I love that their "wares" isle is always color coordinated and their glass section is always popping. Your typical DG has the quick grab items with shelf stable items and some cooler/freezer items. Throw in a mix of goods for home and what not and you are covered. But this location has a small cooler for some fresh produce and meats. It is rather small, but serves a purpose for grabbing fresh items for a meal. I came in looking for that elusive item I had searched for all weekend. Say similar items, but they did not have exactly what I needed. What I can say is that this is very well used here. The parking lot was an indication that many people nearby come here to grab the necessities. Once inside it is more evident because of the size of the line of people waiting to purchase said items. What is sad is that DG put all this time, effort, and money into installing self checkouts, but has shut them all down because of the amount of theft that was happening. Pair that with the sever understaffing of any given spot that caused the line to be long and cause of a wait. Seeing this, I decided to not purchase an item here and stop at one of the many other locations nearby.

So, much like other small communities, Dollar General has moved in. One thing I don't enjoy about this location is that they could have continued the streetscape with building their building in line with others on the block for continuity and make it feel connected. But they didn't, they decided, that even with street parking available, they need a parking lot, making the street feel disjointed. Nothing special about the location other than filling that void. I stopped in to grab a few things I needed since I was coming through this area. Took me a minute to find what I needed as not two locations are set up equally. Like other locations it is a one register open situation and you have to use it. If there is a line, you will have to wait, regardless.

What I can tell you for me, once was enough. To all those people that are saying this is a great place, one-of-a-kind spot, yeah, that's true. But I don't think it's unique enough to warrant a return visit for me. I won't deny the fact that there are some deals to be found here, but those deals are outweighed by the overpricing of everything else here. Think of this place as a sort of Big Lots or Ollies. Some items are damaged, but still good. Customer service is lacking which aligns with the lack of common curtesy from the customers. They have no awareness that you may be near them and will not move for you to browse. Forget about getting to the coolers.

We're to blame for not starting off with a full tank, but we're not perfect. This gas station and mini mart rescued us on what was a really hot/humid summer day. As another yelper has written, there are few options available in this neck of the Allegheny's thick woods. So, thank you, Nittany MiniMart. After fueling up, we walked inside to what's a well-stocked convenience store that's fairly large, with the "Nittany Cafe" staring us in the face and good smells coming from its kitchen. Sometimes after a stressful experience, a bit of food and drink is what's needed to recover. Had a tasty turkey sammie combo, expertly made and toasted, and reasonably priced. The menu is pretty extensive, actually. There's 2 seating options: an inside dining area with good AC or outside, with picnic tables and umbrellas. Bought more provisions before departing (with a full tank this time). And a new lease on the day. I won't forget, and am grateful for, this place!

The DM cooks in the kitchen with no gloves and her hair down, but will tell employees they have to use these things. They've also fired and singled out employees for health reasons. Theyre is no union so employees have no way to defend themselves.
