Not organic, but supposedly no antibiotics and hormones for $10.99, compared to their regular $6.99 chickens

I live in between this Jewel and the one on Randall road and I prefer this Jewel. I like the setup of the aisles here and I really like how organized their organic aisle is. They also stock some organic yogurts and refrigerator items that I don't normally see at other grocery stores. Just be careful, as sometimes their sale signs can be misleading. I've purchased things multiple times that were on a stack out or end cap and they rang up a different price. An example one time was purchasing a case of ice mountain water that was a bonus pack (I think 32 or 35) bottles and there was a huge sign that said Ice Mountain waters for $3.99, but the fine print at the bottom said for a 24 pack. Yet, the display ONLY had the bonus pack cases. Why was there a sign on that display of waters if it didn't apply to them?? It rung up $7.99. They ended up giving it me for $3.99 and said that it was their fault for mislabeling. Definitely keep an eye out for stuff like that.

Our refrigerator needs to refill some food and drinks. So my husband and I decided to go to this grocery shop. My husband gets a cart and he's pushing it while I'm choosing and putting what we choose in a cart. It's easy to find what we are looking for since they have every selection in their products. They are organized as well as the inventory was full. When it gots empty or sold they will fill it immediately. We went to the selection of chocolates since our kids love it. We bought hershey, dairymilk, kisses and toblerone. Then we went to the selection of soda and juices. After that we bought some fruits and veggies that needed to be refridge. Luckily it's fresh and good to eat. We spend just 1 hour buying all we need and thanks to this store we bought and found everything we need. So we highly recommend this grocery store.

This store needs and overhaul barley! Prices are crazy. Be sure to check expiration dates as the store does not.

Imagine walking into a supermarket, but then you discover it's also home to a charming bakery, a refreshing Michoacana, and, most importantly, a bustling taco stand tucked away in a corner. It's like a little culinary adventure all under one roof. When I first got to the taco stand, I wasn't entirely sure of the drill. There were a few bench tables, and I wondered if it was table service or if I should order at the small, somewhat unassuming entrance. A younger fellow was taking orders there, and while he efficiently guided me on what to do,order there, pick up when your name's called by the guisado stand, I have to say, his demeanor wasn't the warmest. A friendlier face at the counter would definitely make the initial interaction a bit more welcoming, especially for first timers like me. The main supermarket area looked sparkling clean, but the taco corner itself felt a bit more lived in, shall we say. It was quite cozy, almost a bit cramped, and the tables and floor could've used a little extra attention. That small, almost closet like door where you order definitely adds to its rustic charm, but it also made me pause for a second before committing to my meal. It was interesting to see a good number of local workers stopping by for their lunch always a good sign of authentic food. On a super positive note, the folks cooking up the food were an absolute delight. They were genuinely friendly and incredibly helpful, which really brightened the whole experience. Okay, onto the good stuff the food. I started with a steak burrito, and let me tell you, it was generously portioned and packed with flavor. It was absolutely delicious, though I'll admit, it was quite the gloriously messy and delightfully greasy affair to eat. Definitely needed a few extra napkins. Then came the tacos. I tried a variety steak, lomo, al pastor, cecina, and chorizo. Most of them were seriously tasty. The only one that didn't quite hit the mark for me was the chorizo the flavor just didn't quite work. But here's a little secret I discovered the cecina and lomo meats are incredibly flavorful on their own. If you try them straight up, maybe with a little cilantro, onion, and salsa on the side wow, they are truly amazing. In the taco, they can sometimes feel a tad dry, but separating them out transforms them into something spectacular. The prices were quite reasonable, which is always a bonus. Overall, I'd definitely go back for more tacos especially now that I've figured out the best way to enjoy those cecina and lomo. I think next time I'll opt for takeout, and hopefully, the friendly energy of the cooks might rub off on the order taker at the front. It has a lot of potential and some truly delicious offerings.

It has some pretty unique things for around Carpentersville, if you just go to other stores. Village Fresh Market sure is fresh, especially for the fruits and vegetables. Has lots of other groceries too like cereal, but the prices aren't as good on these items. The produce is where you'll get your money's worth, so stick there. Apparently it used to be another grocery store, because it's big. It's set up like a regular grocery store. There's aisles, and there's a big section on the side for fruits and vegetables. It's bright and clean. There's mostly Mexicans who are shopping in here, but they wouldn't be here if it wasn't any good. Also at the front there's a stand to get juices and fruits. It's $4 for a juice. The Greens Juice is the best of these. It's green of course. This is made with apples, celery, cucumbers, ginger, lemon, and spinach. It's $4 for a bowl of fruit. The Fruta Grande is a bowl filled with the fruit if your choice, and it's topped with chili salt, which gives it a spice. Good place to get something fresh. It's a store but be sure to get some juices and fruit bowls on your way in or out. There's also some other vendors.

Treats Paying Customers Like Criminals - Algonquin IL store 699…read moreI am single, visit once a week , but it can vary. I have been shopping here for as many years as this store has been open. WTF with the rent-a-cop following me around every time I visit for the last few months? Yes, I wear a heavy coat in winter. WTH am I thinking wearing a heavy coat when it's 30 degrees outside? Yes, sometimes I look at things on the produce shelf for an extended time; 1- things aren't always in the same place, 2- I like to review the options like any normal shopper, 3- sometimes I read a label and put the item back, 4- check my eggs for cracks... How the hell is that suspicious behavior? I shop at many grocery stores, but this is the only one where I am basically treated like a criminal. Whole Foods doesn't treat me this way, The Fresh Market doesn't treat me this way, Walmart doesn't treat me this way, or any other grocery store for that matter. I am sorry that you have a theft problem, but I am not it. Driving away good customers isn't going to help your bottom line. Get your act together. It's insulting and I deserve an apology. I would use Instacart to avoid your unwelcoming store , but you are too cheap to participate. When shopping here , Expect to be Treated as a Potential Thief.
