This particular BAM has a lot of used titles as well as new, which I found to be great! I even found a couple of Richard Laymon books! I will say the organization does leave a bit to be desired. Like, yes, there is a horror section, but almost all of the used titles are shelved with regular fiction? Including King and Koontz? It is a bit of an odd choice. But very friendly staff that were happy to point me in the right direction! read more

I love ordering from BAM so i was so excited to shop in store. There was so many book options everything is so organized and well placed the atmosphere was also so welcoming. There was a wide variety of manga which i loved but some of the mangas were quite damaged and i was sad about that because i couldn't get a certain volume i wanted but other than that everything is so good . read more

We went here to look for a specific book since we just happened to be in the area. Normally we, like many others now days, usually order everything and have it delivered, but it was nice to walk into an actual book store and find the book you wanted and walk out with it. The staff was helpful and friendly and the place was not overly busy. They have a nice coffee bar inside and comfortable seats you can relax in while reading if you prefer to stay a while. It did take a little longer to find the book on the shelf instead of just typing in the name online though, lol. Nice place to come to buy a book. They have several books in their autographed section for collectors who like the authors signature. read more

Books A Million is not Barnes & Noble, not necessarily a bad thing, but this BAM needs some work. The book you might be looking for will be hard to find, unless it's a best seller which is always out in front by the check out. Categories are hard to see, if I was a regular it wouldn't be a problem. What I did like was the coffee here, I never got the name of brand of the coffee they serve here but it was a great cup of French Roast. I'd like a BAM in Pittsburgh just to break up the stranglehold B&N has here. They do have a better than average magazine section. read more

Absolutely horrible company. I purchased an item online as a Christmas present that was listed as "In Stock" and should have shipped within 24 hours. Two days later I did an online chat in which I was told delays due to labor shortages. Three days after that, still no shipping confirmation so I do another chat and was then told it is backordered. This location has seriously gone down hill. There is no effective management as evidenced by the group of anywhere between 2-5 teenagers milling around the cafe, not working or staffing the cash register, or able to make any of the drinks on the menu in the cafe without looking like you just asked them to do a calculus problem. My parents come in here every Saturday and it's always some new train wreck- two weeks ago one of the employees spent an entire 30 min loudly asking another employee in the cafe whether she should message a boy, several times interrupting him when he was actually serving customers. The manager when approached said they were "understaffed" and that was the issue...um, okay, sure. The behaviour of the staff is so unprofessional it makes the whole experience of being here crummy. read more

Go to check out and the girl at the register, starts talking about a discount card and signs me up never telling me it costs money, and automatically renewing my account for the next year. Then tells me I saved 4 dollars off of the 20 dollars for the membership fee I look at the receipt and there is a 20 dollar charge. I go back inside and try to cancel the memership and she gives me the run around and refers me to take a few days and to cancel online, basically stealing 20 dollars from me. She probably get a few dollars for every memership she starts so she just scamed me for 20 dollars so she could have afew more dollars on her pay check. I was so impressed with the cheerfulness of all personnel I encountered this week at this HUGE store in Bradenton. Roseanne in Customer service helped me three times and was patient and so friendly. She most of all was greatly informative. When she handed me my free calendar , it was the icing on the cake!! Same can be said for girl who made me my eggnog drink, and the checkout clerk!! I became a member because I had such a good time and of course I am always in need of books!!! KUDOS TO EVERYONE AT BAM IN BRADENTON! read more

I visited the store on Friday evening, Oct. 24, 2014. What a delight! The store was well-stocked, clean and inviting in every way. I loved being there. Only one problem--outside lighting. The outside sign was only partially lit--"illion" was showing. The rest was unlit. The parking lot is very dark, making it hard to know that the store is even there and also giving a feeling of non-safety. I think many more customers would visit during evening hours if the outside lighting were increased. Bookstores are so very precious these days. I would hate to see this store close because of lack of lighting. read more

As the other reviewers have stated, BAM is, sadly, the only large bookstore in Bradenton. In fact (correct me if I'm wrong), it may be the only bookstore in Bradenton period. However, it has a fairly wide selection of books and periodicals, some of which are notoriously difficult to track down elsewhere -- Z Magazine, anyone? Every member of the staff seems willing to scour the most remote corners of the store to help people find what they're looking for. Joe Muggs café isn't half-bad, but I'm not the greatest coffee critic, either. It's rare to find this in a large chain bookstore, but there's a very welcoming community atmosphere (next time you're there, try dropping the usual retail formality with the staff and they'll happily reciprocate) that keeps me stopping in. Beware of the Books-A-Million magazine scam. Do not give anyone at this store your email address. They used mine to sign me up for "free" magazine subscriptions. You will be billed by a third party and it is a real headache. Very upset with BAM about this. I wonder how much money they receive from this scam. Will not return to this store or any other one. I'll make the longer drive to Barnes and Noble. Key word: Noble. :/ read more

The staff are not helpful when comes to returning or exchanges. I Will never go back! I purchased a book/kids bible for my friends little girl. I was worried that she would have the same book. The lady at the register told me not to worry and that i could return the book if i have reciet.of corse my friends daughter had the same book. I brought it back with reciet to be exchanged. She said there registers wont do a refund if its over 15 days! The Manager was no help at all, very rude and snoby. When i got there i also had stand there for 15 minutes for the manager to get back so he could return my book. That didn't happen...Nowadays at most stores, you can exchange or get a refund with in 30 and days some 90! Not booksamillion in Bradenton! Go to barns and noble in Sarasota instead of go online. It's sad that there is no other book stores in Bradenton. read more
