The emergency room was efficient and staff were very kind, and they were overwhelmed (when we were there). All of the nurses and other specialists staff that my husband had appeared to be thorough with their care procedures. All of there personnel were friendly. The Cafeteria offers a good variety of options. The coffee shop near the entrance is a positive experience. You need that when visiting a loved one in the hospital. Went around 11:05PM, the ER was pretty full and there were tons of people waiting. When you walk in, no one is there to greet you. There are 2 security guards who just stare at you like how deers look at headlights. When you actually find the intake person, they're not wearing scrubs or anything identification. They're literally wearing an underarmour shirt with a baseball cap on. like?!? how am I supposed to know you're legit? I went in, gave them my information and then I got the hospital wristband. They gave me the wrong persons name... so that was the first red flag. Then, when they reprinted it out, they gave me the wrong birthday on it. Then, after 2 times, they fixed it correctly after showing me if it was right before putting it on my wristband. I then proceeded to get my vitals taken (height, weight, BP, temp, etc.) Afterwards, the nurse took me in to ask me some questions and then they threw me back to the waiting room. I waited and waited and waited. At the time that I'm writing this, it's 3:13AM. 4 HOURS and I only got my vitals checked? Please expect to wait 5-7 hours if you come here. If it's an emergency, try to find another hospital. Heck, Holy Cross is much better than this and that's saying a lot. If the emergency can wait, try to just go to Patient First in the morning. They will get you in and out in about 1 hour. I would rather suffer or go to an ER in Virginia than to ever go in Maryland. read more

I recently underwent surgery for uterine fibroids at Doctors Community Hospital on January 16. While much of my experience was positive, a significant concern prevents me from giving a full five-star rating. The surgical care itself was excellent. My surgeon, Dr. Ibeanu did a wonderful job, and I am truly grateful to him and the entire surgical team for ensuring my procedure was safe and successful. I went into surgery fearing I might need a hysterectomy, but by God's grace, I was able to have an abdominal myomectomy instead--a true blessing. The nurse practitioners and most of the staff were helpful, attentive, and supportive during my stay, and the food was decent as well. However, on January 17, the day after my procedure, I experienced an unprofessional and hurtful interaction with a nurse. While recovering, I overheard a comment about my appearance in which the nurse stated that I was "ugly." At a time when I was already physically and emotionally vulnerable, this was extremely upsetting. I chose not to confront the situation at that moment, as my focus was on healing.No patient should ever endure remarks like this in a healthcare setting. Hospitals are places for healing, and professional, respectful communication must always be upheld. Comments about a patient's appearance are never appropriate unless a clear, mutual rapport has been established--which was not the case here. I strongly believe additional training on professional communication and bedside manner is needed at this hospital. Aside from this incident, my care was largely positive, and I am thankful for the medical outcome of my surgery. My sister was admitted, the staff was very kind, considerate and helpful. The establishment was very clean and it was easy to get parking!

Check in was smooth 6-20-25 the lady was welcoming. Stayed overnight so all the staff I came in contact with were very accommodating! 4th Floor A... Sandra, Alaina, Juliet, Amy, Chimai, Diana, Edward the tech, Yvette Care Quality was above and beyond down to the Doctor treating My Love!. Everyone made sure it was enough towels, wash cloths, blankets and comforting. The Type of Care my love received was fantastic everyone worked diligently and a team effort to get to the bottom of everything. That I can appreciate!! read more

