Now that I'm situated in Denmark, you know what I miss about the US? Not thaaaat many things (read: please stop talking to me about Donald Trump and/or the upcoming election), but one thing I do really miss is that laid-back chatting with people you encounter in your every day life. Without the feeling you're uncomfortably stroking someone's holy personal bubble/wasting their time... Call it superficial, but it makes me smile and is just another positive experience in my day. Sometimes that's all it takes if you're having a bad day. I have to say that the service here gave me that feeling. The lady working there--I guess the owner, Rikki, judging by someone's photo--was very sweet and accommodating, was checking up on us to make sure we were OK/liked our food, and just generally made me feel very welcome and happy to be there. For me, this really makes the difference when there are plenty of great cafes to choose from in Copenhagen. (Also, I would definitely want to feel this way about someone who was going to be helping me cleanse my body using juice.) So, not necessarily the place to grab a super fast coffee and zip off, as there was only one person at work, but I really appreciate the local feel, emphasis on fresh food, and very importantly the availability of lactose-free milk options! Shout out here to the alternative milks, homemade on-site. If you're not on friendly terms with lactose, like me, you've got plenty of options here. I tried cashew and sesame milk, both great and very mild tasting alternative milks. They are also unsweetened--love that. Drinks can be sweetened if that's your thing, though. I would love to try their coconut milk at some point. And finally: thanks for having real matcha! Definitely worth a return trip in my book. read more

I found this place thanks to Yelp. I took my small Yelp team (4ppl) to give it to try. I'm writing a review on behalf whole team. Place was surprisingly smaller than I tought. Anyway, nice simple design with some nice small details. We went there about 10. We ordered breakfast. All together we tried to order every single item from the breakfast (brunch) menu. Basically all items were very tasty and original. I loved the Matcha bowl (Matcha is a special green tea powder and here it was mixed with puréed avocado, banana, cashew milk and vanilla). Really unique. I'm always on the hunt for something unique and I found it in here. Added value in my perspective! So I recommend that you should definitely try that. I would like to mention also the healthy apple cake, which is not really apple cake at all, but it tasted excellent and I'm happy they didn't use too much sweetener. For a drink, we all ordered a flat white coffee. It was perfectly done and they add little art on the top. 4 coffees, 4 perfect hearts. It show a confident barista hand. Speaking about service- all servers were all very friendly, efficient and they perfectly knew their product. That's the key of success. Working in Østerbro has its advantages, you get to meet your friends during the short lunch time and for that sake we choose this place because it's very close to my work place. Djuus is one of those "healthy" cafe that focus on JUICE. Well, you know that already. They sell their own freshly pressed juice that taste really good. They do have juice-diet for you as well if you want to try the "going about your day without meal but only juice" kind of thing. They apparently do brunch as well. My friend and I chose the rye bread sandwich despite my initial interest of choosing the brunch menu (it was still available at that time) because rye sandwich would make you feel full better, the staff said - Okay, so she says. My rye bread sandwich was with tuna, it was good but it's not like something that I couldn't make myself at home (okay, maybe I wouldn't have any rye bread at home anyway), but nothing fantastic. The juice on the other hand was fantastic, so they did live up to their name, being juice pusher. Service was super friendly, so that also counts. It's one of those nice cozy cafe, but I wouldn't come here for lunch. This big bottomless pit of a stomach needs something more than just rye bread sandwich! read more

Juice-and-sandwich places are all the rage in Copenhagen these days, with one on nearly every street corner. This one seems to have just a bit more focus on the health aspect. All of their sandwiches are served on Danish rye bread, and their juices and shakes seem to be composed for optimal content of various fruits and greens, rather than throwing in a lot of tasty stuff. This does mean that they aren't really the explosions of taste and sweetness you find elsewhere, but they might be better for you. We had the shake of the day, which was a blackberry and walnut shake, which was good, but a lacked a bit of flavour. We also had a vegetarian sandwich, and one with parma ham. The vegetarian sandwich was good, made with salad, tomato, humus, avocado, mozzarella, and pesto. The parma ham itself was good, but the sandwich was a bit boring, compared to the vegetarian one, containing only the ham and some greens. Adding a bit of cheese, pesto, or avocado to this one, would help. This place is somewhat anonymous in its style, with the front dining room area kept in a very neutral white and with little in terms decor. The rear room, which is where you order your food, is not much more personalised, leaving a bit of a white-on-white feeling. When I was there, the place ran a check-in bonus on Yelp, so you got a 50 % discount on your order. Without that, I would deem the place pretty pricey. All in all, I like the place, but the value for money could be better. Still, I might come back if I'm in the neighbourhood and looking for a healthy lunch. read more
