You ever have one of those times where you're actually glad to have a Wal-Mart nearby? We had a…read moresituation like that a bit ago. Coming home after a recent storm, I found that the power had flickered while we'd been out, and while most of my electronics had been fine, my loyal gaming television- one that had been with me since my days at Western, several years ago- finally had just given up the ghost, giving me the red light of death and absolutely refusing to even acknowledge the power button being pressed, held, hammered, what have you. Being that we were going to head to Wal-Mart anyways, we made some time to go and wander the electronics section to go price some new TVs and see just how much it would cost us to replace. So we just wander on over and well, what do you know- we find a bigger TV than we thought we could afford, on sale- with some features built into it that would allow me to re-do some of my entertainment setup and open up some connection space to maybe hook up something new! But what is a night of entertainment without some tasty snacks, I ask you? So we were off to the cold sandwiches- and yep, they have my favorite: chicken caesar wraps. Everything but the croutons all wrapped up in a tortilla or tortilla-like device, cut in half, and absolutely freaking tasty. It's the same with the bigger sandwiches- for store sandwiches (I mean, let's face it, we've all had the sandwich from a store where we bite it, recognize it as meat and cheese, but then aren't sure what kind of meat's on it without looking at the label), they're really, really worth the price. I just wish they came with more mustard/mayo/whatever than just the two little packets. So, all in all, we got a wonderful TV for cheaper than we thought, helped by some of the most helpful people in the area, and got to spend the evening perched in front of a bigger TV than we thought possible eating tasty cold sandwiches and thanking anything we didn't have to run all to Kalamazoo for any of this stuff. About the only problem we ran into was that it was an absolute pain getting our TV through the crowded aisles- maybe if there were fewer displays in the middle of the aisles, it could make it easier to manuver? But still, it gets another star from my previous rating.

Lower prices than I've seen in any other store. Shelves needed to be replenished badly. The drinks…read moreand snacks were looking bare. Check out service ladies were very sweet and interactive.

Wagoner's is your average tiny-town grocery store. It's got two checkout lanes, a small hot…read morecounter, and a somewhat decent selection of things- but on the other hand, it really suffers from being so close to a Wal-Mart and a bigger grocery store not five miles away. It's pretty much the penultimate small-town grocery store experience- if you just need a few things, it's an okay place to go shopping, but if you want to lay in a decent, sizable supply of food, you'd be better off going to the Family Fare or Wal-Mart in Paw Paw. It's somewhat clean, but the aisles are really kind of narrow- you can still get around people going the opposite direction, but there are places where if you're going too fast, you could just knock right into someone making the turn into or out of an aisle. The prices are all right, but at the same time, they just don't really have a lot of selection. If you just need something- like, say, a box of cereal, and a half-gallon of milk, this is a good place to get that. If you need some exact flavor of cake mix and a specific piece of produce, you might have better luck going to Paw Paw for it. There's also the fact that some, if not most, things are more expensive here than at the Family Fare or Wal-Mart, but you have to decide, what's more important, if you live in Lawton or the surrounding area- spending a little more just so you don't have to make the drive out to Paw Paw, or do you make the drive and save a couple of bucks? It's the kind of place you can pull your truck and boat into and grab enough stuff in the way of beer and snacks for an enjoyable day fishing, or if you just need some cat food on the way home from work and you really don't feel like spending the time up on your feet to wander around Family Fare, or if you don't feel like braving the crowds out at Wal-Mart. On the plus side, they DO stock some certain things- and varieties of things- not available at your bigger chain stores. They also sell shirts and other clothes emblazoned with the local high school mascot on it, so if you want to show off your Blue Devil pride, that's the place to get your gear! I have to knock the place for a few things, though- it's not open that late (it closes at ten, compared to the Family Fare (midnight) or the Wal-Mart (24 hours), and sometimes they seem to have trouble keeping the aisles clear (boxes, displays, and blind corners add up to taking it safe but slow with your cart). The bottle return also leaves a lot to be desired- there's just two machines, right in the front, between the candy machines and the local bulletin board. It's still better than some stores I've been to, but like I said, if you need more than just a few things, run to Paw Paw.

I love trying different stores. I didn't know this place existed so when I drove by I wanted to…read morestop and check it out and pick up a cold drink. My first observation was carts piled by the front entrance. Walked in and there was an unpleasant odor, almost like a bathroom type smell. I was greeted by the cashier upon entering; she was bubbly, informative and super friendly. The register at the counter was the only one open. The produce area that housed what looked like newer coolers, seem out of place. Lots of displays and clutter throughout the aisles. Really cool wine/beer area. The meat dept was eh? Most of the ground beef or burger was brown/gray, not very fresh looking. They did have a deli: hot food and cold salads. I personally didn't like the way it looked; very messy/sloppy. The employees I encountered while there also seemed sloppy and lackadaisical. Check out was weird being at the counter but the cashier made it worth it. She's a gem! No name tags but my receipt said her name was Amy.

What with the ongoing pandemic, sometimes you just don't feel like running all the way to Paw Paw…read moreto take your chances at the Family Fare or the Wal-Mart- or maybe you just don't feel like putting up with all the madness- or you could just be sick and tired of playing "will it be there? will it not be there?" with your tiny little neighborhood market. I can say, without a doubt, thank anything for this Family Dollar. We've been finding it so much more easier to simply stop here to run in for literally everything- cat food, milk, canned pasta, all the staples that we'd normally stop in at the Wagoner's for- and they've also been increasing the number of things they've been carrying- the sheer fact that you could go here and get giant cans of Beefaroni or Mini-Ravioli and everything else is just... it's nice. Plus it seems like they have stock in a lot of things we've been having trouble finding elsewhere. I mean, I'm willing to go out on a limb and say the only reason the Wagoner's here in Lawton is still in business is because they've got a produce and a meat area, and that's literally the only thing the Family Dollar doesn't have. Everything else, well... you can get there, usually for cheaper. For the record, I still get my White Castles here, years after the original review. If they ever got into the produce business, I'd go here instead of the Wagoner's.

Employees are just standing upfront talking (with no customers at the counter) and then complain about not being able to wait to leave so they can go home and drink. Seems like this dollar general has gone downhill ever since it was remodeled (6 months ago?).....like the employees couldn't keep up with the restock and the remodel and have now just given up. I'll be going out of my way to the pawpaw dollar general from now on.
