There was some initial hesitation, but after explaining the reason he said he could do it and would come out and look the job over tomorrow, even texted for additional information which was provided. I had a scheduled tree trimming for December 7, 2018 confirmed via email after being requested to sign and scan back my quote. They no-showed with no call or email. As of this writing, it is December 13, 2018 and I still have not received a call or email. They removed a pine tree that was in close proximity to neighbor's home, trimmed and shaped my magnolia tree, and thinned canopy on large maple in my front yard. It went very well. Providers arrived on time and performed the work in a safe and expedient manner after confirming with me. There were two minor issues. First, their stump grinder was not functioning/not available that day as previously discussed and we are waiting for them to come back to grind the stump. Now, it has not yet been a week since they were there. The other minor issue was that their truck leaked a small amount of oil onto my driveway. It left a black stain that I will have to clean at some point in the future. They left the area clean, aside from some sawdust (which is to be expected) and hauled away all of trimmings. Overall, very pleased with the work and I will definitely use them again and refer others. read more

They did a good job removing the tree, and a lousy job removing the stump. They don't show up, don't call, and when pressed give another date when they won't show up, won't call, and when pressed give another date. Finally decided to live with stump. VERY unprofessional. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! Be warned and don't use this company, it will only end bad for you. After requesting an estimate for a tree service, Matt came to my house He recommended I have the tree removed rather than trimmed, the stump ground down and a new, different species of tree planted. As we were talking he said, "We can do it all in a day and I'll even dig a new hole for the new tree, so it will be in a better spot." I agreed to this proposal. Later the same day I received an estimate for services and noticed the digging of the new hole was not included in the cost, but since he was "throwing it in as a freebee" I figured there was no need to have it listed. I signed the estimate and scheduled the service for Monday of the following week, reminding the office manager of the fact Matt agreed to dig a new hole which wasn't listed on the estimate. - On Monday (03 MAY) I received a call at about 2pm saying they weren't going to be able to make it to my house and asked if Tuesday would be OK. I had no problem with this and happily agreed. - On Tuesday (04 MAY), Matt showed up and immediately said, "I can't grind the stump today, but you'll need to pay for the tree removal today. I'll grind the stump tomorrow" I thought that was a bit odd, but I agreed to pay for the tree removal. When observing the tree removal I witnessed Matt speaking with his helper and mentioning a cash problem. Matt said he would have to run back home to get cash to be able to get this person the money he owed him for the day and that would put him farther behind. When I heard this I offered to pay Matt in cash for the tree removal for the day, I just needed to make a quick trip to a cash machine. I not only did that, but I actually followed Matt and his helper to their next job to personally hand Matt the cash. My only request was a receipt for the payment. Matt said, "I'll send you a text later." By the next afternoon I didn't receive the text, so I had to send him a text requesting he acknowledge the cash payment I made. He did respond, but the fact I had to initiate the request when I went so far as to follow him to his next job and place it in his hands was somewhat surprising. - The next day (Wednesday, 05 MAY) the stump grinder arrived early on a trailer and was parked in front of my mailbox. There the grinder and trailer sat Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (05-07 MAY) with no stump grinding taking place. On Friday afternoon Matt called to say he just found out the stump grinder had been at my house, but he wasn't going to be able to grind the stump until the following week. I informed him I would be out of town the following week, and asked if there was any reason why I would have to be there for the stump grinding and digging the new hole. He confirmed both would be done before I returned the following Friday. - The following Friday (14 MAY) I returned home to find the stump ground, but no new hole dug. I figured this was a par for the course delay Matt had already shown. After waiting 11 days, I called the office and left a message on Tuesday (25 MAY) asking for 1) status of the new hole to be dug and, 2) a final balance due. I received no response until Friday (28 MAY) when the office manager called me and asked if final payment could be collected before the end of the day. I replied my understanding was the job wasn't finished until the new hole was dug, and I didn't have a final invoice to pay anyway After another call of the office manager playing middle person to what Matt and I were saying, I suggested Matt call me. Matt immediately reneged on his promise to dig the new hole and accused me of being two weeks late in paying, despite the fact he never provided a final invoice or gave any indication he was "done" with the job. read more

