Most of us try to save money however we can but certain things like your health I want to solve my issue asap even if I have to pay a bit more and even if my insurance doesn't cover it and it comes out of my pocket. This person really helped me to fix the pain on my lower back when i had hurt it doing some exercise and I slowly got better and I was in a lot of pain.....I was in a lot of pain every time i got up from sitting. After a few visits, I was all better and keep up with my stretching exercise to keep my back good. The whole cost almost equal a nice little trip but being in pain wouldn't help me with work or anything so I had to get it fixed and this Massager really takes the time to work out the pain and doesn't rush or do a poor job. I used to go see Mr. Suzuki regularly when I lived in New York. I'm an aficionado of bodywork and very picky about the bodywork I get. Mr. Suzuki is among the best I've ever experienced. He is an absolute master. He realigns your whole body and spine with mallets- like doing bodywork on a bent-up car! It sounds kind of crazy, but it makes sense once you experience it- why not use every tool available? The mallet part is a bit intense, but it's not too painful- and you come out of it feeling totally realigned and like a new person. This is a very unique form of bodywork you won't find anywhere else, it's a style he developed. He's not cheap- but he knows what he's doing, and you get what you pay for. I woke up three weeks ago and my neck was completely frozen - this is annoying for anyone, but really REALLY annoying if you play violin. I play violin, and had a concert coming up. So I visited Mr. Suzuki and could move my neck after one session! I came back for a second session around a week later because things were still kind of tender, and he worked on my neck more and I feel even better. He recommended exercises and treatments I can do on my own that will help me maintain the results, and discussed issues of my posture that contributed to this issue. The sessions are intense! I had a severe case of muscle spasms running from a hip joint down to ankle and up to the back. Often walking on the street I felt like crying for the pain, or actually had to take a cab back home. I went to massage therapies, but having a strong massage only made me feel slightly better for a week or two. I explained to the massage therapists that I had a sensation as if the hip joint were misaligned, but they assured me that it was a common muscle knot around the hip joint. It continued for 6 months until I couldn't bear the discomfort and pain any more. I have a friend who suffered from similar condition in the past. I remembered her mentioning that she became well with chiropractic treatment. My own experiences with chiropractors were either unsatisfactory or unpleasant. Therefore I decided to try Doin Seitai Center, knowing that Seitai was a radical version of chiropractics. The skilled practitioner Mr. Suzuki spoke of my condition as he examined my joints and posture, especially the way I sit with pelvic bone twisted to a side. In the past I went to an Alexander Technique practitioner, and the posture-pain relationship came back to my mind. He first had one of his assistants work on the back muscles. They were trained by him and had strong hands for medical quality Shiatsu massage. Mr. Suzuki agreed that my hip joint was not in the right place, so he adjusted it by twisting my joints as well as using the special tools. It was quick, but very painful. But after the pain by impact subsided, I felt the spasms were reduced to a mere discomfort. That was the first treatment. The hip muscle spasms came back after a few days, but I already had the second appointment a week later by Mr. Suzuki's recommendation, so it was expected. Similar treatment was done. This time around, I paid more attention to what he said and how he shifted my hips. I also had a bad neck pain, so I made another appointment to fix the problem. It was scary to have my neck manhandled, but at this point I decided to trust his expertise. I knew that trying to resist the force might cause injury, so I tried to relax my neck as he straightened it. It was, simply put, very painful. However, since then I don't have to crack my neck. So that was it. I am living a healthy, painless life now after 3 visits to Doin Seitai Center. To be honest, however, it was a combination of the treatments and my own efforts. As I mentioned, I paid attention to what Mr. Suzuki told me about my posture, and every time I started feeling slightest of pain or discomfort, I straightened my body while feeling hip bones with my hands. Once I found a position that reduced pain and discomfort, I remembered the posture, which was, without surprise, straight and symmetric. It took 4 weeks after the last treatment for me to go to bed without needing ibuprofen and woke up without any discomfort. Although I don't have the muscle spasms or back pain any more, I know that I am only in remission. I have to continue to be careful with my posture even in my sleep. For those of you who cannot tolerate painful procedures and have no reason to suspect misalignment of joints, I recommend Alexander Technique. It will teach you how to adjust your posture to stop pain, as I learned (to avoid painful procedure) from Mr. Suzuki. read more

I have been going here for over a year. Although he has been able to relieve my pain, today was truly disappointing during my visit. The cost for my visits has been $200. He evaluated me before working on me, and conducted the massage, because his therapist has not been there the past few times I have been there. Anyway, once he was complete he tells me the cost is $320. I ask why, and he tells me that the cost went up to $260, and since he had to work on me for an hour due his therapist not being there, it was strenuous activity. So I should have to pay extra????? I'm sorry, 1) you have to tell your reoccurring clients that the cost has gone up and 2) inform them that if they are going to get the service, that they will have to pay extra since your therapist is out. Worth a try. I had approximately six sessions with Nori this year. He was referred to me by a good friend who spoke of him highly. Ive been dealing with chronic neck pain and am now in the middle of a severe flare over a year. Nori occupies an apartment style unit in a midtown building. You feel like you are meeting a real life Mr. Miagi. His face has a kindness and youthfulness I often see in healers. His bodywork is different than any other I've experienced. He basically repositions your bones, by whatever method. That often involves his feet pressed against your body, a mallet type instrument (no kidding) he hammers at you ( On one occasion the mallet knocked me in the head..he was rather nonplussed when i yelped out loud). This is not a relaxing massage, although a few sessions are preceded with some shiatsu given by his assistant. Each session is marked by him saying '1, 2, 3 followed by a maneuver of some sort' Following the session, I would always feel super light on my feet , but the