I get a corporate rate on cars. Here I booked a car; they called the category a "manager's special". I was gonna be driving the car only one day, but about 7 hours on that one day. I get there to pick up the car and the "Manager Special" is a box truck. Like a U-haul! Come on now! I'm not highway driving a UHaul for 7 hours! The promised "corporate" rate was $48. She was like "we do have a Chevy Equinox available." I'm like "that would be fine." Then she's like, "the rate is $90". Aww hell no! Bait and switch advertising. Don't get me in the door and then tell me "we're giving you a U-Haul." No, you're not. I walked out of there without a car.

She said sure no problem since it was already reserved for us the following day and can't be rented anyways. Perfect, right? So we run our car to the shop and call a cab to take us over there. We get there and go through all the paperwork and she runs my husbands card, after which she looked at the receipt and proceeds to tell us the bill went from $204 up to $980!!!!! She looks at us and said there's nothing she can do but refund us and we'd have to cone back the following morning. Incurring an additional 2 cab fares.... This was 30 minutes before they closed, at the minimum she should have called headquarters to see if there was anything else that could be done instead they not only lost the sale but also a customer that frequently rents cars.... Terrible customer relations.

So I call over there at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013, asking the girl on the phone if they have any cars that I could rent today. She said they had some full-size vehicles, no economy. I don't care at this point, I'll take a full size or any size, I'll drive a minivan if I have to, so I ask her when they close. She says 1pm. Every car rental on the north shore closes at 1:00pm or earlier on a Saturday, so I said ok, I'll drive over there and will make it before 1:00 and will take any car they have available. She says ok. She sounded like she was completely dumb and like she didn't give a crap, but at this point I thought she just had no customer service skills. Well, I was way off... So I go speeding down the interstate in pouring rain from Mandeville to Slidell because I REALLY need a rental THAT DAY. I have a group at my house, and in a ridiculous coincidence all vehicles except my two-seater ended up at the shop. I can't fit 4 people on my passenger seat, so off to Slidell with one of them to get the rental like I confirmed with the b*tch on the phone. I get there at 12:54 p.m. This is 6 minutes BEFORE the closing time posted on the door of the AVIS office, which she verbally confirmed to me over the phone after I told her that I'll be driving from 25 miles away to pick up a car because I really need it today. When I told her "I will be there before 1," she responded "OK," as if she comprehended the words coming out of my effing mouth. That turned out to be a wild assumption on my part, which I will never again afford any AVIS employee. As you may have guessed at this point, when I showed up at 12:54 p.m. the office was CLOSED. The b**ch that I specifically informed less than half an hour ago that I would be picking up a car from her location, something she verbally confirmed to me, actually CLOSED THE F*ING OFFICE EARLY..... AFTER TELLING ME TO SHOW UP OVER THERE. This is totally incomprehensible to me. What kind of human being acts like this??? Aside from those working for AVIS on Gause of course... Anyway, I drove half an hour there and half an hour back to Mandeville for nothing. There goes one hour out of a very busy day. Not only that, this woman also cost me ANY opportunity to rent ANY car on the north shore because the last half hour I had to get a vehicle I spent going to this piece of crap office. After wasting a full hour of my life on her incompetence/dishonesty, I was forced to go to the New Orleans airport, more than an hour away, to get a car. This took so much time out of my day that I had to leave my house with wet hair and no makeup and attend an event that I had been anticipating for weeks looking like crap. Had AVIS not LIED to me and dragged my ass to Slidell for absolutely NOTHING, I could have saved not only this miserable trip but also the trip across the lake to New Orleans to Enterprise, whose employees can still be trusted. I would have had time to get ready. So this is what you can expect from the morons at AVIS on Gause Blvd. And unless she had a real life or death emergency, whichever lying f...ing idiot had the 12:25-1:00p.m. shift at that particular Slidell AVIS on Gause on September 21, 2013 needs to get fired.
