Dean's Hobby Stop is a mecca of vintage kits, many in amazingly good condition considering they are 30-50 years old mostly, and at much better prices that you might pay on eBay. Not to mention you save the expense and risk of shipping if you come to the store in person. I live in Chicago and have family in the Detroit area, but I'll go quite a bit out of my way to come here whenever I can. Dean is a real gentleman and his wife and partner is a real gem too!

I literally was too confused to argue much but said something along the lines of, "that doesn't seem very accepting, even though your sign outside makes you seem, like you want to seem, "very accepting." This store is - odd.. they do carry a wide variety of lightweight home furnishings and decor, seasonal items, beauty, clothing, shoes, housewares, toys, gourmet food items, accessories, and baby stuff.. but it's so disorganized.. it's nearly impossible to look for anything.. it's like if Dollar General and TJ Maxx had a baby- it could be Gabe's.. They occasionally have a few items of interest, yet the displays are awful) yet better than than in comparison to the day they first opened)........but it's always a bit of a eyesore.. it always seems as if the manager needs to straighten the place up.. it is chaos!! We bought ground round (95% lean), NY strip steak (we shared 1 steak and it was too much, but delicious) and center cut pork chops. $30. Really! A week ago I paid $20 for 3 pounds of 85% lean ground beef at Meijer!! Brant is a 40 minute drive for us, but I think it's well worth the drive. I'm hooked.
