Had a great experience with my family who love puzzles. Christian, Grace, and Sheur were really helpful and patient.

We booked with Mission Escape Rooms for a fun weekend activity to do. They are located inside Arundel Mills Mall, in Neighborhood 2. This was my first time trying Mission Escape. We booked online in advance to get the time slot we wanted, but if your schedule is more flexible, there is currently a 15% discount special for walk-ins through 11/2/2025 (there are plenty of ways to kill time in this giant mall). I'm used to being paired with strangers, but each booking with Mission Escape is private, so your group will have the room to yourselves to figure out the puzzles and clues. It is an experience after all, so despite booking by room, you still pay per person (~$40). You should get there a few minutes early to sign the waiver. They also have restrooms inside to take care of business before you go locking yourselves in a room for an hour (technically 50 minutes). After we filled out the waivers, we were escorted to our room and the gamekeeper gave us an overview of the experience. Pictures are not allowed and phone use is not really allowed, other than to use as a flashlight or calculator. The room also had a small clipboard with paper and a pen if you needed scratch paper. For the fall season, they have some spookier themed rooms. I'm not into scary, so we did the Fantastical Chocolate Factory room (naturally). The room has a 6.5/10 difficulty, which I would say is one of the easier rooms. The rooms are small. We were a group of two, and three would've felt like a crowd... but they allow you to squeeze in up to eight people! Based on the room difficulty and our experience with escape rooms, two was plenty. They have an intercom system if you need to patch in for clues. They'll also give you warnings as time elapses (20 minutes remaining, 10 minutes remaining, etc.). We did need to ask for one clue towards the end... beware of red herrings (but that's part of the fun). Our goal in the chocolate factory room wasn't to escape, but rather to discover the secret recipe for the everlasting gobstopper. By "recipe," they mean "ingredient," which felt a bit anticlimactic at the end. I would've appreciated more debriefing at the end of the experience. With 10 minutes remaining, I went into panic mode and was able to crack the locks with the information that we had, but I'm not sure if we solved every clue as intended. When we "escaped," a staff member opened the door, congratulated us, and escorted us back to the front to snap a picture with their photobooth props. Other escape room companies have better branding to advertise their name, or allow you to at least snap one picture to showcase the room. Overall, it was a fun way to spend an evening. The decor inside the room was realistic to fit with the theme, the puzzles are a good balance of feeling challenging enough to make you problem-solve, but not so much to make it feel impossible, and there were subtle clues in the room to guide you along without having to ask for help constantly. I would book another experience with Mission Escape Rooms. read more

When a few of my colleagues came into town for a function I thought it would be a good idea to take in a nearby escape room. We were staying nearby and this looked like the best place to try a room. I reserved the room beforehand online and just had to show up. All we had to do was show up and sign the waiver. We were taken back to the room and given the rules of the room. That then went into the story of the room and we were let loose to. We did the Stranger Things themed room and made it through. But I would like to echo what one reviewer stated was that there were a few red herrings. Overall, the extra locks and misleading gameplay in the room made us waste a few minutes. Sometimes the clues, when asked for, weren't relevant. We asked for a clue at one point and they gave us a clue to a puzzle we already solved in the process. I also agree that the rating of the room is a bit off, supposed to be the hardest game, I think that was overshooting it. The ending was definitely weird. We thought the key that got us out was supposed to be used on another area in the room. Once we realized this, we got out of the room. read more

Decent escape room. As a family we have done dozens of rooms so we are fairly well versed. A couple of oddities: - Locks in room that weren't part of game were not labeled as such. - 50 minute game - Rated 9.5/10 and was certainly not that difficult - Odd ending, had to ask "did we do it?" Clean room, fun theme. Game Master was a resource but we had to ask specific questions. Typical escape room prices but not up to par for only a 50 minute max game. 30% off additional rooms per the clerk if you booked same day, however they were full being the days in between Christmas and NYE. 10 people max per room, not private bookings. read more

