He's heard me bickering for years about not having authentic tacos especially being a native to San Diego in all of Colorado until today 12//21/24. We live in Cañon City,CO and making our way to Durango for a holiday getaway and stopped here to get a bite to eat. Wow, we were surprised! Tacos full of flavor! We definitely make it a point to stop here on our travels from Las Vegas, NV and encourage any locals or those passing through Montrose to stop and eat here. My "guerrito" boyfriend asked why these tacos taste much better than the ones he's had before? Simple they marinate and real spices to their meats. My bf had the birria tacos, I had the shrimp tacos. Then we ordered a second plate for each of us-adobada and asada tacos! Mi gente, stop looking elsewhere, te van a fascinar estos tacos cuando tu "jefecita" isn't there to make them for you. This spot is super highly rated for tacos and burritos in Montrose. I was craving a burrito and was getting over a cold while in town so we decided to order from here for carryout. Honestly I loved my birria burrito. It was exactly what I was hoping for and if I lived here I think I'd go back semi regularly. My husband, however, did not really love his burrito and I'm not sure if it was just the protein choice or what, but he wasn't a huge fan. Also I will say the prices were pretty high for what it was, thus 4/5 stars. If we were in town longer we might return and try again and maybe the whole family would become more of a fan. read more

Exactly the lunch we were looking for! It's small but plenty of seating inside & outside. Large drink selection and a menu to please everyone. The horchata was excellent- highly recommend! Great service- easy to order and food arrived quickly and beautifully plated. The sauces were a bonus, food didn't need them but added a nice kick. Went to the Home Depot looking for the well reviewed taco truck, didn't see it, and tracked it back to this spot. Glad I did the digging because these are worth every minute of research time (so hopefully I save you that). It's a small space and every single table was taken, including the few tables outside, but the service was quick and I waited outside for ten minutes while they prepared two orders or tacos. Each order comes with 4 tacos for ~$15. It's not cheap, but they are a decent size with each one being more than a good handful. We had the birria tacos which comes with a broth for dipping and is the perfect blend of rich and savory and acidic. Paired that with the pastor which cuts the pork flavor with sweet pineapple chunks. The fresh, quality ingredients shine through and you won't be disappointed. read more

I honestly expected so much better. I am very disappointed. I had ordered quesabirria tacos and they were very flavorless, as well as the consomé. The consomé tasted very watered down. My agua fresca tasted very watered down as well. I came with 3 other people who also weren't as pleased with their food. read more

Why the heck does this place not have more reviews!!? We are originally from Phoenix, where Mexican food is the most common restaurant/shack/house on every corner. We are traveling through Montrose craving tacos and found this place. There is no sign outside, but the small restaurant has big flavors! We had the birria tacos (4). The meat is super tender, and the flavors are so well done. The service is friendly and the food comes out fast. We will mark this place as a must stop whenever we are in the area. I can not recommend this place enough. Stop what you are doing and drive directly there. read more

We ate here in a Saturday afternoon, wasn't busy but we noticed most of the restaurants we walked by on Main Street were not busy either. Had the birria tacos again, they didn't disappoint. I wish I could give this place a better review, but it's on the pricey side. For four tacos, it's $15($3.75 a taco). Plus, if you add a drink, it would be a total of $20 for one person. I'm just saying I would come back, but it would be with a friend who pays for their own food, and it wouldn't happen often. On the bright side, the food was amazing, and I didn't have to wait long. The Birra tacos were good, but I would rather have a French dip. I really like the pork tacos with green sauce. I could have easily eaten 6 of their tacos, but that means I would have had to buy 8 tacos, and I am not spending $30 for one person without getting a drink. I really wish I could give a better review, but $3.75 a taco is too much, and it doesn't matter which tacos you get. There all the same price. read more

Add a dollar to their ceiling; they collect 'em at the end of the year and donate to local deserving organizations. Food was very good for the new restaurant! Prices were fair! I didn't like the fact that they charge a 5% fee for what they call "CLOVER SERVICE". When questioned, they said that it was for the ATM/Credit Card costs. Gee thanks, but I paid CASH! So I paid 5% for paying in CASH???? Go Figure? read more
