Last fall, we along with three other families moved our beloved family member out of this establishment and are so happy for it. When Arbor Terrace first opened, it was quite lovely. Over the last several years, all the original staff left, no consistency or quality in care and often down right neglect! We would often come to visit to see medication lying in clothes, under bed, and on shelves which means many many doses missed. More times than we can count, we would find all the sheet sets missing and would pull back comforter to see staff allowing our loved one to sleep on only a plastic mattress so as to avoid having to wash soiled sheets. Often our loved one was not offered the opportunity to use the facilities in eight hour shifts causing several dangerous U.T.I's. In the end, the owner found it easier to ask residents to leave instead of correct the problem. They only hire teens and call them aides, they hire 18yr olds who take a 7 week course on how to give meds, but do not know what they are for, and call them nurses or med techs. They do not Watch patient take and are not liable if mistakes made because they are not real nurses. They have 1 nurse on staff who is over 93 patients, not there on weekends, evenings and often at other facilities during the week. My husband and I go to many Assisted Living facilities as our ministry. None are as neglectful as this facility. We moved our loved one a year ago to a place that is not as fancy looking on the inside, but the quality of care is night and day. #ask turnaround off staff.#qualifications, #researchcomplaintsonfacilitywithombudsman,#patient to staff ratio , #%resource-staff. numberofstaffhangingtogetherincommonareaormursingstation,not in room assisting. The owner is in CA, and admits he is covered by law because GA has the easiest laws and more profitable with less chance of being sued by owning an Assisted Living than apartment complex. GA does have the worst laws protecting the elderly but being a huge advocate of the elderly, Arbor Terraces would be the last place I would put anyone. You are better off sending loved one out of state but truly there are good places locally, you just have to do your homework.

Heather, the Executive Director will always go above and beyond to make sure their residents and staff are well taken care and treated with the upmost respect and dignity. They've been taking for two months and my mother fell and broke her arm because nobody answered the call for two hours and she tried to get up and use the bathroom on her own and fell. After falling, they called me and told me that I'm gonna have to hire private caregivers. When I couldn't make that happen fast enough, they referred me to a place named honeybee. It's a lovely place, don't get me wrong and the caregivers are wonderful people, but why am I paying Gateway 4600 a month and then having to pay private caregivers to do what Gateway is supposed to be doing. The staff is very unprofessional. The director of nursing has a nonchalant uncaring laid-back attitude. Maybe it's because she has a title as an executive Director but she's an LPN who probably doesn't make much money. That's not my fault. Then they have other people who have titles, but nobody does their job. I've always learned, to whom much is given, much is required. Nobody is above helping others. If you work here, you were supposed to get your hands dirty and help these residents. These people are paying between 3800 to 6000 month approx so that they can get assistance with their activities of daily living. If a single caregiver that I pay for could come to this facility and help my mother with a bath, why can't Gateway help her. It's not like I'm paying for three caregivers. I'm paying for one person who does what needs to be done. Well they have more than one person working here, and therefore, they should be able to provide the assistance that my mother needs. Especially since she broke her arm here. It's in a sling and she is 85 and she does have Alzheimer's and she's becoming wheelchair bound a month and a half ago, she used a rollator to walk in here. You don't get what you pay for. They say that they help with doctors appointments and they say they do a lot of activities and go on trips. That's very exaggerated. The trips are far and few and the activities are bingo and Bible study. And even bingo is rare. The resident formed their own Bible study. And it's only about five people that attend, and my mother was one of them . They want a 30 day notice but I am not staying here for 30 days and paying for caregivers for another 30 days while still giving them a check for $4600. We're going to have to fight in court about that because it's all about the principle. This is not and it's neglectful to say the least. The fact that you're taking my money, but nobody wants to assist her and you want me to pay for an outside person to come in and take care of her is beyond belief. Astounded and shocked by how much nerve Has to call me and suggest that. And then to show you how poor their communication is, the executive Director Heather just called me today to act clueless about everything and say she didn't know any of this. She heard my mother was moving out tomorrow. I never told anyone she was moving tomorrow. It takes time for another facility to come in a valuate your loved one and to obtain the clinicals and letter of certification from the doctor in order for your loved one to be transferred to a facility. There's a process here. But this is why I don't like this place. The communication is poor. People downright lie. They're unprofessional. They have retaliatory practices. They're dishonest and lack integrity because they want to take your money without doing the job. They give the worst selection of food. They bragged about having a chef, but my mother has more sandwiches than she's ever eaten in her life. Hot food is also not that common to come. They say that people have acid reflux and dentures and some of them have no teeth at all and that's why they serve sandwiches. It's just a lot of excuses. They should have some kind of meeting or plan where they let me know that my mom will be safe from this point on. There was no such call. The only call I got was to tell me that I need to hire caregivers because it took four of them to get her off the floor and she's too heavy and they don't have that kind of manpower and therefore I need to hire private help And that's 100% factual. if we end up in court, which I hope we do, I will have the evidence to show the court that they made these calls and they told me these things. Now they're trying to backtrack on what they said. I'm over it. Gardens was the worst mistake ever. Total waste of $10,000 that I could've put to better use. Now I will give my money to a real assisted living facility that knows what the word assistance means