Probably one of the better and safer escape room companies that I've been at! I would say you need at least 5 people to be successful in accomplishing a lot of the tasks as having less attendees can make it more challenging. This is my second time at this location and I personally liked the Witches' Winter Curse more than the Cabin themed room. I'd say definitely pay a visit if you can get together with co-workers, close friends or family that have tested negative or you know are safe! We had an awesome time here! Myself and five others did the medieval crimes room as well as the winter room and found it to be challenging but made it thru both rooms in under 40 minutes (time limit was 50). The medieval crimes room was creepy and cool and both rooms had doors to open to further expand the room, which is what I want in a good escape room. The lighting was also adjusted to the vibe of the rooms so you didn't just feel like you were at a room in the mall. The puzzles also made sense with the flow of the story. The guys running it told us that since no one was coming after us, we were free to keep trying if we didn't make it out after 50 minutes which was really cool. "Not my Fault" This was fun and worth it. Pricy but they do run deals check the Facebook for specials. My mom thought the room was too dark and was frustrate she and my 2 year old couldn't hang. I stayed with my older kids and no we did not get out lol but we are going back soon and we will escape. Conveniently located at Arundel Mills mall so parking is plentiful. I've been here a few times over the years, and I have fun each time. I think my family and I have done all of the rooms except the dinosaur one (they seem to be very against it. Lol). They puzzles are just the right amount of challenging, and I like the fact that we can ask for clues as much as we need to. The staff there is extremely friendly, and they even let my five year old hang out with them in the staff office while we played (she was a bit afraid of the rooms). My ONLY complaint is that the rooms are sooo dark. It's difficult to see instructions and the lock numbers. I love escape rooms. Mission Escape Rooms - We beat the record for the Cabin Fever room! - Escape Games Near Me - Hanover, Maryland

This was my third visit to the Escape Rooms at Arundel Mills Mall. Situated near TJMaxx, off the food court, it is tucked in, as a hidden gem among the mall stores. On our prior visit we had selected the Dino Room, with a rating of 6.5/10, there is a separate review for this experience but long story short the clues were absolute nonsense. We got out, but basically because we had to ask for clues as the storyline didn't connect together and we just couldn't figure things out. Even once knowing the clue, we didn't feel 'dumb' because a lot of the hints just proved the room was nonsense. After reviewing, Mission Escape's manager invited us back to try a different room at no cost. So this time, we returned to try Witches' Winter Curse. This room was Narnia meets Sherlock. It was harder at 8/10, but the clues were the right amount of challenge. We asked for one hint throughout the entire thing, and felt the answer was a stretch, but overall everything was solveable with a lot of thought It was a much better experience, with a lot more going on in the room to experience. The staff, both times were very friendly, and provided a really great experience. I think it's more about Mission Escapes honing in their story telling ability per room. They have rooms that really hit the mark or really miss the mark. So far we are 2 for 3 experiences (the other was Candy Island & we loved this one as well), so we will see what the future brings as they add more rooms. read more

I took part in the Forest Haven Asylum room with 2 other people on the 23rd at 6:20pm. I was a participant but not the person who booked the room. We overall had a pleasant experience but there are some things I wanted to call out. Pros: 1.. I think all their rooms are private, which was one of our worries initially. I'm personally not a huge fan of sharing the room experience with other random groups, so this room structure was a good experience for us. 2.. Charley our GM was great. We were promptly led into the room after filling out our waivers, even with another group there talking to the other cashier. Charley explained the room's background in an excellent way and cracked a couple of jokes. He also helped stop one of the lights flickering at the start. He gave great hints through out the experience. 3.. The ideas and concepts behind almost all the puzzles in the room were amazing. There were some unique puzzle concepts in the room. Cons: 1.. The ideas and concepts of the puzzles were good. HOWEVER, many puzzle implementations/mechanisms were VERY finicky. There were multiple puzzles where we had the right answer and we kept trying to input the right answer in, and the mechanism simply would not accept the right answer. Or when we had the right answer, and it unlocked the puzzle, but we weren't even aware it was unlocked. There was one specific puzzle that I honestly don't think we could've solved correctly even if we had the GM on intercom walking us through it (we had all the right pieces to the solution). My advice for future participants would be to always use your hints, even if you're slightly unsure. You may have the right answer or on the right track, but the puzzle may not be accepting your answer. 2.. I'm not convinced the time limit (50 minutes) is realistic for above average puzzle roomers. Us 3 have solved multiple rooms in the past, and we maybe could've solved the room if some of the puzzles weren't as finicky, but it would have been really tough. My advice to Mission Escape would be to at least add a visible timer to the rooms, so that participants can actively see how much time they have left. 3.. We had enough space for the 3 of us. Online, it says the room experience can fit upto 8 people, but I can't imagine more than 5-6 people comfortably navigating this room experience, just based on the physical dimensions of the room experience. Overall it was a fun time. I can see us coming back to this business in the future. If I had to do this room again, I would make sure to use a lot more hints tho, to check my answers (correct or not) if we get stuck on a puzzle read more

