Local news at its best…read more SNN is 24hrs and most of those 24hrs is a loop of the same 30min news reports and weather updates with local advertising and infomercials in the mix. They went bankrupt for 3 months last year and it was a sad time for Sarasota. I love weatherguy Justin Mosley's shellacked hairdo à la 50's Doo-Wop groups. I sometimes wonder if it's actually a plastic piece that's pasted onto his head. He is, of course, infamous for his on-air freak out over an in studio cockroach. http://youtu.be/DYXXYJ4sJVo Because this is America, he spends most of his on-air time doing his very best newscaster voice, which masks his true voice in the very best Anderson Cooper-in-the-closet (update: he's out! Congrats!) way. But when things get unscripted, it comes out. I can understand being a public personality in a small gun-totting town like this, why you wouldn't want to be openly gay, but I wish America was a progressive place sometimes. Either way, I really like Justin. He's part of the Florida experience for me. Pretty much all the newscasters and weatherpeople at this station all hold Masters degrees in American Classic News Anchor Vocals. They could all go head-to-head with Ron Burgundy. Sadly most of the news is about crime and murders, even though this seems like a quiet and conservative town who didn't give their vote to Obama, despite him making it one of the final stops of his tour before the 2008 election. It really is baby-killer, after baby-killer sometimes. Which is ironic in a state that's highways are littered with billboards for preachy, fear-mongering, anti-abortionist, faux-pregnancy helplines.

When you are tired of the music that don't make sense, this station is refreshing. I especially like the "morning cruise" Bill Martin and Dave Cruse and double kudos when Carmen Brown host along with the crew, she has plenty of upbeat comments and a *unique funny laughter, which is easy and recognizable when she gets going in her laugh, you can hear her cute snort . Then there's Dan Brodie in the afternoon, he can also be as zany but strict into the word of God throughout the day. A fine Jayar who drives you home with his blessings and good music .. Michelle Tellone has a young vibrant voice for radio keeps you upbeat from dinner time to bed time. Her praise and worship is modern and contemporary. When it's time for bed you should have Steve Surrete on the boom-box, he's a NiteLight Jazz Christian DJ who uses Christian Jazz music as a blend to the daily contemporary. Their outreach prayer messages goes out to all that falls short in prayer and wisdom. This station is certainly a family friendly station and is clean as a Holy Whistle on the air. Uniquely unlike typical radio stations the Joy FM is funded by the community and not by any commercial ads. You can say it is Entertaining, Conservative and a humble Christian radio station. I enjoy the stations' latest in Christian Contemporary Music and all their entertaining hosts! Many have been with the station for numerous years which lends a comfortable consistency, reliability and trustworthiness to their broadcasts. Online presence is excellent with comprehensive news, weather, breaking stories, lots of local information and more, as well as a great events calendar with info and links to everything happening in our immediate area and beyond.
