My cat had a UTI and stress that caused him to mark my carpet repeatedly, so I booked Citrus Fresh…read morefor their advanced pet treatment. There was a mix-up the first time and they did the basic pet treatment. But they came back, did the advanced (deeper) enzyme treatment I had originally booked, and refunded me for the hassle, which I really appreciated. Both times the techs were pleasant and efficient. I also appreciated that, prior to treatment, they used a black light to thoroughly assess the problem. One thing to know is that the smell can actually get worse for a few days after deep enzyme cleaning (which really surprised me!). Keeping the windows closed at first, then airing out, running two air purifiers on turbo, and vacuuming thoroughly really helped. Vacuuming is so important because it lifts leftover VOC particles that cause "ghost smell" even after enzyme treatment. I also used an odor powder (Rocco & Roxie) over the carpet, left it for 24 hours, then vacuumed again. Blocking off the area with aluminum foil and barriers helped stop my cat from re-marking the same spots too. In the end, Citrus Fresh helped me save my carpet. I'd recommend them -- just know to stick with it, ask for the advanced treatment and be patient if you have a tough pet mess like mine!

Pretreatment and spot details included. Service was timely and thorough. Probably another vacuuming would have been helpful. I vacuumed the next day and plenty of dog hair was picked up. Overall, would recommend and use them again.

I used their service on 2/20/2015…read more The cleaning job was okay, but the protector that is left behind creates an oily, chemical film that never seems to go away. Touching the carpet, your skin is covered in it and it smells bad. Worse, you leave footprints when moving off the carpet and onto laminate. I paid over $300 dollars to have this done to my carpet. I'm fairly certain the "special protectant" that you pay extra for is the culprit, but I am not certain. It could be the other stuff that they use when they are scrubbing. I only know that the carpet in the house that I bought did not have this problem for the first several months after I moved in. I had the carpet cleaned because the previous owner had dogs who tracked in mud. After vacuuming today, the nasty smell of the chemicals is present. I am using rug runners to cover the carpeted areas until I can get the underlying carpet replaced. I've lived with this for several months because I cannot afford to replace the carpet and was hoping that with enough vacuuming, the special protectant would go away. Worse, the protectant got into the seam between my laminate and carpet, causing it to swell and explode after rotting. The oily residue will settle out after awhile, but when you vacuum, the roller brush will bring it back to the surface again and the oily footprints will begin appearing all over the house. I'm considering replacing my carpet if I am not able to remove the unpleasant residue using a carpet cleaning rental with water only. The company bills itself as pet safe, but I have pets who like to lay on the carpet and I'm not at all confident that the oily residue that gets on them is healthy.
