My dog was boarded this past weekend for four nights. When I arrived to pick him up, he looked an absolute mess and I assumed he was outside or something. When we got into the car, my husband and I realized that he was covered in dried urine. It looked like he was laying in a puddle of urine. I emailed the location and asked if they had additional information as to why my dog was in this state and I attached the pictures from below. They offered me a free day of daycare and full spa package. Although very generous, I declined their offer because there was NO WAY I would put my dog back in their care. I'm extremely saddened by this experience. I would like to mention that we have boarded our dog here many times prior. This could have been a fluke but it is definitely not a chance that I'm willing to take with my dog again. read more

I could give a 0 star I would - my dogs were physically harmed here and I considered filing a lawsuit. This place was really great a couple years ago, but new owners took over last year; since then I have read terrible reviews and none of the staff is the same. The cameras were not turned on until I called and asked them to be. After requesting to watch the video after daycare, I saw the dogs were caged immediately upon arrival for 2 hours. This NEVER happened in the past and the cameras were always on. On March 15 2023, I brought my golden retrievers to daycare and an employee used dog mace on all of the dogs for hours burning their eyes, nose and ears. My dogs thank god are okay - my oldest got an ear infection the following week and they both winced and shook their heads at the sight of a small spray can. I would NEVER leave my dogs here for daycare or boarding - I can't imagine what they would be subjected to during this time without cameras. To be clear, the lady who sprayed the dogs was fired on the spot and the manager said all dog parents were notified, but the owners refused to release a formal apology letter after multiple requests. I will never bring my dogs back to this location. The manager assured me that every owner was notified, but as you read this, please consider your beloved dogs before leaving them in the care of Dogtopia Northville. Watching this abuse broke my heart - especially for the poor white dog who continuously was sprayed over and over because he wouldn't run away and hide with the others. If cameras are not on when leaving your dogs, please call immediately so you can be sure they're not just caged or being abused. I had also visited with Dogtopia a few times but this last and FINAL encounter takes the cake. My dog is 16 years old and this has never been a secret. I explained this when I dropped him off and reiterated it when I returned to pick him up. I 1000% agree that things are not the same as they use to be. I have since, shared this with the owner. On July 29th, I left my dog, Sam, with Dogtopia. I was assured that he was doing well when I called to check on him. However, when I arrived to pick him up, I was told that he needed to be cleaned and asked to wait. Due to my schedule, I requested that he be wiped down instead. When I received Sam, I was shocked to find him smelling of urine and feces and trembling with fear. It was clear that he had been left in that state for quite some time. I immediately questioned the Dogtopia staff about the situation and their protocol for such cases. I was deeply upset and found myself in tears. As someone who entrusted my pet to their care, I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Dogtopia. Since returning home, Sam has not been the same, and I am concerned. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, some staff members apologized and shared my concerns about potential mistreatment. Sam and I will not be returning. I only hope that he can recover as he was prior to his visit. I have advised Dogtopia also. read more

While I didn't have an extremely negative experience like some of the 1-star reviews, I do empathize with their concerns. My dog often came back smelling unusual, which makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the facility. It's not terrible, but I believe there are better options available. read more

Love this place!! It's home away from home for my goldendoodle, Watson. Whenever we are in Northville visiting family, he can't wait to come and play with the other Doodles and doggos at Dogtopia. The staff are super friendly and professional, the place is extremely clean, and each room is brightly decorated with ramps and other structures. Most of all, I appreciate the transparency: all of the rooms are visible through camera feeds or windows, unlike other places that hide their daycare rooms in the back. 10 stars! 100 stars! read more

This place does not even deserve 1 star. My daughter boarded her dog for 5 days and the first day he was bitten by another dog. I understand things can happen, but nobody contacted her and according to a witness, he was put back in his crate with no lights and his ear continued to bleed for the entire time. She only discovered all this on the day of pickup. He should have seen the vet immediately and her poor dog is now traumatized from this experience and on multiple meds. DO NOT bring your dog here for anything. They are totally incompetent and obviously don't care about the animals. This place should be shut down. read more