I'm doing this review because I was surprised at the improvements that have been made. My family member has a procedure done here and the communication was excellent the entire time. Registration process was quick, and the nurse came and asked me for my contact information. She explained that they would text me when I had to go in the back. I received a text at every single step. They even have a board that displays where the patient is but it doesn't list their names it lists their patient ID to ensure confidentiality. I was given a name badge for security. They seemed to do that to everyone. I beat the patient to their room and a nurse came on the tv and I could hear her dialing the room. Next thing I know we myself and the local nurse and virtual nurse were on a three way FaceTime call. This is my first time seeing this technology so I'm impressed. Apparently, they can ask questions that way and peek in on the patient. It's interesting. Every time we needed anything it didn't take them long at all to bring that to use, including blankets, pillows, heat packs for pain, and medicine for pain as well. The staff were very responsive and helpful. One nurse even brought a wedge pillow to assist in the comfort level of the patient. They came in a few times to check vitals and ask questions. I never had to go searching for someone to stop some odd machine from beeping or anything really. I unfortunately did have to eat at the cafeteria while I was here. I had a hot dog, chips, and a fountain soda. The lady gave me a deal and only charged $6.50. They had a sandwich, chips, and soda deal for $6. I'm not used to anything being less than $20 in this economy. If you step outside it costs $300. So I fed 5 people for $30. That's not a bad deal at all and I appreciate the deals on the spot. The holiday decorations were welcoming. The signage in the hallways was super easy to follow. Rooms were clean and big. Extra chairs available outside of the rooms, and bathrooms nearby. Parking was free and plentiful as long as you get there early. I was parked right in front. All in all a good experience. read more

So I went here 15 years ago and swore I would not come back but I had an emergency and ended up back here. I was leery but to my surprise, major improvements. I went to the emergency room not being able to swallow and barely breath, was taken to the back and given shots to open my airway. The technology has so much improved. While one was giving me a shot the other was hooking up the IV and another watching my stats. I was placed on oxygen and was being consoled because I thought I was going to die. Very good nurses and doctors in the emergency room after 2am. Once in my room at about 7am the day nurses were just as great and attentive. They were there when needed and I am not a needy person. They had my information on the board with each person that would be in my room and checked on me regularly. Now the night shift male nurse needs to retire. He was the only one that made this 4 stars instead of 5. Oh another thing they have improved is that when I gave them my emergency contact, they text her about everything that was happening to me. So much better a hospital so guess it will be my preferred hospital and I am ALIVE. read more

The floor was dirty with tiles coming up. The ceiling had water stains. Bugs were flying around. Not to mention the staff is mediocre. The triage nurse didn't even know what a myomectomy was. I would NEVER come to this luminis hospital again I would rather go to Anne Arundel. I came here from Bowie UM emergency for a blood transfusion. Got checked in at 7:30 and went back and sat in ED from 8:30 to 11:30 when they finally brought me upstairs. I then had to wait and hour for the blood to come. Next day my transfusion was done by 7am and I was told I had to wait 2 hours for them to test my blood again. At 10AM three hours later they came in. At 11:30 a doctor came in and said they hadn't gotten the results back. I checked my email at 1pm and noticed I had an email from 10:13am with the results........ so they had me waiting for nothing. ZERO STARS, 1 IS 5 TO MANY... I called ambulance for my mother because of her previous health issues. She hadn't been well for just over a week, and I urged her to go to the hospital. They gave her a covid test (negative), pumped her full of sedatives and discharged her an hour later around 4 a.m. in the morning, BEFORE THE MEDS EVEN KICKED IN... She sat in the hospital for 3 hours unattended and without any questions after being discharged, unable to call home because the medication had her so confused, that when I finally got ahold of her I thought she was having a stroke. Nobody questioned why a discharged patient would be sitting around for 3 hours after discharge, nor did they bother to contact her emergency contact. They just completely ignored her. They treated none of the issues she came in for, and given her heart history they didn't check for a heart attack or stroke. How do you give a patient medication, and then not monitor its affect on them? Why would you give them something, when you have no plans on treating them? The nurse (Lester) was rude and impatient, and the charge nurse (Japhet) obviously had no issues with releasing a just medicated patient to free up a bed. The way that medicine is practiced here is wreckless. It's easy to see why they have the reputation that they have. After getting home and sleeping the meds off, she woke up still feeling ill, and we were right back at square one. Thanks for nothing! read more

I had a sleep study done at this hospital- my tech was extremely nice! I am a nurse & i feel like my hospital needs to step up their game! The facility was very clean, comfortable & like home! My tech ( I wish I could remember her name) gave me an extra pillow & blanket- which was very appreciated as it was a little cool & I like heavy mess on me to sleep. Arrived at the ER for chest pains At 7:50pm, was told immediately that there was a 6 hour wait time. I had bloodwork done, ekg, and x-rays. 7.5 hours later, was told my heart was fine. I was given 1000mg of Tylenol and a Lanacane patch to put on my chest and discharged. Staff were professional and nice. Facility looks like the inside of a prison. ER waiting room was like being in an insane asylum. All types of people were in there and security was busy intervening as much as they could. I will find somewhere else to go next time. read more

