A friend and I were taking a day trip out to Slab City and we got stranded in the middle of nowhere…read morein desert temperatures. We called Gonzalez Auto Repair, and they were a hundred times more helpful than my first call to my actual insurance company (who wouldn't give me roadside assistance and would only supply a tow truck that I would have had to pay out of pocket for -- to make it back to LA would have been way too expensive). We were a solid thirty miles from any town and the guys at Gonzalez provided me with tips and a number to call their partnered towing company (it's all run by the same family) who came as quickly as possible and towed us back to Brawley in no time. They stayed open for us and diagnosed our car (a rental) with a broken radiator and helped me deal with my rental company in terms of payment and a plan of action to figure out the cheapest option. We couldn't get it fixed until the next morning since we needed a part replacement, but one of the guys gave us great info about the cheapest hotel rates, restaurants, entertainment, etc. He called us a cab to take us to the hotel and picked us up the next morning, too. Repair was done on time, with no trouble. They have wonderful customer service and everyone who works there is incredibly friendly. If I ever get stranded in the California desert again, this is the place I'll call!
