After reading about the low cost Spay Day in the newspaper (I thought awesome, daughter has no job remember), so we called this wonderful organization and they offered vouchers for spaying/neutering. After answering some questions and providing proof of unemployment; they sent the voucher by mail the very next day. Along with a list of vets. I highly recommend this organization, they also have a feral cat program. If you don't have a need for their services; how about a donation, I'll be sending them mine.

NorCal beagle rescue responded to me via email to take her in and upon research they look like they really cared and seemed nice. So we set up a date and time for them to get biscuit. I'm so upset with myself that I should've noticed the first red flag when they would take days to respond back after one message. They told me to drive all the way to Elk Grove at the vet clinic to drop her off and they'll come get her but yet I didn't get a chance to meet them myself. EVE was the one who spoke with me the entire time and promising that she'll update me with my dog's progress and health. Days passes by. No response. A month passes by I had to text and call again. The call didn't go thru but she finally responded and when she did, she said she passed away. Eve knew father dog means a lot to me and for her to do all this without any update hurts me and my family heart. She told me she will find my dog biscuit a nice home and will update me. After she told me my dog has died, I asked her when was the date of when she was passed. I asked her repeatedly about it and no response. I understand she was sick but Eve said she will get her the help she needed. If she couldn't help then why not tell me that so I can take her to someone who can help her. I will never forgive myself for letting our 10 year old beagle pass away without family. Horrific. I hope no one has to suffer the way me and my family did.

Went up Homeward Bound to get a successor to my Golden Simba after 13 years of greatness. They are…read morestaffed with volunteers and they truly want nothing but the best for their dogs. I'm in San Jose so it's impractical for them to meet and see my place (they're in Sacramento) so I sent pics and videos of my fenced backyard and interviews. Once I got the ok to adopt, I just kept on eye out on their website for a Golden I wanted. They had about 15 dogs there. Some Golden's, some Labs, some mixed ranging in sex, ages and temperaments. They're real clear about their ages and situations they think the dogs would be most comfortable in. The dogs are all fixed, microchipped and current with the shots/vaccines. With tests on their liver, kidneys, deworming and flea medication. Even his toes were well trimmed! Once I picked Bruno, a 3 year old cutie, they even included an extra month of flea and deworming med. Along with a big bag of kibble to make sure he had all the things needed for a successful adoption. They urge you to make a vet appointment ASAP too with the provided documentation so your vet knows you've got a healthy and happy dog. Can't say enough good things about Homeward Bound! You MUST make an appointment to adopt. But once you do, if you're a family, bring the kids too so they can see how the dogs and kids get along. They won't just take "your word" on how your kids will be with the dogs. They have to see it. They want to make sure it's a positive match for everyone concerned. They probably won't have puppies (since all dogs are fixed) unless someone surrenders a litter. (Which is highly unlikely.) But if you're looking for an young adult dog, Homeward Bound would be a great place to start your search. Thanks to everyone there for providing me with "Dug" (I always wanted a Golden named after him from "Up") and his new furever home!!

They are so rude and dismissive. Wouldn't even let my family meet any dogs. You can get on the puppy waiting list which we did and were contacted several months later but by this time a puppy wasn't feasible. We were really hoping to be matched with an older dog who we could provide an amazing life to but were ridiculed because the dogs could jump up and knock my kid over I have 3 boys (twins that are 8) and (5) who roughhouse with each other all day every day and grew up with a large pitbull and our family simply wasn't a "match" for any adult dog. If you apply here don't mention any kids or you'll immediately be disqualified even if you're able to provide the dog with a loving home. I went with True Love Rescue and we adopted the most beautiful golden from Taiwan just days after submitting application and phone interview. That rescue actually wants to find loving homes for their dogs and are pleasant people to work with

They were also were responsive via email when I asked a few questions prior to our adoption appointment. The shelter is kept very clean - the dogs really have a great place to stay there while they wait to find their forever homes! The staff are also very knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions about animal behavior and introducing a puppy to an adult dog. I also called back a few days later with a question, and my call was returned by the wonderful woman who coordinated our adoption within a couple of hours. Overall, I highly recommend this shelter - they know what they are doing, their adoption fee is reasonable (we paid $300 for our first dog at a different shelter, CASF only asks for $200), they are clearly excellent at what they do, and they do it because they love to do it, and that shows. We are confident that if any issues arose with our new puppy we could reach out to them and they would be of assistance. Please adopt, don't shop, and consider adopting from CASF!

We felt very confident with her and decided to put a deposit right away. Several months later and our puppy was here. We had expressed to Joyce exactly what we were looking for and she was able to make it happen. She made my wife so happy she couldn't stop crying when we got there to meet our puppy. Joyce also offered us an extra service of training our puppy before we took it home. We highly recommend it. When we got our puppy 3 weeks later he was fully potty trained, crate trained, knows how to sit lay down and stay. This made our life so much easier. Now our puppy is all settled in at our home and he's an angel. We are so happy we picked Joyce to help us on this journey. If you are considering getting a doggy we definitely recommend her. When you place the deposit, you are locking yourself into a very rigid communication and payment structure that is not obvious until after you are already on the list. After being on the list for about one to two weeks, I realized this process was not a good fit for what I was looking for. Updates are limited to public Instagram posts at weeks two, four, six, and seven and a half, with no individual photos or meaningful information shared directly with families. I expected personal updates or temperament notes to help make an informed decision, but when I politely asked for more information, I was told this is simply not something they do. Another thing future buyers should be aware of is that full payment is required at week six, even though you do not actually select your puppy until take-home day. That means you may be committing the full purchase price based only on a few public posts, without the individualized information most people would reasonably expect when choosing a companion for the next fifteen years. Because this wasn't a fit for me, I removed myself from the list very early so I would not disrupt placements or prevent another family from getting a puppy. I explained this respectfully, clearly, and in good faith. At that point I hoped for a refund or at least a partial refund, especially since my early withdrawal had zero impact on her program. Instead, the response became very cold and I was told no refund would be given under any circumstance. It left me with the impression that the non refundable deposit is treated more as bonus revenue than a good faith placeholder. So if you decide to place a deposit, be fully aware of the update schedule, payment timing, and lack of individual communication ahead of time. Again, the dogs themselves may be wonderful. This review is only meant to help other buyers understand the process clearly before committing.
