We happened upon this store in a last minute effort to find some supplies that we had absent…read moremindedly forgotten back at home in Sacramento. After some driving back and forth along Main Street, we finally spotted this place, big as life! I guess we didn't recognize the store sign right away, because we were looking for "Dollar Tree". This sign was more specific but it didn't click in our brains at first. The picture logo was there, but the sign itself said "Nothing Over a Dollar Store". Anyway, we were in need of possibly finding some additional wedding decorations, icing spatulas and some wedding favors. I really wasn't expecting to find much here, but the minute we entered, I could tell our hopes would be fulfilled! This place was well organized, well stocked, and pleasantly clean. We found everything we needed and more! (Except purple string lights). Dollar Tree saved our butts and the wedding reception we worked on got rave reviews from the guests! (Too bad they couldn't post it on Yelp)!

Customer service is bottom of the barrel when it comes to the corporate world. The ice bay has been empty on numerous occasions for as long as a week, when the across town store always has stock. On 100F+ summer days, it seems like a no-brainer to keep the bin filled. Long lines are standard, and I have never seen more than 1 checkout clerk whenever I visited. On my last visit, I waited 5-10 minutes, along with 4 other customers, while the manager rang up a customer and did balloon fill orders. The clerks work in slow motion and seem delighted when a customer leaves, lessening their work load. The manager seems bitter and uncaring. Processing a return is lengthy, and employees seem poorly trained with sarcastic comments. They win, because as a customer, I don't want a repeat visit; You need to have time to waste to shop here. This chain will likely only survive in poverty stricken areas where shopping choices are minimal for a survival mode budget. On the brighter side, I think the store would be an easy hire for someone desperate for some type of work, as the company service standards are so low.

I was getting checked out, and the cashier turned around to two managers (I confirmed later they were managers) walking by. He told them he needed to use the restroom. They completely ignored him and kept on walking and chatting. He called out to them again and they kept walking. One turned around and gave him the dirtiest look I have ever seen, pointed to his line (at least 5 people behind us) and kept walking without skipping a beat. Human beings can really be disgusting to each other.

Of the Shingletown store, I can say this. Not all the employees have been rude arseholes but many are. They haven't always excessively over charged but they have always overpriced and now they are price gouging, not price marking and randomly changing prices on patrons. To boot, I'm all for redemption and someone getting on their feet but it also seems that over time quite a few employees tend to maintain their meth habits. I wouldn't trust these MAGA(t) phucks at all. You'll read the horror stories from other places. It's endemic to the central valley, north central valley and Redding area in particular. There are good people here but there are also a PLETHORA of tweaked out ChristoFascists who share that one billionth of a brain cell with the rest of MAGA(t).