Had to come here again due to the ambulance saying this was the hospital with availability. I want to give this place a chance but the negligence is too overt and blatant to overlook. My friend's mom appeared to have a stroke, the jury is still out. When we arrived, the intensive care patient monitor was unplugged and beeping loudly. The floor had numerous medical supply packaging of various needles and such on the floor. One looked like gauze with blood on it, there was a drop of blood near it, and two blobs of translucent yellow solid body fluid not sure which one. We brought it up to the nurse, support staff, and doctor but no one addressed it other than saying they'd get housekeeping but never doing so. I mean that's a biohazard right? That's why they have those toxic waste looking wastebins in the room to properly dispose of the contaminants. I'm not a doctor but I've never seen that in any hospital or doctor's office. There was more empty medical supply waste on the countertop and cabinets left open. Also no one plugged anything in until she was done a number of tests. It was as if the intensive care monitor was not important which we know is not true. The ER doctor was actually pretty great. She was nice, concise, and understanding of our circumstance. Later, a more serious alarm started dinging which we had to tell the staff about and he put a blood oxygen meter on her which seemed to help. My friend went to go to the bathroom but declined due to it being so disgusting. A staff person said they had a stomach ache, and another said "it must be that poison in the cafeteria." Terrible optics. If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, no need to stick around and find out its a duck when you're life is on the line. We wanted to discharge my friend's mom but it was super cold and decided against it. We had to leave but feel the need to watch everything and ask even more questions. Doctor's Community/Luminis I think once was a great hospital. And I empathize with the staff as it may be emotionally draining and not able to tackle all of the issues. But I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. For any reason. Not with all of the other great options around this area. read more

May of 2123 worst admission techs. Was told no food or water all day by doctors' orders. Doctors denied this order. Accused by male nurse of having a gun. Another nurse witnessed this but lied. I had to beg for the sip of water after a full day without. There for a week on oxygen. My food was left in the hall for a long time. It was cold when I had to get it from the hall myself. Some nurses were okay, some less. Mostly the helpers were good. Came home with oxygen. I will never stay there again. No way to treat a woman over 80. So My Dad spent his 70th Birthday here at Doctors Community. I can honestly say that they took very good care of my Dad during his week long stay. I was there daily with him and from the techs, to the nurses, to the doctors they were all sound and showing nothing but dedication to making sure my Dad was well taken care of and relieved of any discomfort. Our plan was to fly in on Friday and have a celebration honoring him on that Saturday and everything feel through when he started having lots discomfort and we had to get him into the emergency only to find out other medical issues. The doctors told us then that we had no chance of him getting out on Saturday. I am grateful that we thought to get him in at that time, I'm more so grateful that my dad is here today at 70 and the doctors were able to get things under control for him to be released to come home. Now he is on the road to recovery and I can only say Thank You to the staff from the ladies at the front desk to the ladies and gentlemen in the kitchen, the techs, the custodians, the nurses and the doctors and all the other staff members at Doctors Community Hospital. read more

Okay the only reason they are getting two stars is because the actual RNs the doctor and the triage people was excellent. And I was brought back pretty quickly. So here's where it got bad they have a tired lazy piss poor attitude and unknowledgeable medical tech working in their ED this guy had trouble finding my vine to start an IV which I understand completely. He stuck me 3 times unsuccessfully so this he goes back and gets a ultrasound machine to fine my vine still no luck he's getting irritated and falling asleep while working on me he leaves his coworker comes in and tried another 2 times at this point I lost it I told them don't stick me again so the guy got an attitude saying "okay I won't touch you again and storms out as his coworker is l lecturing me about I was glad they told me back right away and I need their help. I tuned her out and then the Actual RN came in and apologized and ask can she tried to start the IV I was hesitant at first but I gave in and she got it the first time. The blood was collected the doctor came back with his diagnoses was nice and respectful. I end up having a wonderful conversation with the other RN on my way out. I will never come here again along with capital region. I will take my chances traveling to DC and Virginia for good care. read more

