Most chiropractors crack & twist your neck or back, your pain maybe temporarily relieve for a while and then the pain is back. But Dr Poole uses a gentle approach, which is different than other chiropractors.  Inital visit was 1.5 hr and Dr. Poole answered all of my questions with knowledge and clarity. He took time to explain everything that we were doing and made sure that I understood. The intake & adjustment in one session has truly changed my life. The headache I had for 9 years healed. My sleep has improved. After a few couple of visits, muscle spasms I had from intense exercise healed. I was able to do cardio exercise at the gym without pain. Also, the heel pain I had for 2 weeks healed after one adjustment. My lower back pain happens a lot less often now. In addition to his treatment, he gave me simple stretching home exercises to do. Dr. Poole is friendly, compassionate, down to earth, and highly caring. I am so excited that I found him.

Unlike my orthopedist, Jason quickly uncovered the cause of my problem and manually worked to correct it and gave me exercises to maintain myself. I am feeling much better and have the tools to keep myself healthy and injury free. And playing tennis! I also like the open concept of the place and it's relaxed atmosphere. This is not a "corporate " PT facility where patients spend most of their visits doing exercises largely unsupervised. I plan on referring my patients here as well.

I needed someone to treat a recurring elbow injury that I had let slide from "general aches" to "complete immobility" over the course of a few months. Normally I'm the type of person who ignores injuries and hopes they'll resolve on their own--and sometimes they do! However, when my arm just refused to heal, I scheduled an appointment. In the past I've been to different PT's around NYC to address other injuries that wouldn't heal (broken bones etc), and typically a session is about 20 minutes of manual therapy and 20 minutes of stretching on your own while the PT works on someone else. Dr. Rick, however, spends the whole 50-60 minutes assessing your injury, finding the root cause (in this case it was my neck and shoulder causing my arm to malfunction), and manually working on it. I didn't sit in a corner half-heartedly stretching while my appointment time ran out! Dr. Rick really dug in deep (pun intended) for an entire hour, assessed my movement patterns carefully, and gave me additional movements for at-home therapy. Within 2 sessions my elbow was back to full-range of motion. It's a fantastic thing to be able to access Dr. Rick's deep body of knowledge just by making an appointment (his impressive list of certs/degrees is online). For any type of injuries or performance issues--I can't recommend Dr. Rick highly enough!

If I could give this place more stars I would…read more From my first meeting with Dr. Rick to my most recent treatment, I have been nothing but impressed. I have been through physical therapy before and I've worked in a PT office; I can honestly say that I have never seen another therapist more attentive to their patients than Dr. Rick. Each session you're greeted with a warm smile and genuine interest in how you're doing, but from there it's down to business. Dr. Rick works with you to not just solve whatever is ailing, but to find the root of the problem. Too often doctors and therapists rush to treat the symptom rather than find the actual cause--not Dr. Rick! Because he spends the entire session with you, he is able to track down the root causes and works through both manual therapy and rehab exercises with you. (Ex: I had an issue overhead pressing, but the problem was actually an issue with my triceps.) In addition to his attentive nature, Dr. Rick is very knowledgeable and has an impressive stable of technology that he utilizes to help him solve the problem. The first time in the office you'll notice that there are gadgets and machines all over the place for testing everything from your 3D body image to running analysis. So, whether you're looking for someone to help you recover from an injury or help you check in on your current fitness levels Dr. Rick at The Body Lab is the person to see. I suggest a visit to anyone seriously interested in maintaining peak performance or recovering from injury.

I came to Dr. Yang with a wrist strain and left knee tendonitis due to tennis. He was very careful…read moreand diligent with diagnosing how bad the damage was and establishing a clear baseline to work off of. Not only that, he also found other problem areas noticeably my decreased ankle and limited shoulder mobility that may have been supporting causes to these injuries. He was able to prescribe PT exercises with a focus on good form and I noticed immediate improvements in my discomfort. After 3 sessions I was pretty much good to go back to Tennis, this time with a much better understanding on what to work on off the court to be more injury resilient. I came to HoPT after a serious…read morebike vs. car accident that left me with 2 broken bones in my ankle, emergency surgery, and months of being non-weight bearing. I had tried another local PT and had a terrible experience, but from the moment I came in to HoPT, I knew I was in the right hands. Shannon has treated me with such care, empathy, and professionalism. She is incredibly kind, encouraging, deeply knowledgeable, and attentive. Early in my recovery, she noticed that my surgical wound showed signs of infection and thanks to her sharp instincts, I was able to get a 2nd surgery to clean and re-close the wound before things got worse. Even when I was on crutches, she thoughtfully challenged me with tailored exercises to rebuild strength and mobility. She struck the perfect balance between compassion and push, motivating me to keep working hard and trust the process. At my 5-month post-op, my surgeon told me I was healing like someone 8 months out, and I have Shannon to thank for that. I'm running again, feeling stronger, and experiencing less pain. The clinic itself is amazing. With just 2 PTs working at a time, each patient gets 1-on-1 care. The environment is calm, personalized, and supportive. I've also had the pleasure of working with Julia and Alberto, who are fantastic as well. I feel so lucky to have found HoPT and Shannon. I just realized that I started this review back when I was pregnant in 2014, but never ended up…read moreposting it... so here we go! I said it once, and I'll say it again... Dhay is AWESOME! I can't imagine in what shape this preggo body would be in if it wasn't for her treatments. I started experiencing a lot of back pain during my second trimester and a friend referred me to Dhay who came to my rescue. I made an appointment and she was able to see me right away and was super flexible with scheduling. She has after-work hours and the location was easy and convenient to get to. The only thing that was a bit frustrating is dealing with my insurance company. Dhay was considered an out-of-network provider which means they do not cover any of the cost of treatments, but Dhay diligently followed up with them to try and make things work for me so I could pay less for the treatments.. at the end of the day, the insurance company didn't cover any of the costs, but it was still SOO worth it paying out of pocket. Highly recommended! I wish I was still in NY so I can use her again with my next pregnancy!

I started with Dhay in my third trimester…read moreof pregnancy and must say it was worth all of the time and effort to trek into the city from Brooklyn to see Dhay. I was reluctant at first to get prenatal massage because a friend who was pregnant had once said "What's the point? you immediately go back to being achy and creaky again". Boy was she wrong and I was sorry I had waited until my third trimester to talk to my doctor and get referred to Dhay. After a 90 minute massage (always coupled with a mini-session to discuss how I was feeling and at home exercises and remedies) I left her office feeling great for the day and was sure to get a good night's rest, which when you are coming down to the end days is priceless. And sure my friend was right in the sense that within 24 hours my body had assumed most of its tightness, but to have that tightness be relived for an entire day was wonderful and more importantly only allow it to build up for a week, prevented further pain and aches. I also worked with a personal trainer and would share my progress with Dhay, she had great advice that also helped inform my work in the gym. I truly have to say that because of my work with Dhay, I had a very happy and healthy third trimester and an incredibly easy labor, even for a second child.
