This review is long overdue (service occurred approximately Mar 2016), but with the recent exposure of animal maltreatment/abuse at pet groomers I couldn't let the community go unaware. Took our golden retriever for a summer cut and returned horrified to find that although the overall grooming was neat and professional (only reason for 2 vs 1-star), they SCALPED part of her skin off for a "hair knot"...my dog was very scared (not normal) upon my return and jumped through the doorway to me, and was actively bleeding for 2 hours after I picked her up! They didn't treat the wound they created, and worse seemed indifferent about hurting her. Beware!! read more

Well I think I've found my new go to pet groomer in Melbourne! Tried Doggy D'Tails today for the first time. I personally went in before I scheduled my appointment to explain my needs, as my little Shih Tzu, Deputy, has developed some anxiety now that he's older, so I had some concerns, especially after my last experience with my last groomer. Jacque was very professional, listened to my concerns, made me feel comfortable and assured me that my little Deputy would be well taken care of. They made me feel very comfortable. They did a great job! He looks great!!! They were prompt/ efficient, and all the staff was knowledgeable, friendly and very patient. They are very fairly priced as well- a full grooming for $40. The shop is clean, large and well spaced out with secure, but roomy holding areas for your pet. I was really impressed. read more

Upon entering this dog salon it's very apparent the owners and employees enjoy their work and care deeply about the service provided. My dog enjoys coming here and is treated well. She comes home with bows on her ears and a care-free attitude. The woman that usually checks us out at the end and calls me to pick her up is extremely pleasant and helpful. She is knowledgable about dog fur and grooming tips. Free treats are offered on the way out and my dog enjoys them. This business remembers regular customers dogs by name. New to Melbourne an first time visitor who will definitely be returning. They did a great job on Zuri, my 13 year old Shih Tzu and the price was reasonable. I was also pleased to see they didn't put the dogs in cages, but have actual stalls for the dogs to wait before and after grooming. read more

I took my dog there on a Sunday afternoon the last weekend in August at 1PM. I returned to pick up my sweet dog and I walked in before they actually had called me. This was the first time we used this place and I am new to Melbourne. When I walked in I felt something was a little off. The cut was fine, but the groomer made the comment that "your dog is older, but was more hyper than I thought he would be." I am friendly and thought OK ... maybe this was not a great connection between groomer and my dog. That same night and the next day my dog's husky like tail was not up in the natural curl form, but completely straight and hanging low and flat. My brother was visiting and we both saw a change in my dog's affect and the physical signs of his tail. I quickly called the Vet. The tail was not broken but the VET. felt the tail had been restrained / and /or severely pulled./ yanked. The vet. gave my dog a shot of anti-inflammatory and we did meds the next few days. My dog is doing much better now. I also left 2 phone messages to have the owner call me. No return call to date. I said that I wanted to share a story about my dog's experience at Doggy D'Tails. WE will NOT be returning there....and will drive back to Classy Cuts in Merritt Island where my dog always has a wonderful experience. My dog is 13 years old... he did not deserve this. This is the first time l've had my little Maltese away from her home groomer. She was long overdue for her spa! I chose Doggy D'tails based on Yelp reviews...and I'm NOT sorry I did! They were fantastic! Got her in right away! Front desk personnel was cheerful and knowledgeable about what type of trim and services I wanted! Adam did a BEAUTIFUL job on Lucy's grooming! I was hesitant as Lucy had only ever had female groomers, and doesn't much care for men, in general - so wasn't sure how she'd react to him. Absolutely no problems! So all the credit goes to Adam! He won her heart! She looks BEAUTIFUL! and the price was MORE than reasonable! I didn't know what to expect for grooming fees here in Melbourne...and was prepared to pay much more. i take my Weaton terrier to doggy details amd they do a great job. Weatons are not easy to groom. Bella always returns home lookin good.

Called last minute when I was on my way to Melbourne and they where very accommodating. I just used the service for a puppy bath but it seemed like a very nice place everyone was busy and everything looked good. We will be back. read more

Jackie, the owner has personality disorder. She yells at the dogs and clients, my dog began coming home nervous. I watched in the shop for a few minutes , and when they think no one is looking they scream at the dogs and handle them very rough. Needles to say I stopped going there. I go to a new groomer and my dog can't wait to get there. Just a friendly warning, hang around quietly and see for yourself. read more

My dog is kind of a special case and a real handful. They are so understanding of her needs and she always looks great when I pick her up!

I normally take my dogs there, but the last few times have been horrendous. This doesn't even include the second time we were there and saw a groomer hit a dog with a brush. I told Jackie the next time I visited the shop, what I saw and it was dismissed. My dog came home with my daughter one day for a nose bleed .. They blamed my dogs nose bleeding for no reason at all and caused my a vet bill they didn't even offer to cover. Jackie, the owner, was completely rude today because she was "tired", and reprimanded me in front of everyone in her shop for disciplining my dog in front of her. This woman was nice in the beginning and then turned into a royal Bitch. The way I spoke to was disgusting and I'll never go back to that shop. They shaved my dog so close she had burn marks all over her. Got a call that my other dog had a cyst burst on leg was horrified ran down there and saw gouge cut in leg mind you he had just been to vet and has no cysts. They claim they didn't do it. Took dog immediately to vet after picking up and it was definitely a cut. Beware these people are not truthful! read more