Physical Therapy was attentive and the centerpiece of facility. I would especially like to commend Antonio and Danielle for making hard effort pleasant. Typically understaffed in nursing, especially at night and weekends. But the staff that was there was almost universally excellent. I would especially commend Nurse Cassie for service above and beyond. They have social activities that appear to bolster morale and socialization. Although I did not participate in them for my own reasons. They had daily activities and they posted calendars in the rooms listing them. The meals? I do not eat. So I cannot really review them. Except to say they smelled delicious.

Often times, I read reviews on Yelp and it's apparent they are written by angry, former employees…read morewho were let go, most likely due to an inability to adequately perform the duties to which they are assigned. This often sheds a dark light on an otherwise wonderful business and I am compelled to write. This is the case with Great Oaks! My sweet mama has called GO home for about a year and a half now and we have been so pleased with her care! She is treated like family! She is well cared for, has help with bathing if she needs it, has wonderful meals, has an array of games and activities to choose from daily, and even has her room cleaned and her clothes washed! The entire community, from nursing staff to housekeeping and dining room staff, knows her name, speaks to her lovingly, and always makes sure she is cared for! This facility is clean, well cared for, always smells nice, and everyone always seems so happy! I never worry about Mama because I know she is being taken care of by people who love her like she is their own! Notice in the pictures I've included how happy she looks! This was a day when my sweet mama was enjoying musical guests who had come to entertain the residents for Christmas! That smile lights up a room! Great Oaks is definitely a "place you'll love to call home!" I can't recommend it enough!

while I wish I could sit here and say this is a great company to work for, it isn't..........Three…read moreothers girl that work there have reported great oaks to ADS for the abuse done by TEAM LEADERS in the memory loss unit. The abuse is happening to all residents, but especially residents that cannot talk. we have reported the abuse to HR which is Tiffany Ash and she is still allowing these people to be employed here, which is why I decided to stop returning to work. If you have a loved one with memory loss, or unable to speak that is in there care, I would remove them imediatly. Not only is the abuse real, but they have memorized the days and the times family members usually come in, and only THEN will they rush to change residents to make sure they appear to be taken care of, Third shift does not change through the night and allow the residents to sit in pee and poop all night long, which results in their bedding being wet UNTIL 7AM when first shift comes in. This post is the only way I can think of right now to inform anyone of what goes on here, I will also be posting to other platforms in hope that the residents family see this.

The staff is responsive, facilities are great and the enrichment activities have been a blessing;So much lovely live music, trips crafts etc to keep life interesting. It has also been a great help to hire independent contractors to add a bit of extra care where needed and keep mom as independent as possible. We love Delmar!
