We had not been to Storm King before but had driven by frequently and wanted to check it out. My partner surprised me by securing reservations to their monthly cocktail making class - very cute date night idea btw. The theme for this night was 'Sips & Dips' which consisted of 3 cocktails paired with some type of dip food item to snack on. The menu covered a nice variety of flavors/styles so there was definitely something for all preferences. Each drink was centered around a different spirit which was nice as well. We were very impressed with the quality, presentation, and easy to follow instruction. This was truly a 10/10 experience. We are already looking forward to attending another! read more

We were on our way to Telluride and were surprised how quickly Montrose, CO rolls up the carpet, but we're glad that Storm King was open at 9 pm. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable, and cared not only about the drink they were making but also about their craft. Being from out of town, we enjoyed hearing stories about the local history and upcoming events. Storm King Distilling offers a rye whiskey, a wheat whiskey, and a "fun" whisky called Side Gig. They also make a white tequila, a tequila aged in oak casks, a silver rum, a vodka, and two types of gin. That night, I tried both gins. My favorite was the barrel-rested gin. It had a nice smoky flavor due to resting in oak barrels that were freshly charred. read more

Stopped here after Black Canyon National Park and had such a delightful experience! Excellent drinks, knowledgeable bar tenders, and a great ambiance. Their cocktails had such fun garnishes and the spirits were really smooth! Try the side gig whiskey and you will not be disappointed. read more

Storm King Distillery is still young and does not yet have a large selection, but what they do offer is amazing! After speaking to the head distiller, you can tell that they really care about creating a quality product to please everyone. Additionally, the bartenders care about creating a good cocktail. Their motto is spot on... "quality without pretense" - and that's just what they deliver. Definitely stop into this comfortable tasting room if you head through Montrose! read more

We were staying the night in Montrose, CO on our way to Telluride. We arrived around 9 pm, and were looking for a place to have a drink. To our surprise, most of the town shut down around 9 pm. We looked on Yelp for places that were open and found out about Storm King Distilling. When we pulled up, the place looked closed, so we decided to try the door. There were two customers inside who were paying and leaving. It was really weird how dead everything was. Anyway...we started talking to the bartender who was super friendly. He was a nice guy and we had a great conversation. He explained that the reason that there was not a lot of people was that Storm King was celebrating its 3rd birthday the next day, and that there was going to be a big party. We hated that we didn't have enough time to attend the party. Storm King Distillery makes their own alcohol, they had tequila, whiskey, bourbon, vodka and gin. There was regular versions as well as bottle aged versions. We tried both gins and they were delicious. Outside they had two cool teepees that you could sit in which added a fun touch to the place. read more

Storm King, Stat! Holy distillery Batman...this place is da bomb! KA-POW! First time I walked in, I could not get over how cool this place was. The decor is inviting, warm and very industrial which I so love. The Edison lighting, floating metal clouds, seating, bar, distillery...love it all! Tbt (truth be told), I'm not a whiskey fan, but their Rum, Vodka and **award winning** Gin and Agave is so good! On this particular night we were here to support "DineOutForCharity" and they made a special "Valley Spritz" in support of Valley Food Partnership consisting of Vodka, fresh lemon and locally sourced herbs to garnish...so yummy and refreshing! It's not a big place, but in addition to the inside, they do have a lovely patio that is closed off in the winter fully equipped with heaters from above. In the summer and open air..it's bliss! They also hold special events with live music in the distillery room which is super cool! Ok, so they don't have a kitchen but let me tell you...they've partnered with THE most AH-mazing food truck in town...DLICIOUSFOODCO! The night we all went we could not resist an all time fav and "special" of the evening by Chef Daniel...Japanese pork ramen with udon noodles. Seriously? Putting all etiquette aside, you just had to slurp the remaining...yes, it was THAT good! All in all, Storm King Distilling is such a welcomed and super "cool" addition to the Montrose community...I will always support our local businesses and I hope you will too! This is the best place for an alcoholic beverage in Montrose. The drinks are classy, well-balanced and reasonably priced. Plus, their customer service is second to none. Nick and Ben are what makes this place legit as they are both cocktail connoisseurs with a cool demeanour. Phenomenal drinks and service. Was only here for a night and was recommended by some locals on our flight over. The bartender was amazing at his job, and very knowledgeable. Recommended certain craft cocktails for us and actually took the time to create some specific cocktails just for us that he knew we would enjoy. Took the time to make every drink special and even toasted some coconut to go on the top. Just a superb experience and will be back every time I am in Montrose. read more

We love the atmosphere at this little place. It's got a hip vibe, creativity cocktails and friendly staff. The outdoor seating is inviting and perfect for a summer evening. Cocktails are on the pricey end and there is very limited seating inside. You can grab a delicious bite at the food truck parked outside. Dam. I'm worried about too many people finding this place. I love it. Best place in Montrose. The regular bartender is awesome and drinks are even better. At peak times you WILL have to wait a few minutes for a drink. That is because you are in a small town in Colorado. If you are looking for fast, impersonal service.....don't come here! read more

Stormking is the only distillery in Montrose and despite their main spirit being years out (whiskey) the Gin/Rum/Agave & Vodka are ALL stand outs! With the Gin having won an award on its 1st batch!!! Steven behind the bar makes an argument for the best barman/cocktail around and the bloody mary's being served here are by far the best iv'e ever had.... not to be missed during DLICIOUSFOODCO's brunch service (killerfood truck ) brunch offered on Sunday's. The space is brand new and it offers plenty of room to keep warm and cozy with an awesome cocktail. Would highly recommend to anyone who has not been. A Montrose MUST!!! read more