Was told by the ambulance at 11pm that this was the closest/quickest option for my experience. Not only was I unknowingly admitted, but tests and scans were ordered that had nothing to do with my complaint. Given I'm military, I can guarantee the doctors ordered everything for the sake of money purposes. After 18 hours of stating I wanted to be discharged, along with my military leadership calling the hospital as well, they finally discharged me. Though they tried squeezing an extra CT scan, which of course had nothing to do with my issue, just to increase the bill even more. I'd rather die on the sidewalk than ever come back here. Absolutely the worst hospital I've ever been to. Would rate zero stars if I could. I came a few years ago for a UTI & a kidney stone. After waiting for over six hours, in pain and crying in the lobby, I was finally seen by a doctor. They told me they had no idea what was wrong and gave me an obscene amount of pain prescriptions. I then went to a different hospital where I was accurately diagnosed. Due to my past experience, I was not keen on returning here. My husband unfortunately got into an incident with our cat and his lip was split, bleeding profusely. We arrived here at 3:30. We filled out paperwork and remained waiting in the lobby until 5:52, which is when we were taken to a back examination room. We were told that a doctor would see us soon. Soon must be French for in three years, because by 7:30 we had STILL not been seen! I had my husband ask a nearby doctor if she had an estimate on when he could receive his stitches. She was extremely rude and loudly declared that we need to wait and she's the only one giving stitches. I've never felt so disrespected or annoyed in my life. He's bleeding, risking infection, and probably only needed TWO stitches. That is not cause for an attitude or a four hour wait. If you care about your life and health, avoid this place like the plague. If you have any enemies, however, you know what hospital to send them to when they need assistance. read more

