When I first moved to Rickmansworth my now husband took me here for dinner. Well he tried to, but…read moreit was fully booked. He then booked for my birthday and we have been for most family occasions and just for a treat ever since. Maurizio's has amazing welcoming staff, who know everything about the menu, where all the ingredients come from and how it's cooked. The specials are always worth a look. The food is just delicious and perfectly cooked. I love Maurizio's so much I have their number saved in my phone. One tip, always book whatever day of the week, it's full all of the time.

Although it wasn't very full when we arrived, more people did come in from time to time, although it never got really busy. Having said this, I did wonder why the service was incredibly slow. We had to chase up everything we ordered at least once, and the servers seemed to sail past the tables without looking around to see if the punters wanted anything. That was annoying. We started with the garlic bread, and shared the cheese and the tomato versions. Both were good. Beware; the portions are huge! Next I had the seabass special which was disappointingly dry, and was accompanied by limp and washed out green beans and carrots. i had asked for a side of broccoli but they were unable to provide this. The requested fresh lemon helped a bit, but it wasn't a great dish. Others had pizza and pasta and were happy with their choices.French fries were good and fresh. Solid 3 stars. They did try, but somehow it didn't quite work out.

The best value & quality Italian lunchtime restaurant in Rickmansworth…read more Food quality is excellent and I dare anyone to eat more than one course from the all you can eat £5.99 lunchtime menu. If you have a pram or wheel chair can be awkward to get in, due to the age of the building. Though the staff are helpful to get you seated correctly.

Service was excellent. One of our party is disabled and I was very impressed with all the help/attention they provided. We told them this upon booking and they did everything they could to accommodate us. The vibe is cute and homely in a minimalistic way. All raw, exposed beams, wonky ceilings and white washed walls. Its very small downstairs (upstairs is meant to be much much bigger) but I loved it and didn't find that they'd crammed loadsa tables in. The food was fantastic, I want to say faultless, but poor other half's chicken had to be sent back as under cooked but I do believe it was a genuine mistake and it was rectified promptly and the second one was fab. My sea bass was delish. As was my dessert. This restaurant is excellent value...I'm talking £25 ish per head for 3 courses and a beer or two each. Will be back....soon.

Oh well!! Well since I waiting for the rest of my work colleagues to come, I thought I'll ask Jesus what Pizza should I try, so as I looked at the menu ...trust him to pick at the most priceiest item on the menu...Sallcica at £12:95! Mann was that pizza devine! (No pun intended)! It was presented on a chopping board with the right equipment to slice it. It's a meaty, spicy pizza with Tomato and mozzarella base topped with fiery Calabrian n'duja sausage meat, chargrilled peppers, pancetta, caramelised onions and Fontal cheese. You can add chillies if you want to, but this was more than enough for me. Everyone was looking at my pizza with lust! Haha!! We dId pick the best compared to their pasta dishes. I also started a trend with ordering a Sicilian raspberry lemonade which was refreshing and not to sweet. The customers service in this restaurant, was friendly and attentive. The look of the restaurant is impeccable, I like the layout and we sat at a gray round table with a round lamp above that seated me an my colleagues well, which was good because we got to know each other better. I look forward to my return.

The food here is always decent and the menu has a fair amount of choice. The Al Forno dishes are great from Ask, with the Penne al Polla della Casa being my favourite. Appetisers and Deserts lack imagination and inspiration. I have had patchy service here, but on the whole it is OK. Decor is well handled but the atmosphere is a love it or hate it affair. Intimate and soothing it isn't. Overall, I would rather go to the superior Prezzo, only a few doors along from here.