We had 2 trees on the property that needed to be removed. An Oak right on the property line, interrupting the fence, that seemed like it was dying and had fallen on the neighbors house about 3 years ago when the house was still foreclosed on. The one Pine that was chocking out the another tree we liked better (very healthy tree). The property was abandoned about 6 years and the trees neglected far longer.... but they needed some TLC. That was all we requested, 2 trees removed. Goodfellers came out and evaluated ALL the trees on the property for the first estimate. They let us know ahead of time OTHER issues with the remaining trees. A Maple that was actually 2 trees, grown together, growing in separate directions that the wind was shearing and ripping at every chance. A Willow Oak that needed to have a trim to keep it healthy. FAR MORE information than any of the other SEVEN tree servicing companies we had come out and do an estimate had provided us. They were able to schedule us within a decent amount of time from when we called back to let them know we were planning on using their services. They also kept us in the loop about the standard maintenance time that kept their vehicles in the shop. (It's so so SO great to see a company who will have a direct dialogue with you during vehicle and or tool maintenance that prevents them from making their appointment with you). Day 1 with their trucks and 3 men (owner and 2 employees) took out the dying Oak. It was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit so the guys were able to chop all but about 10 feet of the tree and haul the timber away. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have water available for your guys. It's SO important to keep them hydrated and safe while they service your property! They left their vehicles at the house (we had NO problems with that, neither did the neighbors!) Day 2 was literally the next day and they showed up promptly at 8:30am to begin work, with the same 3 gentlemen. They took out the rest of the Oak. Disposed of that promptly. There was about 2 feet of trunk we wanted to keep solid so we could make a table out of it and they went out of their way to make sure that was left in good condition and rolled away where it would not be mistaken as throw away. They then took down the Pine and attached an metal wire anchor with bolts at the upper portion of the Maple so it could begin to heal and not chafe the bark. The last thing they did was trim about 20% of the Willow Oak. It was wonderful to see the owner up in the bucket doing the trimming. Most owners don't like to get their hands dirty. This guy wanted to be a part of the action! After the trimming they fed the pieces to the shredder machine that threw the mulch into the attached truck. They armed themselves with rakes and leaf blowers and did a bang up job at cleanup. They went into our neighbors yard and cleaned up all the debris. I kid you not, he was THRILLED at how well they cleaned up; they even put all the boards back up on the fence! They have dogs are really appreciated the extra care to ensure the dogs would not escape. They tried to pick up the smallest piles of leaves and twig trimmings as efficiently as possible. Blew all the excess leaves off the ENTIRE yard. We have a quarter of an acre. That was wonderful to see that level of detail to ensure they left a minimum trace. While they were cleaning, I had the back neighbor pop his head through the fence to get a card. He had been watching them the last 2 days and wanted to use them to remove his Sweet Gum tree. THAT to me says a lot. Day 3 they came back with their stump grinding machine. We had to remove a portion of the fence, as the Oak was interrupting and spreading into the neighbors yard, but not a problem for us. They ground the stump out. They do NOT chase roots, so you're kinda stuck with those until they decide to degrade... They also ground the stump of the Pine. Absolutely outstanding, respectful gentlemen. Very wonderful to see the same group come back day after day. I highly recommend these guys to service your property for tree removal or tree trimming. Let's face it. I'm NOT a certified arborist and I can pretty much guarantee anyone researching is not one either. Let these guys take care of your trees to ensure they stay healthy and give you shade and aesthetic pleasure to your home for years to come. Anyone can get a pull saw on an extension stick and take out trees limbs that are about the size of your finger... but it takes a dedicated professional to assess your entire property, show love to ALL of your trees and make sure you are nothing less that completely satisfied before they leave. We have used this tree service for years and highly recommend them for any tree treatment and removal of your trees!! On Aug 12th this year we had a micro burst which destroyed a lot of trees. Called Matt the next day because we had trees blocking our drive and he came out the next morning and removed the trees from the drive. Matt gave us a quote to remove the rest of the damaged trees and more importantly the tree on our roof. Matt and his crew are very professional and expert in removing trees with a great deal of care and clean up. His quote was very reasonable and fair. The work they did was good, but they were scheduled to come to my house around 2:00 and didn't get there until 6:00 pm with no call or notification. Trimmed a few trees and cut down a smallish tree quickly and professionally and did a good job of cleaning up my lawn. They didn't have the stump grinder there that day, telling me it comes from another company but it would be there by the end of the following week. I called Friday afternoon and was told I'd receive a call back. I called again Saturday (they're open) and the call went straight to voice mail twice. I ended up cancelling that part of the service, which was disappointing because they had already done the more expensive part of the job. Time was of the essence so I had to hire another company to do the stump grinding, and I wish I would have hired them to do the whole job because I regret giving Goodfellers any of my business. read more

