Firstly, the location is anything but near Giessen, but ok, it was my duty to check, so can't blame them for that. Since I arrived early to the city, I came there in order to leave my baggage, so that I could go and do my stuff around Giessen. The woman who worked at the reception would not put my bag into her office, but simply put it in the middle of the hall, so anyone could take it. The hostel is closed from 12 to 17, then check in is only after 17h, and the reception closes again at 22h! I can understand she did not invent those ridiculous working hours, but she could at least pretend to be a bit more accommodating to the fact that because of my duties in Giessen it was unlikely to get there before 22h. She wasn't even listening to me, but ignored me and started talking to the maid! It was not even rude or unprofessional, it was downright mean and vicious. As someone who works in the service sector, I'm appalled such person does not get fired immediately! So yes, I tookm my bag and went down to the city and found a pansion for slightly more money. It is only sad that DJH is the only "hostel" in Giessen, but please, try not to stay there ever, those couple of more Euros you'd pay some pansion or hotel will be well worth it.

Best views for a beer break, and this almost seemed like an "accidental surprise" to us, as we didn't know exactly what was located at the top of the hill. We happened to be in Bacharach for the Game of Thrones Tourney, so we decided to make the journey to see the castle for ourselves. The castle is truly the focal point of the whole town; even upon arrival from the train station, Stahleck is standing proudly to greet you. Looking at the signs pointing to the stairs, I thought, how hard could this really be? We're two average fit Americans; we'll be fine! Well! We were! Make to bring some good hiking shoes with some good traction, and a good camera to take in some of the amazing scenery! The first initial steps up the mountain have a sturdy railing and sturdy wooden steps - nice and easy. But, as you go higher, the steps go away, and you're walking on a dirt path that I wouldn't dare walk on if it was covered in snow. Making it to the top is definitely worth it, and the view is really impressive of all of Bacharach. We should've gotten a beer or something to celebrate making it to the top, but it was getting dark rather quickly, so we had to make our way back down again. Go inside and get a coffee or hot chocolate before heading back to town!