I visited Mission Escape Rooms at the Arundel Mills location this past Saturday, 8/22. It's situated nearish the food court in a really nicely decorated space I never would have thought could house so many of these escape rooms. A friend and I chose the "Last Showing" room that had the lowest difficulty rating, 6/10. This was my first escape room and I didn't want to overdo it. We had to wait about 20 minutes in the nice lobby before we were able to access the room. One of the employees led us back to the room and explained the rules, and how we could contact her if we needed clues. Then she left and locked us in. Long story short, we didn't make it out. We didn't even get past the 3rd clue, really. In one case, the lock wasn't working for us and the nice employee had to come back and reset it, but overall...that place made me feel pretty stupid, lol. I swear we harassed that employee endlessly for clues and just couldn't figure things out. I had a good time but am now feeling like my detecting skills are sub par. I don't have any pictures because patrons aren't allowed to take them and I didn't want to break any rules. I want to go back but not sure my ego can take it? I have been frequenting Mission Escape in Arundel Mills and I would typically recommend this location to others for a guaranteed fun experience. My last experience there has made me extremely hesitant to do so in the future. When attempting to book the room for 2:10, I was informed that our group would not receive the full time. When asked why the full time could not be guaranteed, we were told that another group was planned to be arriving for the 3:10 appointment; however, you are allotted 50 minutes to solve the puzzle, which still left ample time in between bookings. When bringing it to the associate's attention that this should not be an issue, she offered a time 2 hours later to another room (I've already completed all the other rooms that this location offers). When the associate was informed that this option would not work for us, she walked away without any explanation as to why or next steps. Another associate had to come out and assist our group when he noticed that we were waiting for no reason, and asked the associate that walked away to escort us to the room. After expressing our displeasure at this information and wasting an additional 10 minutes in debate with staff, my group was allowed to enter the room at 2:20. However, another male associate (not the one who ACTUALLY helped us) accompanied our group, making comments that he wanted to "ensure that she was safe," referring to the other associate who walked away as she was helping us. He insinuated that we were hostile and did not feel comfortable with us in the building. The whole of our interactions only consisted of asking why we would not receive our full time. We simply disagreed with the team member. No one was touched, harmed, threatened, called anything other than the name given at birth, or any other action that one would typically refer to as hostile. The room in question was extremely difficult (which was to be expected); however, staff were not forthcoming with clues and information as we requested assistance in the room. It felt as though we were ignored in our requests, and it felt as though the reasons were based upon the negative interaction that we received at the time of booking. The intercom was pressed and several minutes would pass before we received acknowledgement. When acknowledged, the clues were not helpful and unclear, which is a shame, as the staff at this location are usually extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and courteous. At the end of the experience, we left and became aware that there was no other group booked at 3:10 (the place was literally empty), so the issue of another booking following our group turned out to be a moot point and essentially a lie. I have completed every other puzzle at this location, and the inclusion of a new one gave me a sense of excitement because I really enjoy the product that this company provides. Every single time is pleasant and enjoyable, as it should be, regardless of how I felt about the puzzle itself. However, this time was the exception. I don't understand the intention behind the interaction that we received at Mission Escape this experience, but in the multiple years I have been frequenting this location, I've never been treated like this before. read more