Services completed in 2015. They made a scheduling error and then got angry at us when we said the new day they wanted to come didn't work for us as my husband worked nights at the time. The owner was rude, unprofessional and cursed at me over the telephone. The work completed when finally done was decently done, but I have since had another arborist come out to do work for me and Goodfellers paled in comparison. Goodfellers were not on time and they were rude and disrespectful. When I recently had tree work done by a different arborist I was so impressed with them and how they cleaned up the job site whereas Goodfellers left a mess. In addition... Goodfellers was supposed to grind a stump and never did. Said they would come back to do so and never did.Being a military family, we like to support veteran owned business and local business, sadly Goodfellers doesn't live up to a quality standard and cursing me out for your mistake is not acceptable. read more

Very professional arborists, they did a great job with the trees on my property. They were prompt, courteous, and fairly priced.

1. We received a quote prior to tree trimming, in which the owner assessed the property prior to starting work. 2. The day after the trees were trimmed, the owner presented to the property with a large diesel truck and large wood chipper, revving the engine so loud I came out of my house (along with the rest of my neighbors) to see what was going on. 3. Branches on my neighbor's tree were snapping and popping from the chipper being backed up, so I informed the ground guide and the driver to stop and pull forward. 4. The owner ordered me to move my car. I moved two cars, giving him full access to the front on the house. The owner continued to try and back the chipper, only to run up on to the curb and in my neighbors flower bed. My neighbor came out and informed the owner the chipper and truck would not fit down the drive. 5. The owner was blocking traffic, in which one lady blew her horn to alert the owner he was blocking traffic. The owner got out of his truck and started yelling at the lady. The owner got back into his truck and moved. 6. The owner remained in his truck and yelled out the window to me, "I'm done, I'll charge you for the drop but I'm out of here". 7. The police showed up regarding someone blocking traffic. I had to have a 20 minute conversation with the police about the incident, while my neighbors watched. 8. I still have tree branches in my yard. read more

We hired Goodfellers to remove 3 Holly trees and grind the stumps. They did not show or call for our first scheduled appointment. They came the next day and removed the trees (they were very nice, did a great job and were fast), but said their stump grinder was broken. We were told they would follow up when they either had their stump grinder fixed or when they got a new one. Weeks went by and there was no communication. So I sent an email. No response. I called and left a message. No response. I emailed and called a second time. No response. After one final email, we hired someone else to remove the stumps. It didn't bother me that the grinder was broken or that we needed to wait. The complete lack of communication wasn't acceptable. read more

Extremely happy with services provided for removal of 4 small-mid size trees, 2 of which were dead. Additionally tree service thinned the canopy of a large tree on the property as a precautionary measure to avoid potential future property damage. Staff were professional, passionate, and did exactly what they said they would do and left the project site clean as if they had never been onsite. I thought their prices were reasonable and the time between initial inquiry, site visit, quote, and project work taking place was very good.
