I had to spend my own money on a bag. Because, who wants to juggle cans of tuna (plus the chips and cat food I picked up) without a bag. And Aldi doesn't provide bags. Those cheap bastards. I have a computer for a brain, so when the total seemed a tad high, it bothered me, but, I had already left the store. Once I got home I searched through my paid-for-bag for my receipt. Sure enough, they charged me for more tuna than I purchased. I called the 800 number on the receipt, and waited... and waited. When I finally got a human and not a voice recording during my wait, I told her about the overcharge. She seemed apologetic but then started asking me for a lot of personal information plus every bit of information from the receipt, after informing me I would need to return to the store and talk to the manager in order to get my refund anyway. When I asked why I had to give her all of my information, she informed me that "I reached out to Aldi" as if they now have every right to do a background check on me! WTF, I just wanted justice on being charged for something I didn't buy!! After about the 15th question, I gave up and said I would just take the can of tuna that I was charged for next time I was in the store. Then I said goodbye and hung up. Carpentersville police, don't worry, it will be a cold day in hell before I go into Aldi again. So you won't get a call from a manager of Aldi saying some crazy dude was stealing a can of tuna. They do now accept credit cards, but their prices have gone up. And I still think it's ridiculous to have to pay for a bag. Also one time I got a bad sack of carrots, and as proven by this post, it's not worth trying to get your money refunded. They are an embarrassment to the community.

I stumbled upon it thanks to some fantastic Yelp reviews, and it definitely piqued my curiosity…read more Turns out, it's quite the unique setup. Imagine walking into a supermarket, but then you discover it's also home to a charming bakery, a refreshing Michoacana, and, most importantly, a bustling taco stand tucked away in a corner. It's like a little culinary adventure all under one roof. When I first got to the taco stand, I wasn't entirely sure of the drill. There were a few bench tables, and I wondered if it was table service or if I should order at the small, somewhat unassuming entrance. A younger fellow was taking orders there, and while he efficiently guided me on what to do,order there, pick up when your name's called by the guisado stand, I have to say, his demeanor wasn't the warmest. A friendlier face at the counter would definitely make the initial interaction a bit more welcoming, especially for first timers like me. The main supermarket area looked sparkling clean, but the taco corner itself felt a bit more lived in, shall we say. It was quite cozy, almost a bit cramped, and the tables and floor could've used a little extra attention. That small, almost closet like door where you order definitely adds to its rustic charm, but it also made me pause for a second before committing to my meal. It was interesting to see a good number of local workers stopping by for their lunch always a good sign of authentic food. On a super positive note, the folks cooking up the food were an absolute delight. They were genuinely friendly and incredibly helpful, which really brightened the whole experience. Okay, onto the good stuff the food. I started with a steak burrito, and let me tell you, it was generously portioned and packed with flavor. It was absolutely delicious, though I'll admit, it was quite the gloriously messy and delightfully greasy affair to eat. Definitely needed a few extra napkins. Then came the tacos. I tried a variety steak, lomo, al pastor, cecina, and chorizo. Most of them were seriously tasty. The only one that didn't quite hit the mark for me was the chorizo the flavor just didn't quite work. But here's a little secret I discovered the cecina and lomo meats are incredibly flavorful on their own. If you try them straight up, maybe with a little cilantro, onion, and salsa on the side wow, they are truly amazing. In the taco, they can sometimes feel a tad dry, but separating them out transforms them into something spectacular. The prices were quite reasonable, which is always a bonus. Overall, I'd definitely go back for more tacos especially now that I've figured out the best way to enjoy those cecina and lomo. I think next time I'll opt for takeout, and hopefully, the friendly energy of the cooks might rub off on the order taker at the front. It has a lot of potential and some truly delicious offerings.

Treats Paying Customers Like Criminals - Algonquin IL store 699…read moreI am single, visit once a week , but it can vary. I have been shopping here for as many years as this store has been open. WTF with the rent-a-cop following me around every time I visit for the last few months? Yes, I wear a heavy coat in winter. WTH am I thinking wearing a heavy coat when it's 30 degrees outside? Yes, sometimes I look at things on the produce shelf for an extended time; 1- things aren't always in the same place, 2- I like to review the options like any normal shopper, 3- sometimes I read a label and put the item back, 4- check my eggs for cracks... How the hell is that suspicious behavior? I shop at many grocery stores, but this is the only one where I am basically treated like a criminal. Whole Foods doesn't treat me this way, The Fresh Market doesn't treat me this way, Walmart doesn't treat me this way, or any other grocery store for that matter. I am sorry that you have a theft problem, but I am not it. Driving away good customers isn't going to help your bottom line. Get your act together. It's insulting and I deserve an apology. I would use Instacart to avoid your unwelcoming store , but you are too cheap to participate. When shopping here , Expect to be Treated as a Potential Thief.

However, during my most recent visit on May 30, 2026, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service provided by the manager on duty, Bledi. I had an issue that needed to be addressed and Bledi handled it with sensitivity, efficiency, and speed. It was a level of customer service that I haven't experienced since the 1970s, especially in today's era where big box stores often lack in this aspect. Bledi's service restored my faith in retail businesses that prioritize customer satisfaction. I would like to express my gratitude to Bledi for providing me with the most pleasant shopping experience I've had in over 20 years. I hope that your leadership and team recognize your outstanding performance. Other big box stores would benefit greatly from emulating your example of delivering genuine and exceptional service. Thank you Bledi Best Regards, Sharon
