Our dog is genuinely cared for here and loves going! We would recommend them to anyone looking for daycare, boarding, or training.

My lab loves coming here during our times out of town. The owners are very friendly, flexible, and clearly experienced.

My dog loves camp and they know him by name. He pretty much lets himself in through the doors when…read morewe get there! And, he's always super tired when I pick him up. The socialization and play piece is wonderful. I have used the boarding and day camp frequently over the last few years. I have also gotten the exit bath a few times. I like that there is always a Camp Counselor (human) in the room when I check on my dog via the web cams during day camp. I agree with other reviewers in that it sometimes seems like the Camp Counselors are not interacting with the dogs. You can see them on the web cams leaning over the fencing apparatus and facing away from the dogs. Nevertheless, my dog must enjoy camp since he always comes home so tired. The exit baths have been fine, but I do prefer the baths from my usual groomer. I feel like they are always trying to up-sell you on the exit bath. Either way, in-house baths are a convenient option and I'm glad they are available. I appreciate that the staff is communicative. If they don't answer the phone when you call them, they will call back. My dog did get mild kennel cough-type symptoms a few times after camp when he was younger. I always figured this was pretty much unavoidable in boarding situations. It's not been a problem as he's gotten older. My biggest criticism is re: the pricing. Prices went up significantly at the beginning of the year. For example, one night of boarding without a package was $35 and now it's $42. I know this because their old prices are still posted online as of the writing of this review (http://www.campbowwow.com/columbia-sc/services-pricing/dog-boarding). I feel that they should either honor what's posted online or change the online posting. After looking around online, I saw that other franchises increased their prices as well but several had posted notices online on their price page so that pet owners could buy packages before the prices increased. I wish I had been notified of the upcoming price increase, as I would have taken advantage of such an opportunity. In fact, I didn't find out about the price increase until I picked my dog up from boarding one weekend. At this time, the prices weren't actually posted anywhere (they are usually on a framed printed off piece of paper next to the front desk). I understand that prices have to go up from time to time, but some communication around the price changes should have happened. I have also noticed some changing faces among the staff. Before the prices increased, there were a few employees who always seemed very attentive and approachable. However, they don't seem to be there anymore. Some of the newer staff, while still friendly, just don't seem to have the same levels of love and enthusiasm for the job as previous staff.

I'm new to Columbia, and I've never had a dog before I got Harry. Griffin Animal Hospital and Dr…read more Callaghan made me feel so welcome and confident to raise this puppy. Excellent service, kind and knowledgeable staff. I was very anxious about raising this puppy on my own but every time I visit Griffin I feel reassured and confident. I had Harry neutered elsewhere, but when I saw him trying to lick his stitches I called Griffin and Dr. Callaghan and company saw me right away - provides a cone and medication at low cost, and checked Harry out to make sure he was OK. I have used their boarding services which were quite cheap ($13 fir the day) and Harry always enjoys being there. Dr. Callaghan is wonderful and enthusiastic and helpful - I wouldn't have anyone else take care of Harry. Same with the staff! Their faculties are clean and modern, very pleasant, and there are kindly resident dogs whom Harry is friends with. Would most definitely recommend, if you want a high quality, responsive, personal, and affordable vet!

I am writing this review now because I went to my new vet(Cat Clinic) the other day and had a wonderful, easy, affordable experience, and it made me write this review. First issue is the never ending "required tests" stool tests, bloodwork, and other things. They make you do them or at least made me every single time I came in regardless of the issue. This of course ran the bill up every single time to around $600-$700 dollars. Second issue was Dr. Griffins attitude. She couldn't be more abrasive if she tried and I always tried to be nice but I always got the feeling she seemed to feel like she was wasting her time talking to me. She was condescending and definitely didn't respect or care about my time. The final straw was when she said she tried to have me bring in another stool sample only two weeks after a prior visit just to get anxiety meds. It's literally 30% a scam to earn extra money. Lastly for example the Cat Clinic for a yearly check up was only $250 with two vaccines, Flea Meds for 2 cats, and anxiety meds. Which is the primary reason for writing this as I do feel I have been overcharged by Griffin for years. The Cat Clinic has never asked for a stool sample and they ask if I'd like to bloodwork which they don't recommend unless there's a concern. Goodluck with Griffin Animal Hospital if you don't believe me.

Was told over the phone dogs were $30 a night and inside there's a sign that says $36 if weighed more than 55lbs which ours is not - we were charged $36 a night anyway making it more than we planned on. The worst part is he smelt and felt like he had been rolling around in his own pee the whole time he was there. I understand accidents happen at kennels but as someone who used to work at one sending a dog home the way ours was is unacceptable and he should have at the very least been hosed off with water if they noticed the run was dirty. He doesn't have accidents at home and has never been picked up from his regular kennel smelling or feeling like this before.