We ended up booking the 'Candy Island' room which was perfect. It offered challenging puzzles for both our 10 year old, as well as us adults. I have been to this escape room twice now. I participated in two different rooms now and both times received terrible customer service. They were not only mean but also snarky in their responses. They were being rude to my friend and wouldn't explain the room to us. The rooms were also very confusing and almost impossible to figure out without hints. First and foremost, I have no reason to post my experience under an alias, nor do I need to instruct a grown man on what to write regarding HIS experience. As yelp reviewers, we do not post reviews for businesses to determine their accuracy or whether they would accept/deny a review. We post to share OUR experiences based on OUR perceptions. Darryl is very capable of posting a review based on HIS experience. He included information that I did share with him, because nonetheless, it is still a result of HIS overall experience with your staff and business. However, please note, the rest of his post is regarding HIS personal experience based on how HE felt. You mentioned that he must have heard a story from the another person he was with and decided that it was fact. Well seeing as how you weren't there, you too, in fact heard your version from a staff member and determined it to be fact. Sounds like to two have something in common. I think it may be quite normal for someone to question why they won't be receiving the full 50 mins of a service, when they arrive 2 mins after the service is supposed to start. If I wanted to book a room at 2:10 pm, receive the full amount of time (50 mins), I am 2 mins late, and the next room does not start until 3:10, I don't see why I wouldn't be afforded the full 50 mins when there is still time to spare. That is what was in question. Your staff member did indeed walk away from me, and I am sure your cameras would show just that. Another gentleman had to come over and ask me if I needed help. I responded, I am not sure what I am waiting for. The girl then came back and APOLOGIZED and stated, "I am sorry I need for you to fill out the waiver," instructions that were not stated prior to her walking away. So instead of posting a response to DARRYL including my name and calling me hostile, maybe you should use your 20 years of customer service to reach out to HIM privately, and get more information about HIS experience. I am sure he would be more than willing to share his perception of what happen. Your response included my personal information in response to a review that I did not post. I do not think that is appropriate. I think we both know that is very unprofessional. It also included the name of another guest that had absolutely nothing to do with this experience or post. We had a good time. Family trip with 3 generations. We aren't escape room connoisseurs, but we have done close to a dozen rooms. Not going to "out" the room. Well themed room, well designed, so many nods to the source material. Some really good puzzles! But... 1. There were a lot of really involved clues/puzzles. More involved than anything I have seen before. 2. There were a LOT of red herrings. Almost excessively too many. It was really frustrating, making us wonder if we missed things or if things didn't work properly. Because- 3. Some things didn't work properly. Like, we correctly solved a few clues where the item didn't react properly and we had to ask for help, to be told to try again and have it work the second time. Or some things that should have been locked, werent. For example, one door opened very easily. Then we spent some time figuring out the puzzle that apparently... opened the very same door we had already opened. Cool puzzle, but sad we didnt get the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of our work. 4. One item held most of the clues. That was a weird choice. I cant say more, but I am sure the staff understands. Weird choice. 5. The comm system. Oof. I wish our room host hadnt been busy and alone. When we left, there were other employees, but we started almost 15 minutes late (no biggie for us, we finished early and had nowhere to be! But I felt bad for him) because he had to reset a room, get another started, reset our room, then get us started, all by himself. We all had to take our own photos or ask other guests to help us take a photo because no employee could help. Thats not an experience we have ever had. We have always had a room host take a group photo in the room. But he didnt have time. 50 minutes is odd. We have done, like I said, about a dozen escape rooms, and never had one be 50 minutes, which seems to be what this place does. Its fine, but kinda weird. It felt far more rushed. In spite of all of that, we had a good time! Had fun. And we escaped! In plenty of time. Would consider trying another next time we are in town. read more

The upside down room was not it. We've been to a couple escape rooms before and this is probably the one with the lowest quality. No wow factors and just a knock off of the Netflix show Stranger Things. Too many redundancies and too few clues. Asking for help through the intercom too was a hassle. Staff wasn't very helpful (had a lot of sarcasm) and the intercom system is very outdated (no countdown for time either). For $40 a person this was definitely not worth it. read more

Wasn't impressed with the Upside Down room. Way too difficult and the puzzles didn't make much sense. We're seasoned escape room players and this is the first room we really struggled with the puzzles being overly difficult. Made the game not fun whatsoever. We tried using their unlimited hints but the intercom was fuzzy and incomprehensible. When we could understand the person, they were very short in their hints and we felt we were inconveniencing them. Overall not a good experience with Mission Escape games. Super friendly staff. I had 4 kids plus a baby and the staff was majorly accommodating. They took pictures of them doing a million different poses with the props. The rooms are well put together. This room was challenging but not frustratingly challenging. We allowed the kids to do most of the work and stood in when they needed help... to which we just used our unlimited help button to speak with the staff for clues. The kids really enjoyed this and sparked their interest in completing more escape rooms. read more