Don't expect to be treated as though you matter here. The turnover rate for workers is insane; and for good reason. I worked here for 5 months and in that span, we've gone through 3 managers and many more people have either left or been terminated. 1) For one, my schedule has been changed around and I have even been removed from said schedule multiple times without communication or reason why. When asking why, I have always been ignored or told the usual response: "We're working on it". 2) You're expected to never call off unless YOU yourself are able to successfully have someone cover your shift. Out of the 5 months working here, I have never called off except ONE time, when I let them know several hours in advance that I would not be coming in. When I let management become aware I was not coming in, I was immediately put on probation so that I was not allowed to call off any longer for a period of time (one month). I was expected to "air out" my business to explain why I couldn't come in...even though they are not obligated to what goes on in my life. Come to find out the following week I'm taken off the schedule AGAIN and when I ask why I'm told "You need to be reliable."..really? For calling off ONE time? 3) The high stress of the room is from being forced to have 20-30 dogs out all at once. We as the canine coach are usually by ourselves in the room, with a large number of dogs..very rarely having the opportunity to have a second Canine Coach in the room with us for extra help. So when we decide to give overwhelmingly high-energy dogs a break, we are told to let them back out with the very dogs that are agitated by their presence which very often evolves into a scuffle. 4) I wouldn't trust having my dog here for their safety. It took management to allow this one dog to attack THREE separate times on different occasions to decide to dismiss him. We explained to the management that we should not feel afraid working with dogs, so ones that are aggressive SHOULD be banned from the facility. 5) The hygiene has improved (due to being threatened to have humane society called in by a former worker) but it still has concerning points. When I first worked there the hygiene was recall-worthy. There should be no good reason you walk into a room and it smells like straight urine and feces. I used to walk into a room and poop stains would be on the floor and urine left in crates, and the dogs would have no crate trays to lay on. However, just shortly ago, I walk into my room to find a dog whose entire stomach and paws are YELLOW from laying in it's own urine which is now dried up in his fur. I ask permission to give him a bath and I was told to not do it because he would get a bath the day he goes home (which was several days away). Another situation was quite similar, with feces being in the crate with the same result. With that being said, save yourself the headache and work/take your dog(s) elsewhere! read more

Took my dogs to this doggie daycare yesterday. The staff are very friendly. Loved the location. I tend to run errands on Saturday and this daycare is close to everything. First the place is SPOTLESS. The staff are knowledgeable and you can tell they care about your pets. I purchased a pass for my boys. I will definitely keep coming back. Oh. I really liked the area you can bathe your dogs. There is a charge but I think it will be handy after boarding. They can wash your dog or you can. read more

Dogtopia of Northville is such a great place! I use to take my golden retriever pup to a different daycare in the area, and I have no regrets after switching to Dogtopia of Northville. The management of this business is truly exceptional. Shelly and the whole team give attention and care to each and every dog there, know each dog by name, and give frequent status reports on their days at day care. I know I can trust them to take care of my baby and don't have to worry when she is in their care. In addition, my girl has so much fun playing and frequently they host theme 'parties' and provide the cutest photos; you can tell that the workers and dogs are all having fun. Tried to bring my two cavaliers here for day care and then grooming. The amount of vaccines you must give to even get in the door is astounding as well as ludicrous. Walked out. Will never return. The health of our dogs will paramount any experience you could get here. For those too ignorant to know about vaccines and life expectancy of dogs, look up the vaccine protocol of Dr Jean Dodds. If that isn't enough for this place, wonder what's lurking. They won't tell you this over the phone. They allow you to think you found a safe, local place, then they stick it to you when you walk in the door. It's a swindling type of business that pretends to care about safety of animals yet clearly are not Veterinary doctors that can tell you that the bordatella sheds for 2 weeks after administration-- YET they would have accepted the dogs that day if they had that and the flu vaccine. Despite your words below- again- I would never, ever send my dogs to this place. Charlatan. You in fact want to pressure people into getting unnecessary and not proven vaccinations which actually hurt the dog, causing seizures and sometimes worse. I worked here for 2 days and I was mortified of how they run that place. I found it weird that they didn't let the dogs outside at all, the dogs were all stuck in a small room all day. but i was like hey i get to work with dogs that's okay. I also found it weird the dogs couldn't have toys or anything to entertain themselves or for me to interact with them but if it's for everyone's safety i let that slide too. but what really got me and why i will never go back there is that if you know when dogs are sad and scared, it breaks your heart. let's say a dog was sitting there minding his/her business and was so scared and another dog came and the dog who was scared bit at the other dog. the dog who was scared would get put into a cage that specifically had to be off camera. a lot of dogs would sit by the door the whole time... it was so sad. so many dogs looked in distress. my second day i was told to keep putting dogs in crates and the dogs are forced to go in crates even when not being aggressive. there is so little space so dogs are not allowed to chase each other and whoever starts a chase game, gets put into a cage. sometimes there wouldn't be trays in the cages so the dogs would be forced to sit on the metal wired bars. also, the metal cages were constantly getting peed on, the wired bars on the cage were so gross.. i've heard many dogs have gotten kennel cough there. i will never forget what i witnessed there. please do not take your dog here i wish there was more i could do... read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. One thing that I struggle with is separation anxiety from my Bella, but whenever I take her to Dogtopia of Northville, I never have to worry. She boarded for 10 nights straight and I couldn't have asked for better care and love for her. Every employee that I have interacted with clearly shares a passion for these dogs and that love and comfort is what makes it so stress-free. Not to mention that they keep their facility clean and are constantly cleaning. They also do these very cute parties and photoshoots with all of the dogs that makes my heart melt!! I speak from 40 years of experience having a multitude of dogs over that time, when I say this is the BEST ENVIRONMENT ,whether daycare ,boarding or both.. They exceeded my husbands and I expectations.Friendly courteous, and transparent. Everyone loves all the animals big or small.. parties ,pictures, fundraisers for great causes....what a wonderful asset to our community..