feeling was short lasting. After a good number of sessions, I decided I had no lasting benefit and stopped going. When it comes to musculoskeletal problems, I don't think there is one practitioner that can cure everyone. For my experience with Mr Suzuki one star is one too many, but they don't have an option for zero stars. Mr Suzuki diagnosed me incorrectly, strongly assuring me his treatment would fix the pain in my lower back, legs and abdomen. He then proceeded to bang my pelvis and back using a wood block and a mallet with intense ferocity, charging me close to $1000 for the trouble. My condition worsened after this treatment. This review is long overdue. My knee had been killing me off and on for over a year and a half. It had even affected my walking at times. My wife recommended Mr. Suzuki to me, and I have to say he worked miracles. He suggested to me that my body might be out of alignment and is putting pressure on my knee. Life changing. Anyone who lives with hip pain or thinks they have 1 leg longer than the other I HIGHLY recommend you see Nori Suzuki. I have spent the majority of my life either having knee or hip pains. A decade ago (in my early 20s) I was told by 2 different specialists that I needed a hip replacement right away. I have always thought one leg was a little longer than the other leading to an imbalance that eventually damaged my hips and lead to back pain as well. I put off any surgery because I felt I could get by with the pain. I'd say about 20% of the time the hip pain was severe, 70% of the time there was a little big of nagging pain, and about 10% of the time I was pain free. The first time I visited Nori he sat me down on his bench to take a look at me and within 2 minutes he said you do not have one leg longer than the other but your pelvis is tilted. To be honest I didn't believe it at first but when you are desperate and have nothing to lose we all know you'll try anything. After a 1.5ish hour session with Nori he literally changed my life. For the first time since I can remember (going back at least 25 years) my leg length felt balanced. When I tested each leg by swinging it back and forth my feet both barely hit the ground evenly for the first time in my entire life. I went from having hip pain every single day of my life to not feeling ANY hip pain for 5-6 months straight. For the first time I could walk all day long and not have any issues. I can not recommend him enough to people who have had similar issues that I had. Nori thought I should come back a couple more times about 6 weeks later to finish "correcting it" so I did and each time helped a little more but to be honest after 1 visit he did 90% of it. To this day, I try to go back at least every 6 months (and I don't even live in NY anymore) since I do already have damaged hips that lead to lower back pain and it really helps my body in general. The practitioner is incredibly knowledgeable, I had all sorts of back pain, lower back pain, pain across my shoulder blades, and after my first session I remember standing up and feeling my feet perfectly even on the floor, a sensation I hadn't had since I can remember. The deep feeling of alignment throughout my pelvis and spine relieved all my muscle tension and I felt even a little taller. Simply life changing. I've tried everything for my chronic hip and back issues over the last 15 years. Chiro, Cranial Sacral, Rolfing, Deep Tissue, etc... Nothing worked. After just two sessions, my hips and back felt as good as they did in college. I can work out again...I don't have to roll out of bed wondering if I'm going to have a "bad day"... If you have arthritic knees like I do, do not bother. It is a lot of money for a nice massage and a "treatment" that does not last. Nori adjusted my hips and knee on the first session which gave me some relief but as soon as I went back to one day of exercising, which he said I could after two days from being there, it got worst than it was before. He said I would need two sessions to take care of my problem but on the second appointment he forgot what he had done, repeated everything he said and did the first time, told me I "need to walk" which I replied I do 3 miles a day, told me not to exercise but said I need to "build muscles" to support my hips but when asked how, without exercising, he said he did not know!!! When I read about Doin Seitai Center and Mr Suzuki I was both skeptical and a little scared. However, people wrote of walking out after one session feeling pain relief they had never experienced before. As someone who has suffered from chronic lower back and upper back/neck pain, I figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a try. Thankfully, having read all of the other reviews on YELP, I was prepared for what I was going to experience and was expecting it to be painful at points but worth it in the end. Like many people who have written reviews, my problems are also the result of a misaligned and twisted pelvis. After describing to me that the misalignment in my pelvis has caused my spine to form an S-curve, Mr Suzuki first worked using shiatsu type massage to soften the surrounding muscles, He was then able to manipulate the pelvis back into proper position. YES, he DID use tools, one of which is a big mallet BUT, it felt mildly uncomfortable at its worst. It did NOT hurt badly at all despite what other people have written on here. Plus, Mr Suzuki explained in advance exactly what he was going to do and checked in with me often to make sure i was ok. When he finished the realignment and i stood up, I truly felt taller, lighter and pain free. YES, I was shocked and amazed. Mr Suzuki still has work to do on me as I still have other issues (the neck is next), but he is confident my issues can be corrected in 3 visits. I am really looking forward to the next appointment and seeing whether he can continue to help me. If you are suffering from pain, I urge you to give this a try, It is pretty amazing. read more

I went to see Master Suzuki after I was diagnosed with a herniated L4-L5 disc and had significant numbness around my left shin. One neurosurgeon had already recommended surgery and given that the numbness hadn't subsided for close to 4 weeks, I thought I had no choice. Master Suzuki did a thorough evaluation on my first visit. He determined exactly where my spinal alignment issues were and explained his conclusions very clearly to me. After that his assistant, Tomoko, did a fantastic Shiatsu style massage on me to get my muscles ready for Master Suzuki's techniques. Master Suzuki worked very hard on me using methods I had never seen before. When I walked out of his office, I already felt like my blood circulation was a thousand times better- I literally felt like blood was gushing through me, especially in my legs. It felt great! The first thing the next morning, I checked my left shin, as I had done every morning for the last few weeks. Amazingly, the numbness was much better! Noticeably better. I was supposed to see Master Suzuki in one week. My numbness was completely gone even before I saw him the second time.
