We have fired A1 Outdoor Services and are hiring a new contractor to complete the work…read more We contracted for A1 Outdoor Services to do three jobs: · bush hog a certain area, which included removing small trees and bushes, killing all vegetation, leveling and reseeding. · Power wash and stain our backyard fence · Rebuild a vegetable garden, removing two existing galvanized garden containers, leveling, placing a weed protector under the surface, replacing the containers and building a fence. leveling the garden. He was been paid two thirds of the price thus far, and none of the work is anywhere near complete. He charged $1700 for "supplies" and told us he would show us how much the supplies cost. When asking how a couple of 5-gallon containers of stain, plus a few wooden boards and metals posts add up to $1700, he said I have to pay for the cost of running his machines. He has only used a bush hog machine for about a few hours, a power washer, which used my water, and an amateur staining gun. How this equates to $1700 in materials is beyond me. It has more been 5 weeks now, and we have: · A bush hogged area which has not been leveled, weed and vegetation not killed and no overseeding, for which we paid him for the entire cost. · A power washed fence, which was only approximately three quarters done. The stain was not applied thick enough to saturate the areas he completed, so that he could save money from the $1700 for "supplies" we paid him. He showed up initially with one 5-gallon stain for a fence which he told us would need 3 5-gallon containers, skimping on the supplies. · The garden has only the wooden posts up, no metal wire fencing installed, the containers have not been moved to place the weed protection down, nor a gate installed. He stated he would not move the galvanized raised gardens contains to place the weed protection because it was not in writing and he was doing me a "favor". He was paid two thirds of this price already. The fence is clearly not uniform, as clearly the back of the fence and front where the gate is to go are not the same width. Yet he stated the fence was "mostly complete". He also offered to cut down 4 trees and replace them in our front yard for free. Yeah right! He can't even do the work he was paid for, yet along give something for "free". I told him to forget his freebies and get this job done. I am unable to get my sprinkler installed until he finishes the vegetable garden, which will have sprinklers running under it. When I asked that he complete my vegetable garden first, he told me I do not get to choose what I want completed first. Time after time, he chooses to come when he wants, cancels, reschedules....it goes on and on. He showed up yesterday to "complete" the job after 12 pm. He brings his wife and kids. The kids are running all over my back yard and up the steps of my deck. Very professional.... When I told him I wanted him gone and would hire another contractor to complete the job he told me to shove the remaining amount due to him up my "butt". It is interesting that I read THREE other reviews on Home Advisor and Networx about taking customer's money and not finishing the job. Sounds like a pattern to me. I would absolutely not recommend this man for any job you have! He claims to have all these "employees" and equipment, yet his excuses have been all of his employees quit and his machine broke down. I have yet to see an employee! Before I end this review, I must say, if you choose to hire him, GET EVERY LITTLE DETAIL IN WRITING!!!! HE HAS BACKED OUT OF CERTAIN SPECIFICATIONS FOR MY GARDEN BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT SPECIFIED IN THE CONTRACT, yet he had agreed to perform certain tasks.
