First things first. This was an Indian wedding and we needed Indian music. They can't do Indian…read moremusic. If you want it then you need to provide them with a list of songs. This was my biggest mistake because I thought I would be able to get a comprehensive list together, but I wasn't able to. So the Indian music was lacking. In the middle of the reception, Michael walks over to our sweetheart table and asked me, the bride, what was supposed to be happening at that moment! I had given them documents of the order of things for that very reason and we had a planner. Obviously, I would have problems remembering off the top of my head what was next. I told him the wrong thing and we had to awkwardly go back and do some things we skipped over. That was very bad form for a DJ. The DJ, Michael, would yell out things like "Saturday nights" during the dance music which obviously is not the right vibe for a wedding. He did not read the crowd well and played songs for too long when everyone was tired of it and not dancing anymore. The photobooth was not set up correctly. When Joe and I spoke about it on the phone, he said there would be 10 feet of space that the photobooth would capture but they had it set up so that there was only like 6 feet. I remember this because after I got the measurements from him, I tried to get a floral backdrop that was as wide at the picture would be able to get. I couldn't get anything bigger than an 8ft wide wall but even that wasn't fully captured. The guy monitoring the photobooth was very rude and badly behaved. He was having the time of his life (which we got in our videos) and gave me attitude about how we were still taking pictures at the end of the night. Given these issues, I would say how much we paid made sense because they were on the cheaper side (compared to Indian DJs). The uplighting made the ballroom look great. We said pink uplighting but it came out purple which worked out. I have a before and after attached of the ballroom.

We were having a small gathering for a bridal shower and we rented 3 tables and 12 chairs (10…read morepadded and 2 unpadded because that is all that was available). The padded chairs cost twice as much as the unpadded, but we were okay with that. Booking the equipment was very easy, and the company confirmed our order and a few days before the event we were sent an email on how to pick up the equipment. (We opted to pick up ourselves). Before pickup I received a voicemail letting me know that the chairs would all be padded because of an error on their side, but we were fine with that change. Upon pickup, we were surprised that there were no padded chairs available and only 2 tables and a child's table. We tried contacting Katrina but with no answer, so we took the unpadded chairs and three tables. We were able to make what we had work, but I was disappointed with the outcome especially at the 11th hour. We never heard back from the company for direction as to what to do despite calling and leaving a message. I did follow up with the company a few days after the event and let them know what happened. They offered a refund for the difference of the chairs, but the communication was lacking. The follow up was all on our side even to check on a refund. Unfortunately, I do not recommend Torkay, and I will not use them again.
