I'm a really picky person from a big city. I was convinced that "5 Star" food was not available in Montrose. I was wrong. This low key food truck next to Storm King Distillery serves the best food in the city. Period. The distillery is great, but without this food truck, they wouldn't have half of business they get. I'm not sure what else to say. Just go. read more

We've been here twice and both times were so impressed! The chicken sandwich had the most delicious topping (I think it was a kind of coleslaw)! And the rice that came as a side with the other dish was to die for. Who knew rice would be so tasty? Most recently we had the steak special and the shrimp and once again, cooked to perfection and the most tasty mustard sauce! Whatever the food truck's menu is for the day, it's sure to be amazing! read more

Guac was perfectly seasoned, enough salt and lime which can be rare. Unfortunately three of the tacos were very weak. One of them had freezing cold salsa which just ruined the whole sensory experience. Another tacos tortilla burst immediately after receiving. The brisket taco was just a little bland. Potentially worth a stop but I wouldn't go out of your way.

The food itself was decent--definitely not Texas-level barbecue, but for Montrose, it's what you'd expect. We ordered 90 plates with the intention of having leftovers (74 mouths fed), but there were none. When our coordinator reached out, Tyler (the owner) explained that he always brings extra food so guests can have seconds. That didn't quite add up--why would a caterer bring extra food beyond what was paid for? It left us wondering whether the portions were simply miscalculated. Another issue was the food temperature. The small burners used during setup weren't effective at all. We were among the first to eat, and our food was already cold. I can only imagine how it was for guests at the later tables. One of the biggest disappointments was the trailer. We had a lot of family traveling in from Texas and were thrilled about the idea of Tyler's trailer, which has a big Texas graphic on the side. We mentioned this during our initial meeting and were quoted for 80 plates. Later, when we increased to 90 and asked about the trailer again, Tyler told us he doesn't bring it for larger catering events. That was a real letdown--not just aesthetically, but practically. We suspect the food would've stayed much warmer had the trailer been used instead of the burner setup. Overall, while the barbecue was okay, the experience didn't meet expectations--especially given the excitement and planning that went into it.

We ordered 2 grilled mother cluckers and bock bock fries (our go to). It was about 4pm and there were only a few people there (we were the only ones outside). After about 40 minutes waiting for our food I decided to go in to check on things. Our order was sitting on the counter. Their response was "sometimes the buzzer doesn't work from the table you're sitting at"..... ummmmm what? We ended up eating the cold chicken (and I mean cold, not luke warm) sandwiches because we were starving but asked them to remake the fries. Fast forward to a few weeks ago it was a Friday and me and a friend ordered some sandwiches and sat in the back half of the brewery . After about 25 minutes my buzzer went off. When I got up to the counter there was an order of fish and chips... they called the wrong buzzer. No biggie. Well another 20 minutes went by and nothing. People around us that ordered after us were getting their food. So I went back up to the counter and there on their service line were our chicken sandwiches. When I asked the employee about my order she went back and checked and came back and said "we just finished them up". I took the sandwiches back to the table and again they were COLD. Not to mention since the coleslaw was sitting on the bun they were completely soggy. Didn't take the sandwiches back because we had a baby with us that needed to go to bed. I'm not sure if it's a buzzer issue or what. But we aren't sure if / when we will be returning to Pomona, sadly.

Being from out of town, we enjoyed hearing stories about the local history and upcoming events. Storm King Distilling offers a rye whiskey, a wheat whiskey, and a "fun" whisky called Side Gig. They also make a white tequila, a tequila aged in oak casks, a silver rum, a vodka, and two types of gin. That night, I tried both gins. My favorite was the barrel-rested gin. It had a nice smoky flavor due to resting in oak barrels that were freshly charred.

It is amazing the caliber of food Chef Daniel is producing, but even more so that it's out of a food truck. It's great to have a Montrose restaurant focused on local ingredients with a seasonally appropriate menu. The fries here are amazing, but so is EVERYTHING from this food truck. The date night specials are where the Chef's creativity and talents really shine, but the regular menu is nothing to be sad about if you miss the Saturday specials (or if they are sold out!). Additionally, brunch on Sundays isn't to be missed. Basically, this is the best restaurant in Montrose, and arguably the Western slope-go check it out! read more

Had the chicken sandwich, good size and the dressed coleslaw on it was a great addition to flavor profile, served on a pressed potato roll, overall a very well put together sandwich. Also, friend had the tacos, very good as well. Fresh food and great priced. Located outside the distillery which also had the best drinks we had during our trip (spent a week in Telluride) and they serve the menu inside... have to say that both were some of the best of our trip... too bad we found it on our way out! This is hands down the best food we've found within a 200 mile radius. Everything we had was amazing but the maguro toast was insane. Just the right amount of heat, but with avocado for balance. Chef Daniel is easily one of the most creative chefs in the region dishing out foie gras, caviar, ramen, and other specials, found nowhere in the area (yes we have all that and more out of this food truck!). Just wanted to give another plug to this place. Chef Daniel has changed up his menu this summer and offering some seafood dishes. Normal I avoid seafood in Colorado and definitely from a food truck.
