I went today and everything looked terrible... not watered and half dead. Still asking $50 for an outdoor pot of plants when they are crispy is just wrong. Also, put the boxes for plants outside so we can carry them more easily. I miss the low carb and healthy foods they used to offer. I went there for diabetic friendly snacks, and now I can't find them any more. One day I went in and had a large order. The owner was by the cashier at the beginning of the process, but walked away. The cashier was lovely and asked if I wanted a bag. I said yes because I had forgotten mine. She filled the one bag and then stacked the rest on the counter. She asked if I wanted a receipt and I said, " no, but I'd love another bag." She made a face and said, we are only supposed to use one. I told her that I would happily pay the bag fee for another, but she'd already closed the transaction. I told her it was fine and I'd figure it out. She looked around to make sure no one was watching and gave me another bag. If I'm getting enough stuff to fill more than one bag, I should be able to get more than one bag. I'm paying for it. Without even looking inside, they dumped them into a larger shopping bin, breaking and damaging some of the contents inside the box. This happens frequently when I have donated things. If I wanted to break and trash my items, I would throw them directly into the garbage myself. I donate to Goodwill in order to allow other people to add value to their lives from my unused items. If my donations are being treated like garbage, it detracts from value that Goodwill customers could be receiving from them. When you are doing the right thing and donating to a nonprofit and your efforts are clearly not appreciated, it is very disheartening. I will no longer be donating to this Goodwill and am very disappointed.

Mabton's gangsta firework show can hold its own to any big city fireworks!). There was a "big" grocery store just off the small highway, but I decided to drive a block or two into "downtown" Mabton, and happened upon Su Mercadito. This grocery is like taking a trip to Mexico. Situated in a fairly old building on "Main Street Mabton", this is a tiny store, but it has un corazón grande. In this tiny space, there is so much packed in. Sensory overload is definitely on the menu when you walk around. HEARING: There was Mexican music blaring on the speakers (Love it). SIGHT: There are so many items and colors for one to look at here. I could have spent an hour here in this tiny shop, but I didn't want to be one of "those" gringos! SMELL: There was a small carniceria (meat shop) inside here along with a tub of oysters near the entrance, and they smelled fresh. TOUCH: Although I was clearly a stranger here, I felt pretty welcome by the other customers and the staff here. TASTE: Didn't taste anything until later, but I should say that the cans of Tecate and the habenero chips were party hits. So yes, as I walked in the grocery, I was surprised by the amount of people in this small out of the way store. I made a bee-line for the freezer in the back (grabbed a 12-pack of Tecate for $12). While cerveza shopping, piñatas swung in the breeze above me. I liked how most of the products on the shelves were in Spanish. As I was checking out, the woman at the register talked to me in Spanish, and I had to reply in English. She smiled and then switched to English, too. (man, it should be illegal for me to not know Spanish at my age!). She was very nice and helpful. FRESH unwrapped beef and pork and pre mixed up n spiced chicken thighs fajitas with onion n green peppers. Just tell them how many or how many pounds.they have a 14" long FRESH local veggie section. Very limited but so fresh and just what you need. They carry bread, milk, Latino pastries and candy.sandwich ham eggs and butter. Then isles of boxed or canned foods. Beers, sodas, bras... Latino music and bagged ice. Nice staff and great prices. Meat and Vegs are super!!!
