I was glad that I contacted Leo and his crew at DMV Services for an attic installation. In my initial contact to provide specific information on the particulars of the project, Leo put me in the ballpark on what the project would cost. He also seemed to want to satisfy a new customer. The ballpark figure was very reasonable compared to other numerous contractors who gave me their estimates. DMV Services scheduled an appointment, showed up on time and worked the project for about 6 hours which required removal of the old insulation and blowing the new fiberglass which brought me up to code. My attic insulation was completed to my satisfaction. The adjustment from the ballpark figure to the final total cost of the project was minimal. It was about twice as much as what two contractos estimates that I have received in writing was. I also went back to the chat in Yelp and told him that I had hope I would get an estimate in writing. I bought a 101-year-old home that has a large attic with a finished floor. There was insulation under the plywood floor, but nothing in the rafters. Of the 3 insulation contractors I called, Leo with DMV Attic Insulation was by far the quickest to respond and demonstrated the most knowledge, explaining my choices in clear ways. Helping me to understand the difference between open cell and closed cell foam by saying "open cell is like a very tough marshmallow consistency" was brilliant! He gave me the best option to try to get the attic to R-40 efficiency. Leo was always responsive via phone and text and once I decided on DMV we were able to schedule quickly. There was a slight delay in the start of installation because D.C. was experiencing 100-degree+ temperatures which caused problems with some of DMV's equipment - but the project was started only a day later. Leo's crew got a little overzealous and covered an electrical cutoff box and got a lot of foam on a ceiling-mounted electrical outlet, but these will be minor fixes. The only point of contention with Leo was that he really wanted me to leave two gable windows uncovered in case I ever wanted to convert the attic to living space - but I really wanted the attic totally buttoned up since I'm converting the home to a heat pump system. He relented and came up with an option to cover and seal the windows that was better than my idea. The insulation has made an instant difference in the comfort level upstairs and I'm very pleased with how the project came out. read more

If this is a "professional" company than I'm a monkey's uncle! They were doing work in my neighbor's attic, but somehow they had an "accident" and fiberglass insulation was all over my yard, up the sidewalk, and up the street. They "vaccuumed" up the larger pieces, but this is fiberglass, so you never really get up all the shards, which are an environmental toxin! They didn't stop immediately when confronted, either, and said "sometimes this happens." They really started cleaning up when the police arrived; I had to get the officer to get the name of company! This was two guys in an unmarked truck with a U-Haul and what looked like a big fabric balloon! I'm contacting the BBB, Consumer Affairs, and anyone else I can find! Avoid at all costs! read more