My father had a mild stroke. He was seen early upon arrival(15 minutes). It was my mother, my sister my father as well as myself. My sister went with my father. The time was 10:30am. They needed to do an MRI and other test. They performed a few tests but weren't very good at communicating during this process. My sister had to change the container when he was urinating due to no one being available from 10:30 to 9:00pm. When we left my father still hadn't received the MRI they said he would get inside of 2hrs. He also didn't have a room either...nor did he eat! I came here with my grandmother Monday night stayed in the waiting room from 10pm-5am. The nurses are great and some other staff. Mind you my grandmother has a pacemaker and struggling to breath with swelling and high blood pressure. when they finally put us in a room it's a joint room and by the way if you have family that doesn't speak english and your helping them to translate and communicate with nurses and doctors. They will not accommodate the guest sleeping wise. Mind you since it's a joint room they have two beds and one of the beds are empty. I slept there for a night. Next morning, they're telling to me get up because they have a "patient coming " day passes no patient. I didn't know they had early check in for patients who don't show up. My concern is not really with the bed my frustration is accommodate the patient family too if they are helping with the language barriers. I understand that I'm not a patient here but if we have been here since Monday night hopefully Thursday morning accommodate. Not to mention the real reason for here almost four days is to see the heart doctor. We've seen every specialist you can think of but the main reason why has yet to come .To my knowledge they only accommodate roll away couches to one bedroom. 2/10 would not recommend.Also, we have been here three nights and NOBODY has came to clean my grandmother bed. If I didn't do it myself. Mind you we were told someone was coming to clean but bed but did not. when it came to me sleeping on the extra bed they as in the nurse supervisor Toni or Tory was quick to call house keeping to come clean the extra bed but did not come clean the actual patient that's been here for three days. I recently had a family member admitted to Doctors Community Hospital for 10 days. Since I stayed with her for those 10 days, I feel that I can give a very honest opinion on the facilities, staff and hospital room. From the time she was admitted, she was treated like a queen. Everyone here was so friendly and helpful, with the exception of the guy working in the ER Triage Check-In, he was a total jerk. When I rushed her to the ER, we had a minimal wait. Thank God, because she was very ill. After moving past the very unsympathetic guy in the Tri-age area, it was smooth sailing. The room that she stayed in was very clean and modern. The first night that I spent the night I asked one of the nurses for a recliner and he claimed he couldn't get me one. I instantly thought, gee, this is going to be a long night if I have to sleep in these chairs. Well about 30 minutes later, a technician came in and asked if I wanted a recliner. Thank God she did, because I was able to use that recliner the rest of my family member's stay. The tech didn't have to do it, but I'm so glad she did. A major lifesaver!! The staff not only made sure the patient was comfortable, but me as well. One nurse in particular made sure my family member's stay was extra comfortable, so much so, I went out and purchased a small gift for her, just to say thank you. She showed genuine concern for her and went above and beyond for her. The technicians, nurses, surgeons, on/staff doctors, specialist, kitchen staff, room maids and all others were extremely accommodating and friendly. I will say they need to screen the volunteers they allow at the Information/Guest Check-In because a few of them are extremely rude and very abrupt. When a loved one is sick or injured, the first face they see in the hospital shouldn't be someone that is acting rude or being aggressive. I would rethink who you hire for that position. When my family member was being rolled off for surgery, even the transport technicians were extremely pleasant. They kept her talking and got several laughs out of her just to keep her mind off her pending surgery. They treated her as if she was one of their family members and it was most graciously appreciated. Other than a few staff members at the Information Desk and the Tri-Age Desk, I honestly don't have any complaints about this hospital. It's actually the best one in Prince George's County and it's newly renovated. We had excellent service and now my family member is home and healing extremely well. This is the first time I have ever come back to add an update to a review on Yelp. *** Before I start I would like to say the doctors and nurses in the E.R. were very nice to me and my family. They even played with my baby and gave her juice and snacks because we were there past her dinner time. Once we got our hospital bed the doctors, nurses and staff were all very kind. *** I am hoping what I say next will help someone not have to go through what I went through. I have only been to this hospital once. It was a visit to their ER. For my baby. I have not heard a single thing from them since that day. I called them after our visit to update our medical information and address. The billing department confirmed (after several poor customer service experiences) that they had all the address and medical information correctly in their system for me and my daughter. They said everything was going to be processed. I moved on with my life thinking that was the end of that. I was wrong! I just got a call from a third party COLLECTIONS company. They called to say I was delinquent for the hospital payment. They said there have been several letters sent to me in my daughters name. Their records have me delinquent for over six months! I feel like I am in the twilight zone. I told the gentleman from the collections company that obviously there is a mistake and even though he did everything to collect the money, I told him I would call the hospital directly to figure out what happened. I called the direct number and after speaking with several different departments I was transferred to a department called risk management. The lady said she would get with the billing department and call me back the following day. When she called me back all she said was that the payment looks like it's been paid on the hospital's system and that I should call the collections company again to see why they have me in collections. This is my credit. This is my daughter's personal information. There is nothing they can do. Risk Management suggested I call the hospital's billing department to see what could have happened. The lady I spoke with in the billing dept. confirmed that the system shows I called and they updated their records. They received payment from my insurance but maybe "the doctor didn't". Yup, the doctors in the E.R. apparently have their own billing dept. outside of the hospital's billing dept. They submit their own bills to the insurance company. So the hospital corrected the information on their end but never thought to contact the doctor's office or the doctor's billing company to let them know! This one simple step could have made such a difference. The collections company has been sending my daughter's info and my info to the wrong address for almost 8 months. I have called the collections company myself and updated my address as well as payment information. They apologized for all this but said there is nothing they can do about my credit being affected and unfortunately it takes several more months being delinquent before it will show paid on my credit. If you or anyone you know visits this hospital I would urge you to look at the computer screen and be 100% sure they correctly have all your info and your family member's info right. Otherwise, you may have a hard time later on. And like my situation you may risk your credit being affected and someone else getting all your mail for months. read more

The worst hospital I've ever been to... I went to the emergency room for a rectal abcess. I've had them before so I knew exactly what it was when I felt the pain. I told the er doctor what was wrong and what needed to be done. All I needed was a cat scan to confirm that it was in fact an abcess that was causing my pain. The doctor told me that he had to do an exam first. For the "exam" he touched and pushed my butt cheeks until I said ouch. He then told me that I didn't have an abcess but a hemorrhoid instead. I've never had a hemorrhoid before but I knew for a fact that I didn't have one now either... to make a long story short, I ended up going to another hospital to get a cat scan because he refused to give me one.
