One of the only places to eat in Shingletown. Classic burgers, sandwich, salad grill kind of place…read morelocated inside Reeds Market. The portions are big, but the price reflects the portions. If you need to do any shopping, do your order at the grill first so it'll be ready when you leave! Huge fan of the salads here, they use leafy greens not iceberg and the portion is huge! The burgers are amazing, and the onion rings are a must try!!!

I've been coming to Reeds for 10 years and have spent thousands of dollars here. In the past, we would always have a great experience in the deli and market. Today was different! I ordered 3 sandwiches and chips. After I paid, one of the women asked me if I wanted sourdough instead of French bread. I asked her if they are all out and can I see what bread options they have. She said they're not out but they need to bake more. Before I could make a decision, some blonde middle aged woman behind the counter snapped at me saying something about how they're not out, but they have to bake more, then slams her hands down on the counter and storms off. The first woman looks at me embarrassed and said to just ignore her. 20-30 minutes later, when they handed us our food, another older woman with tattoos rudely yells "well that was a hassle!" WTF!? A hassle? In what world, is it appropriate to act this way toward customers ordering food? RUDE af employees. The first woman with an accent that helped me at the register was the nicest of the three. The sandwiches were delicious, but I will NEVER order food from here again.

Don't come for dinner - breakfast or lunch would be best. Dinner is whatever's sitting in the warmer, our selections taste as you'd imagine. A Tamale is like rubber, corn dog looked too gross to eat so we didn't, and the chicken strips were dry, though they were probably pretty good fresh. Picked up some macaroni salad for a side; undercooked elbows drenched in mayo. Sweet people, service with a smile, convenient if you need something basic but I can't recommend anything they prepare.

Over about 43 years I've come through Shingletown with family, friends and on my own to points abroad. My parents moved near here in 2003 and I have been near now for 2. Of the Shingletown store, I can say this. Not all the employees have been rude arseholes but many are. They haven't always excessively over charged but they have always overpriced and now they are price gouging, not price marking and randomly changing prices on patrons. To boot, I'm all for redemption and someone getting on their feet but it also seems that over time quite a few employees tend to maintain their meth habits. I wouldn't trust these MAGA(t) phucks at all. You'll read the horror stories from other places. It's endemic to the central valley, north central valley and Redding area in particular. There are good people here but there are also a PLETHORA of tweaked out ChristoFascists who share that one billionth of a brain cell with the rest of MAGA(t).

After several years of shopping at Holiday Market I have grown to understand that their meat…read moredepartment is seriously lacking. They don't subscribe to the usual country-wide USDA meat standards at all, instead push some off brand "sterling silver" stuff that they call the top 2/3ths of choice meats. They don't label things (like everywhere else) as select, choice or prime. That's the USDA standard across the USA. I discovered WHY they don't do that--they don't want to invest in a trained meat grader. It takes money to achieve the USDA standards. So if you buy any beef from them it's a complete gamble. Toss your dice, instead of your money away. I called them three times to get the manager's attention to this problem but she never bothered to return my calls. If you break down and buy their stuff just be prepared to have to return it--they don't trim the excessive fat off anything. Their logic--force the buyer to have to pay for it. Being choice fundamentally means we are being denied the ability to purchase quality beef at all from Holiday Market. Apparently it's quite common for customers to have to return meats. Other than beef, we have discovered other meats to be spoiled--literally rotten. Fortunately, it was so rotten we avoided eating it so as not to get food poisoning. On the positive side Holiday Market has a great in-store pharmacy and excellent employees (other than a non-responsive manager).

I get all the inflation, etc, but when i can buy the same item in Chico or Susanville for much less, it's not inflation. Example: an Amy's frozen meal at Holiday is about $6.49, $5.89 in Chico. A pack of Oscar Meyer Hot dogs is $5.49, $1.99 in Chico. Lemons are .69 or more each. $.40 in Chico. The list goes on and on. Some products are increased as much as dollar or more at a time. That's not inflation, as much as corporate greed. They have Whole Food prices to sell to tourists in the summer, but we locals have to pay the high prices all year long. I'm disappointed.
