From the outside I thought this giant warehouse was going to be choc-full of cute puppies, kittens,…read moregoldfish and tiny birds for sale, unfortunately as I entered the store on the weekend I found this store was only choc-full of customers buying food, toys, veterinary products and other accessories for their pets. As it turns out the store sells one of the biggest ranges of dry, wet, fresh and frozen pet foods which explains the large number of customers in here on the weekends looking for some treats to spoil their dogs, cats and other animals. Rather than being your typical friendly pet store where you feel you can have a chat with the owners or sales assistants about what food would be best for your pet, the store seemed more like a big k-mart wanting to get customers in and out the door as fast as possible. The fact that there was also a large cage in the middle of the store where there were some chicks gathered in one corner under a heat lamp, seemed like the store cared more about the dollars than for pets.

I guess that would simplify things for the owner, and I suppose for the customer too. If you already have a pet, that is. This way, they save space to jam pack the store with more supplies. But then again, this store isn't fully decked out. Some of the shelves, particularly the ones as soon as you walk in the door, look very empty. But, as you go down the back, theres stuff there for the basic cat, dog and fish. Worming tablets and tanks and collars and bowls and fish tank backgrounds. What actually excited me was the one point of difference for the store: A little rack of pet clothes on little baby clothes hangers. How exciting! I wish my dog was here, and that he didn't hate wearing clothes, because we'd have a ball. If you're into pet clothing, take a squiz. Their stock isn't extensive, but there is a full rack to chose from. But other than that, I'm not sure that the place will provide much more than any other pet store.

Tucked away in trendy Surry Hills, Aquadisiac have been doing this thing called aquariums and aquascaping ( for those not familiar with the lingo, that's those cool planted tanks that look amazing and like a landscape) since before it was cool. Follow the awesome rainforest mural up to find a selection of Super premium dog and cat foods, flea and tick treatments and accessories. Speak to the friendly owner operators Ryan and Scott, and they will be able to to help you out with just about anything pet related, from your sick fish to your interest in Scleropages leichardti. You know what it means, dont you fish nerd? Ryan is a keen topical and aquarium plant fan, and I managed to even pick up a vanilla orchid from him along with some cool fish that you dont often see in regular pet stores, like sparkling gourami and some crystal red shrimp. SO if you're in the market for some living decor, or you're just mad keen, these guys are my #1 recommendation.
