I think that's an apt description. Apparently the Popshelf chain is owned by Dollar General. It feels like an elevated dollar store experience, except most items are more than $1. There was a little bit of everything-home goods, cosmetics, toys, cleaning supplies, arts & crafts, pet stuff, snacks, and more. It's one of those stores where you go because you have an idea of something you want to buy but nothing specific, so you just browse around and see what you can find. I can't imagine shopping here all the time, but I'll stop in from time to time to see what kind of goodies I might be able to find.

They are high quality exactly like the ones from the other large craft stores. Also a large craft section and supplies. I guess it's like a Dollar Tree and Five Below but much more upscale. They have a lot of things that you would find in Home Goods like towels, picture frames, candles etc. The quality looked very good. In the back is a large selection of candy which is very well priced. My husband found Necco wafers for $1.00 compared to $1.79. It's all self checkout, the girl was very friendly and helpful with my nail polish. I wish it wasn't so far from my house, I hope they open one in the St Pete area soon. I recommend checking it out.

This Ollie's has a reasonable selection of books, and I noticed some books here that I hadn't seen at the other Ollie's. All the prices are a great value. My only gripe is that one of the books that I wanted was on a super high shelf, and it wasn't clear how I was supposed to get it, so I had to be creative with how I retrieved the book. I browsed the other aisles but didn't see anything in particular. I was mainly looking for books and excess tea; neither Ollie's had much of a tea selection. The employee that rang us up was nice and friendly, and there was basically no wait, although it might have been because they were closing soon. I definitely think a good value can be had here as long as you're not looking for anything super specific. I enjoy going to Ollie's for puzzle books and coloring books, of which there are many.

This place is a cross between Odd Lots, granny's yard sale and the back room of your local Walmart…read more It's a large chain that pretty much sealed the doom of Odd Lots. While it's mostly general merchandise they sell, one can also find a pretty decent variety of cleaning supplies, personal care products, clothing, bedding, toys, pet needs and even non-perishable foods! Plenty of bagged and boxed candy too. The store seems a good bit cleaner than the Odd Lots that once occupied this space. It's also better organized and has (somewhat) friendlier employees, albeit not all of 'em seem on board with that. Anyway, it dampens the "holiday spirit" of the store. Lots of holiday and seasonal goods for sale too. They got nothing on Robert's Christmas Wonderland on Gulf to Bay, but one of THOSE is probably one too many except in small doses. Meanwhile, Christmas music was playing in the store. Between every one or two songs was another Ollie's ad. Each one of 'em ends with the same phrase as though barked by a group of military recruits... "Ollies: good stuff CHEAP!!" That pretty well sums it up: hook, line and sinker. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you can find THEM too. I myself won't be doing so, but my dear Queen Bee loves the place. To me, it beats the be-jiggers outta Dollar Parlor, Greenback General or Goodwill. That doesn't really say very much, but then again: enough to expect from a discounter for the Scratch & Dent Special Brigade.

It's well stocked with a men's section, children's section & Home Goods with furniture also OuiOui. This is the best location I have found in the Tampa area. Will def return. Highly recommend.

I was in the store the other day for the first time with my 4 year old. While shopping, I or my son…read moremisplaced my cell phone. When I realized I didn't have it, I retraced my steps with no luck. The awesome lady at the front, Kathy, offered to help. She flagged down the manager, Conrad who went above and beyond to help me. While a ran out to my truck to make sure I hadn't left it there, he went around the entire store with his personal cell phone calling me trying to help me find it, which he did! He even came outside to flag me down as he saw I was visibly upset. Both Kathy and Conrad could not have been kinder or more helpful. The store was organize, clean, and well kept. Its always nice to shop in a store like that. But when you have employees like Kathy and Conrad, it takes it to the next level. I will most definitely be back to this specific store with friends! I am so grateful to him.