We were really impressed with the quality, attention to detail, challenge, and hospitality of this location! Our chosen room was the medieval themed one and it was so immersive. You feel like you're in a brilliantly designed game and piecing together details based on astute observations. It was thoughtfully made to incorporate necessary and unnecessary/false clues but solvable for the good spirited. We were JUST shy of making it out. Our recommendations would be to let the group finish for 5-10 minutes if appropriately close to solving the last step, or to give a heads up/offer a clue at minute 45 of 50 total. Secondly, please make sure the younger front desk staff are aware they are part of the experience and that customer service always matters. Our brief interaction with one team member was less than ideal but cannot take away from how fantastic everyone else was. Edit upon reading other reviews: you have to ask for hints! This is my first ever review and I felt the need to write because it was the worst experience I have ever had in an escape room, and I have been to over 10. Extremely poor quality, everything from broken game props, locks, to terrible intercom system where they don't even reply on time. Complete waste of money, do not come here. This place is terrible. I tried to give my fiancé a great birthday experience and the staff here basically ruined it. He enjoyed himself but I was still upset at the customer service, or lack thereof. Before I made the appointment, I had a pleasant conversation with a young lady in person. She answered all of my questions to the best of her ability. However, when we arrived, everything started to go downhill. People in our party said they were going to be late. Before they arrived, I called and asked an employee if it was okay if guests joined the escape room during the session. She said yes and hung up the phone. I show up without everybody in my group, tell another employee the same situation at the desk, and they tell me that none of that is true. I was honestly okay with that because I was annoyed at people being late anyway. After filling out our waivers and being seated in the waiting area, a "manager" comes over to us with the most nonchalant attitude and says, "so... who did you speak with over the phone? I don't know what else to tell you though..." I'm literally getting more annoyed at this point. What kind of customer service etiquette is this? She walks off without saying anything else and goes back behind the booth. 20 minutes later, another employee comes over and says "we have you booked for another experience and time..." I'm even more confused because this was never prompted. Then the girl has the audacity to say "well, I asked you this beforehand when you were first seated." I basically laughed in her face because she thought we were stupid enough to not call her out on this. She called it a miscommunication but never apologized for it. We really only ended up staying because my fiancé really wanted to enjoy the experience... And I'm okay with businesses not issuing refunds but when your business offers terrible customer service, you should rethink some things... I for one, won't be back. read more

Staff is rude and disrespectful. Tessa and Jay(manager?) made up a story and ran with it. Said I called Tessa retarded and I said their payment system was outdated. My exact words "it's 2022 this system makes no sense it's outdated". Tessa didn't explain herself well our whole interaction and that was fine, I had no issue with her as she was pleasant while trying to do her job. Buy outright lying and slandering my name? This place was so much fun! I love doing escape rooms and I love the concept of having it in the mall for a quick, fun experience. We did the medieval crimes room which was a lot harder than I expected (I should've known, it's rated 7/10 for difficulty). We had a group of seven people with us and we were all very intrigued by how intricate the rooms were designed for such a small space. Definitely a great experience for any ages with varying difficulty ranges. read more

I was SO looking forward to this experience, and unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. I've done about 10 escape rooms so I had an idea of what the experience could be like. Purchasing tickets here was easy and done online. Once we arrived we were met with the most bored, annoyed person who seemed bothered by having to introduce us to the rules and the room. Normally the gamekeeper is pumped up, excited, playful and fun. The room itself was quite easy and we filled out two of the six locks simply by guessing. I tried to contact the manager afterwards to share our experience but I never heard back from them. I would not recommend this location. read more

Did the medieval room today. The guy at the desk was very nice and professional. As well as the young lady that escorted us back was again very professional and very nice. Now the idea and concept for the room was very interesting with much potential however there were a few things that didn't connect with me. Mostly the game master was very slow at giving hints and very unclear when she finally got them out. After spending a combined time of 15 minutes and asking for hints she then says "oh you don't need to get that lock anymore" come to find out we had found the alternative 20 minutes prior to the 15 minutes wasted trying to figure it out. Btw this is only a 50 minute escape room. After failing to give timely clear hints we failed to escape and that would have been ok except when she came in she said " you didn't get to far" just rude and i will not be returning or recommending this location to anyone. Very sad because like i said this room had a huge potential. Hope they can correct these as well as a few other small issues. Had a great time! Our room was a level 7 difficulty and we got out just in time. Can't wait to come back

A group of six of us walked in after we called(we were at bonefish) to ask what time escape rooms were available. When we walked in zack was on a personal phone call and shut the door so we waited for him to get done in the waiting room area for him to inform us that the rooms "run like movies" that we could not do it he said it 4 min past the start time (we were on time he was just on the phone) and we could not do the room.
