***100th Review***…read more Over the last week, I've been thinking long and hard about which establishment I want to dedicate my 100th review to. It's a meaningful milestone for me in the Yelp world and I want to choose wisely. I remember reading about the CEO of Yelp, Jeremy Stoppelman, who had the idea for Yelp, Inc initially when he had trouble finding a local doctor in 2004. It comes back to the idea of community, service and sharing and I decided to dedicate my review for this Target store in Bristol, VA. Now I've actually never been to this Target store and my dealing with them is purely by phone. However, they really touched my heart in an above and beyond way and here's how. Last week, the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target line launched and I had totally forgotten since I was celebrating my best friend's birthday that day. 2 days later, when I realized that I had forgotten to place the orders for the items I wanted, the online inventory and stores were sparse and it was especially hard to find the one item I really wanted, their large black tote bag with gusset. I called around and went to the local Target stores all around me, none had it and I was quite bummed. I decided to branch out and check inventory elsewhere and came across this store. From the moment I spoke with a store employee I felt the lovely Southern hospitality. Christine, the store manager, was kind and helpful. She had a bag in stock but they were unable to take payment over the phone and I live thousands of miles away. I asked if they could ship it to my local store and she said that it isn't company policy but she can check and get back to me. 2 days later, Christine called me and said she'd be happy to ship the bag to my local store. She said she also emailed all the store managers in that store to make sure they will call me when they receive the bag so it's not accidentally put out on the floor. I was amazed! This level of customer service is really a step above the rest and I am thankful they went to so much trouble to make a customer happy. Thank you, Christine and the crew at Target Bristol! Hopefully one day, I'll be out there for a visit.

It always feels like home as long as there is a Target close by. Not a large grocery section here…read morebut you will find organic eggs, organic milk and other organic selections. They have the Earth's Best brand kids' meatballs and chicken nuggets which are a staple in our home...unfortunately... Oh you, picky toddlers!! Their wine selections seem a bit overpriced here compared to Food City. A bottle of the newest Barefoot Refresh Summer Red runs $3 more at Target. Who wants to spend $7.99 when you can get it up the hill for $4.99? Certainly not me. Don't let the cheap price tag fool you, that wine is faboosh! On the plus, there's a Starbucks inside.

Just be mindful when purchasing candy or food at a bargain price. Your stomach may or may not agree with your purchase like my stomach did. Staff is working hard to stock and put away pallets. When they are available, they are helping and friendly.

It's Ollie's, a discount retail store that prides itself in a crazy assortment of stuff (some good, some junk) for really good prices.. and for that they do succeed. I'd rather come into one of these places and get amazing deals if it means they have to cut corners in other areas of running a retail store. I mean some discount retail places are so spic and span that the prices for their merchandise isn't much different than a big box retailer, and sometimes it'll even be MORE expensive. Not at Ollie's. Matter of fact, of all my experiences or Ollie's in 3 different states, their prices have been consistently cheaper. This particular one in Bristol is packed with stuff. And I mean lots and lots of stuff. Wished they were closer to me.

Tried to return a pair of shoes here today and they refused to take them back because they said…read morethey had looked like they had been worn. I only had the shoes on long enough to try them on and find out they didnt fit and they refused to return them for me. I use to work at a clothing store and if they looked bad I wouldnt have even tried to bring them back to them but there was nothing wrong with them.

But the owner has told her (despite *his own employees* who told her that they were the best sellers in the store) that he is discontinuing all his SAS Shoes. This is a guy who obvious doesn't care about his customers. (He did say "Well, we can order anything you want." Duh, how do you know what you want if you can't try them in your store???) So we went last week down to Johnny's Shoe Store in Kingsport, where they not only have a nice selection of men's and women's SAS Shoes ON DISPLAY, but they also have really knowledgeable salespeople who can help steer you towards a good selection. We are both done at Southern Shoes. I would stay away if I were you. There are too many competitors that *actually seem to value the opinions of both their employees and their customers.*

I appreciated the friendly-and-available team members strolling around the store, and the 'scan and go' self-check-out. I like the way they laid out the parking lot, so that disabled spots get a ton of room and don't have to park in the same way as the regular spots. Great design. The baked goods and fresh produce sections were standouts. If you've never had to go to a Californian Walmart, count your blessings with this store. If I'm ever back in this area, it's nice to know there's a reliable store around.
