She assured me over the phone that by the end of our hour long experience my dad, my brother and I would hit the bullseye, and she delivered. She gave us pointers to help fix the issue I was personally having hurting my forearm/elbow and to become more accurate marksmen. She gave us just enough information to not be overwhelming but still gave us enough to work on to get better. It was extremely worth the price for the amount of skill increase and fun I experienced, and she reshaped my view of archery entirely, from really negative, to really positive. 10/10 would 100% would go again.

Hard to believe (I am not a trusting person), but Coaches Steve and Ruth at the Archery Program are just that - amazing professionals and good people. 18 weeks ago I was referred to Coach Steve Elkins by another coach, and yes I admit it, I was naturally suspicious and he intrinsically knew it. Coach Steve Elkins is a Level 3/4 teacher - he is Olympian standard. I didn't phase him in the least: Steve used his astounding heuristic empathy and assessment of my personality and moods. Coach Steve took me from an ornery, stressed-out grumbler to a calm, relaxed and perfectly trained archer. (I'm still a pushy perfectionist though). I can now hit gold target rings consistently, with perfect form, at 200 feet. Coach Steve is understanding, compassionate...and uncompromising in seeking perfect of form and function from his students. Coach Ruth is an Olympian, and head coaching of the program. She is sweet, quiet and has a hawk eye for students performance. I am leaving VA for professional reasons, but I'm carrying with me amazing gifts from a dedicated set of professionals who love what they do - and are just really good people to know. You will be missed.

Before giving the rave, I do want qualify my statement by saying this is only the second outdoor…read morerange I have ever visited. The first was the Adelphi Manor archery range in Maryland. Also, I would be considered a novice archer by most standards, though having spend 20+ in uniform, I have seen a few rifle ranges... Now with that said - wow! It costs $3 for two hours but there were proper targets posted so there was nothing else to buy. The most valuable thing for me was that the targets were staggered at 10 yard intervals. 10 yards all the way up to 60 yards. There were two other guys (only one shooting) while I was there and they were on one end so I could stagger my shooting first at the 20, then 30 and so forth. I made it all the way to 50 and stopped while the arrows were all accounted for. Something else I have never seen before, behind the firing line were racks to hang the bows. When you go down the range the bow can stay hanging (opposed to being left on the ground. Not far away, the PX and commissary were also superb so I expect to be back soon.

Granted, its not fun getting to Adelphi being located off the top side of 495. And the area is…read morekinda run down. But the range itself is actually designed pretty well near to perfection. For example, its actually well leveled throughout the entire field. I can't tell you how many poorly graded archery ranges I've been on, but the leveling done for Adelphi was done well! The targets are fine too, logically spaced and positioned right in line of one another. Cuts down on potentially awkward situations unlike at the Needwood archery range and you can shoot too at varying distances without much worry. There are some archery/coaching clubs that will frequent the range but they don't seem nearly as large, or popular like some of the ones over at Needwood and don't seem too interested in throwing any weight around. So no need to worry about territorial situations. Also, the large number of targets and their logical positioning and spacing helps out here as well as opposed to the mere four that Needwood has which are poorly placed and positioned. Only draw backs is where its located but also inconsistent maintenance. For instance, I was there recently and the grass was very high. Started putting suntan lotion on and noticed a tick. Had to go home early in lieu of and wash up. Related, deer apparently frequent the range alot and leave droppings behind. But mostly, I've found the range very accessible and rarely ever bothered by anyone here. I had some great memories here in 2019 and hope for maybe a few more.

One of the few private gun clubs in the anti-gun state of Maryland. Berwyn is a wonderful place to…read morego and practice marksmanship. They have a lot of members from all walks of life, from hunters to law enforcement, casual target shooters to dedicated competitors. Despite recent pressures from Maryland legislation, Berwyn's membership remains strong and may even be growing larger as one of the few venues people can use for their hobby or career. The range itself is set in the woods of rural Bowie. Admittedly, it looks more like a Boy Scouts camp than a major high-tech range, but that's part of its charm. They have three "no sky" ranges, meaning there are baffles set to block any stray bullets that do not head down the range. A 50 foot, a 50 yard, and a 100 yard allow people to use whatever they need for their chosen firearms. As an outdoor range, you can expect to deal with weather and climate as well as insect life. I always check the forecast before deciding to head out there. As a private range, this is not accessible to the general public. To gain access you must send an e-mail asking about membership. Within a month, you will know if you are approved to join (I've never known anyone to be turned down). After that, you have access to the range, but must remember to follow all range rules, including proper safety, avoiding damage to the range, and cleaning up after yourself. If you're into firearms, for anything from hunting to marksmanship, and looking for a good range in the Prince George's and Arundel area, then I recommend looking into this place. I appreciate how the staff were patient in explaining all the specifics and details of how to use the bow , safety of the class and also how to maintain a safe environment when not using the bows. The instructor provided us (class of 6) with useful tips on aiming , positioning and also how to load the bows . I would love to come back with a group of 10 to experience the fun atmosphere just like we did and let more people know about this place and the fun of archery or even fencing as it isn't popular in southern PG

We decide to go with archery and price per person is about 27 dollars. First, the facility is a bit hard to find because the front door is located in the back behind the baseball store but atleast it has a big parking lot so no issue there. Upon entering we were greeted by the staff and seated to prepare for our archery lesson. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the lesson fun. You know that when you are having fun that time seems to fly by so that hour archery lesson went by quickly. All in all, I had a fun time here with my family and would highly recommend anyone of any ages come here and try some archery.

After chatting with my fellow members and archery lovers at IWLA ARL-FFX, and my bowhunting friends at work, they all swore by Hoffman. The latter was interesting, as my friend lives near Quantico, so the fact that he is willing to drive up to Hoffman's from that distance speaks volumes about the quality. I went up yesterday after work to swap my peep sight and buy new arrows. And I gotta say the entire experience was fantastic. If I couldn't see Hoffman's 100000 rating out of 5, I would!! The entire staff was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The store had plenty of the good stuff -- no junk archery crap. And if you have questions or come prepared with stuff in mind, they'll have a healthy discussion with you and ask you questions, so that 1. You get your money's worth and 2. It's catering to your archery goals. Businesses like that are rare to see, and they provide a personal flair that explains why so many peers are repeat customers. The pricing was fair, and I didn't feel like I got ripped off. I received great service from friendly, knowledgeable staff, and I will return for all my archery needs. If I could give it 10 stars I absolutely would…read more I walked in with my wife after driving an hour and fifteen minutes and decided to get an old bow fixed or upgrade to something different. Farron and his crew were super friendly and gave me a ton of options. I explained to them I would spend more time target shooting but would do the occasional deer hunting trip. They provided me with a MISSON SWITCH that's made by Mathews that was a budget bow but great for the money. Surprisingly my wife decided she wanted a crossbow out of thin air. Farron and his crew spent about 3-4 hours guiding us and setting up both new bows. After all said and done between bows, arrows, release, quiver, target,, and several other pieces we walked out with a phenomenal price. What I loved is they didn't immediately drop a 3k bow and just try to oversell and push product. The staff is beyond knowledgeable and makes sure you happy with your purchase. Further, we donated the bow as Farron will provide it to a local Christian church who's starting an archery program. If you have a bow and need it fixed or looking for an upgrade you HAVE to come here. After my wife and I walked out we were beyond impresses. Not only did we get new bows but we met other customers of theirs who even agreed to allow us to hunt on property they manage. Take a ride out here, meet with staff, and you won't be disappointed.
