We were fortunate to find a 2 bedroom and kitche area so we changed The second bedroom to a nice comfortable living room that has a door that leads out to a private patio. This is not cheap but after losing my father at the previous place these final years with mom I think will be comfortable here at Arbor Terrace. We came here after her brain surgery and she's had five strokes in the last two years and other injuries but no cancer and no dementia. I travel a lot but I'm with her at least three days a week and she's very demanding on the staff and me which is just her personality, but she's the love of my life and caring for her is my first priority I can't be prouder of the facilities here from the directors to the kitchen staff the medical staff all of the daily caregivers that works so hard to make everyone here as comfortable as they can be. I don't know how they do it. Everybody goes through various changes and illnesses in the later age but they manage it well. I thought I would write this during the pandemic as it's important to know that this location best that I can tell practices extreme safety, restricts entry from outsiders, are getting meals to everybody on time or three times a day every day, and dealing with family trying to see their loved ones who they haven't seen in over a month. There's many people to thank thank you all for the job you do the heroes that you are the care that you give to those we can't be with every day. Highly recommend!

This often sheds a dark light on an otherwise wonderful business and I am compelled to write. This is the case with Great Oaks! My sweet mama has called GO home for about a year and a half now and we have been so pleased with her care! She is treated like family! She is well cared for, has help with bathing if she needs it, has wonderful meals, has an array of games and activities to choose from daily, and even has her room cleaned and her clothes washed! The entire community, from nursing staff to housekeeping and dining room staff, knows her name, speaks to her lovingly, and always makes sure she is cared for! This facility is clean, well cared for, always smells nice, and everyone always seems so happy! I never worry about Mama because I know she is being taken care of by people who love her like she is their own! Notice in the pictures I've included how happy she looks! This was a day when my sweet mama was enjoying musical guests who had come to entertain the residents for Christmas! That smile lights up a room! Great Oaks is definitely a "place you'll love to call home!" I can't recommend it enough!

The abuse is happening to all residents, but especially residents that cannot talk. we have reported the abuse to HR which is Tiffany Ash and she is still allowing these people to be employed here, which is why I decided to stop returning to work. If you have a loved one with memory loss, or unable to speak that is in there care, I would remove them imediatly. Not only is the abuse real, but they have memorized the days and the times family members usually come in, and only THEN will they rush to change residents to make sure they appear to be taken care of, Third shift does not change through the night and allow the residents to sit in pee and poop all night long, which results in their bedding being wet UNTIL 7AM when first shift comes in. This post is the only way I can think of right now to inform anyone of what goes on here, I will also be posting to other platforms in hope that the residents family see this.

Last fall, we along with three other families moved our beloved family member out of this establishment and are so happy for it. When Arbor Terrace first opened, it was quite lovely. Over the last several years, all the original staff left, no consistency or quality in care and often down right neglect! We would often come to visit to see medication lying in clothes, under bed, and on shelves which means many many doses missed. More times than we can count, we would find all the sheet sets missing and would pull back comforter to see staff allowing our loved one to sleep on only a plastic mattress so as to avoid having to wash soiled sheets. Often our loved one was not offered the opportunity to use the facilities in eight hour shifts causing several dangerous U.T.I's. In the end, the owner found it easier to ask residents to leave instead of correct the problem. They only hire teens and call them aides, they hire 18yr olds who take a 7 week course on how to give meds, but do not know what they are for, and call them nurses or med techs. They do not Watch patient take and are not liable if mistakes made because they are not real nurses. They have 1 nurse on staff who is over 93 patients, not there on weekends, evenings and often at other facilities during the week. My husband and I go to many Assisted Living facilities as our ministry. None are as neglectful as this facility. We moved our loved one a year ago to a place that is not as fancy looking on the inside, but the quality of care is night and day. #ask turnaround off staff.#qualifications, #researchcomplaintsonfacilitywithombudsman,#patient to staff ratio , #%resource-staff. numberofstaffhangingtogetherincommonareaormursingstation,not in room assisting. The owner is in CA, and admits he is covered by law because GA has the easiest laws and more profitable with less chance of being sued by owning an Assisted Living than apartment complex. GA does have the worst laws protecting the elderly but being a huge advocate of the elderly, Arbor Terraces would be the last place I would put anyone. You are better off sending loved one out of state but truly there are good places locally, you just have to do your homework.

When you first…read moreenter the facility you are met with a friendly receptionist, hardwood floors with decorations straight out of a magazine and a fancy coffee maker. I was so relieved! But when you pass the locked double doors that separate the public from the patients I realized the owners were just putting lipstick on a pig. It looks old, horrible, depressing and it smells like urine! When I was able to go back to my fathers room I noticed that he didn't have a pillow or blanket. His roommate said that they had to bring one from home. Well off to the store I go to get what should be supplied by the nursing home. I felt so bad leaving him there for the night! I went home and described to my husband how bad the place seemed and cried. My dad ended up only staying one night. He said the bed was so lumpy his back was killing him in the morning. All night long patients in other rooms were moaning. He didn't get any rest at all. It was my dad's decision to go to the rehab facility. He didn't want to be a burden (his words) but when he told me he didn't think he could stay there I felt like a weight had been lifted off my chest! I immediately went to tell his nurse that we weren't staying (she didn't seem surprised) and I had his things packed up and out the door. The social worker was running after me to get his discharge paper signed. I probably should have waited for her to come to the room or went to her office but I just wanted us out of that place! I felt so much better knowing he'd be at my house recovering and getting home health and rehab. If you are thinking of putting a loved one in this rehab center - don't. Just don't. It smells. It's old. Patients seem to be miserable. You have to supply your own pillows and blankets. I know sometime you don't have a choice but to accept the only opening that is available but....

She passed away last month and upon reflection of our time there, I have to say this community is wonderful and I love and respect the people who run this facility. We moved my mom from another assisted living place that we were not fond of. Lindsey (activities director) is phenomenal! She plans interesting activities inside the complex as well as taking residents out into the community as well. My mom has gone to get manicures and pedicures, lunches, plays, local stores, and just going on "joy rides" to see Christmas lights. My mom LOVED Lindsey. As time went on and my mom didn't want to take her medicine, Lindsey would come to the rescue and always got my mom to take it if I wasn't around. She is super creative in facilitating different activities within the complex too. Heather, the nurse has been great as well. As my mom began to deteriorate, Heather was always there to help me with any questions and to give me the mental support that I needed. She guided me and help me to make all the arrangements for mom to come home to Prema from the hospital at the end. (And my mom did want to go home from the hospital.) She was always available to me and never was short or impatient with me. Heather the director is also a sweet and loving lady. She brings her two dogs to work and my mom and I loved seeing them. She always would see me if I had any questions from billing to personnel. As she has said to me once, "I got you." and she always did. Even Shawn who works at the front desk (after being promoted) would go check on my mom. As well as Shawn and Phoebe (the dynamic duo) who took such good care to my mom on a daily and weekly basis. My mom was able to do her physical and occupational therapy on site as well. My mom was a "faller" and the Prema team did so many wonderful things to keep her on her feet in lieu of a wheelchair. She stayed on her feet almost to the end. Keon, Ebony and Oliver, are amazing. The other residents are also very friendly and open. Mom developed a very special friendship with another lady and they would sit and talk or sometimes just sit and watch people come in and out for hours or until the next activity! :) Thank you Prema at Ashton Hill for being such an important and wonderful part of my mom's life as well as my own. My husband and I always say that when our time comes we will be checking into Prema too!
