This store is in a plaza where you need to pay attention to drivers who don't check their blindspots. I pulled into this parking lot at around 6 pm. I had to honk at a car that felt like backing out without checking a thing. When I left, a similar situation happened with another car. I already felt that this wouldn't be a store that I'd frequent often if I am fearing for my life trying to find a parking spot. Anyway, I backed into a spot across from the main entrance. I walked in. It does feel like the IGA that I used to frequent. It simply has Dollarama merchandise. There was lots of Easter merchandise. From chocolate Easter bunnies, to baskets for your treats, you can find everything here. One of the few items that you can get for $1 are one-litre bottles of Pepsi. There were many when I was there. If you are looking for mason jars, this store has cases of them. The catch is that they aren't wide-mouth jars. Rather, they have bottlenecks. If you're looking for the former, you're out of luck. I liked the colourful planters at this store. You can do some cool gardening and save some money by getting your supplies at this store. You can get seeds and soil. Done! This store does not have any self-checkout kiosks. I lined up at the checkout area that moved fairly well. There was one person doing everything. He was pleasant. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I grabbed my items, wished him a great evening, and left. It's a decent store. Poor drivers backing out of parking spots that scare me. (134)

The store is of medium size so the aisles are pretty close together, not leaving a lot of space in between.The store is insanely busy during the holidays and numerous popular items are always out of stock. I wish a bigger Dollarama could open in the area as there is clearly a demand and a bigger store is needed to hold more inventory. There is also no room for self checkouts, which would speed up the check out process. Lots of parking and easy to get there through transit. Never had an issue with the employees there.

Sadly, even though the store is bigger, it still lacked a lot of the popular items as I guess the items are sold out just as quick which means there is a lot of traffic but still have a good amount of variety. I don't remember seeing self checkouts there. Perhaps it is not needed but I feel they need to add it to make the checkout faster and also not having to wait for a staff to show up to check people out. This Dollarama is conveniently located in a plaza with lots of restaurants and even a Service Ontario, and even a No Frills, at next door plaza which means can kill a few birds with one stone when needing to run many errands :) The parking lot is huge and there is sufficient parking. Transit Viva Purple is easily accessible to get there.

This plaza has my local ServiceOntario, where I have posed for my driver's licence mugshot over the years. This plaza also has a Dollarama that has been here for as long as I can remember. I decided to pay it a visit last Wednesday evening. On Thursday, my department had a virtual lunch. It was my suggestion to hijack our regular weekly meeting to ban chatting about work and have lunch with the team virtually. I managed to convince my colleagues to order takeout. It worked! Being on video (I'm not a fan in general, but I'm okay sacrificing my face for lunch and chatting about non-work-related stuff for an hour), I felt that I needed a Santa hat to get into the festive spirit. I knew that I could rely on Dollarama for my needs. It did not fail. Let's talk about parking. There are lots of parking spots in this plaza. Some of them are extremely roomy, like the one that I was parked at. I swung my driver's side door wide open and had another foot between my door and the car next to me. Yay! Dollar stores are deemed essential during this pandemic and remain open. The prime reason is that they offer food and drinks. Naturally, there were a number of customers shopping when I was there. I immediately looked for the Christmas section. I found it easily! There were lots of Santa hats to choose from. There was the traditional one that I ultimately got. One had two white braids going down either side. Another had antlers. I loved the elf hat with huge ears. The problem is that it didn't accommodate my huge head. Luckily, the traditional one did for a whopping $1.25. The aisles are long in this store. They stretch from where the cashout area is at the front to the very back before you hit the employee area. So, everyone seemed to ignore the arrows on the floor in each aisle. If you were at at aisle where you saw an item, but it meant walking down another aisle and back up to take a closer look at it, most chose to ignore what you should do in favour of convenience. This store is a fascinating place to observe how humans behave. If I didn't have errands to run, I would have found a chair and watched people for a good half an hour. Between Dollarama and Dollar Tree, I like the latter more before everything is the same price. Dollarama varies its prices based on the type of item. So, is it truly a dollar store by definition? Maybe it should change its name to Dollars-rama instead. I do enjoy getting candy here. I got two white chocolate KitKat bars and they were delicious and cheap. The snacks section is pretty impressive. This store has garlic naan, which I don't often see at Dollarama. Perhaps this area has more South Asian folks that this store is being accommodative. It's cool. I lined up to pay for my items. There were two cashiers working that evening. The woman behind me was standing way too close to me. My staring at her and the marker on the floor did not do a thing. She was oblivious, as was the woman behind her standing inches away. It's not an issue with the store, but with people who don't get it. Anyway, I got a nice male cashier who helped get me on my way. My items cost me $6.66. I joked that perhaps I should get another item. He laughed. I used my debit card and all was great. I didn't need a bag and wished him a good evening as I headed to my car. It's a decent Dollarama. Other than folks not physically distancing as well as they should in the store, I'd return because the selection is perfect for my needs. (448)

Shelves are truly completely filled all the time, and I find this is one of those Dollaramas that you always find what you're looking for. I honestly wish I could rate it 5 stars, but unfortunately, I can only give 3- the cashiers at this location are EXTREMELY slow, and I've noticed that they are not well-trained in general with the registers. It's very annoying because there have been time where I've waited 20+ minutes in line waiting to have my products cashed out. When I have my 15 minute break at work, I barely have any time usually to grab a quick snack at Dollarama. This is all because of these cashiers! Even when every cash aisles are open, there are still very long lines. So, my advice- If you have time to kill and you don't mind waiting in lines every once in a while, this Dollarama will usually always have what you're looking for, which is great!

Last Saturday, I was in Scarborough to pick up some takeout for dinner. After fetching my food, I did a search to find a dollar store and found this Dollarama across the street from where I was. Perfect! This store is in a corner of a plaza where Markham Street Station is. I found parking closer to the RBC bank and backed into a spot. I then walked over to check the store out. The merchandise is laid out similar to most Dollarama stores. You get seasonal items, which is Valentine's Day and Easter merchandise that immediately greet you. The selection was decent. Gift cards are right by the entrance. It's a trend. It doesn't work for me, though. Getting a gift card is the last thing I want to do when I'm at a dollar store. I'm getting goods for me! This store had a lot of candy. I was impressed. The selection was fabulous. I liked seeing sugar-free options. One-litre bottles of Pepsi products are indeed a dollar at this store. Most items start at $1.25. It's nice that you can still get something for a loonie. I end up getting a couple of bottles when I want pop. I tend to get either Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Zero. I like getting tissue paper at Dollarama. It does make your gift bag more festive with pretty tissue paper. It's nice and it doesn't breaking your budget. I had a competent woman at the checkout area. The store was busy when I was there at 5 pm. I paid with a debit card. Done! I liked my visit here. I'd return when I'm in the neighbourhood again. (58)

It's bigger than most dollar stores I've been to. They offer bath products, toys, crafts, kitchen supplies, birthday supplies, souvenirs, candy, home decoration pieces, etc. The quality of their products are good. The aisles are quite spacious but the store can get busy, making it a bit difficult to shop. There are always plenty of cashiers on board. They are quick and friendly but the lines are still long. Overall, a great place to hit if you don't want to spend a whole lot of cash.

However, the big bonus about this Dollarama, is that they now have self-checkout, so that you don't have to depend on an actual person (other than yourself) handling your purchases. I am a fan of this location for sure. It has a crisp, organized feel, where many other Dollaramas feel kind of grungy and cluttered, with stuff organized in random displays. Also, the self-checkout was a huge plus. I was tempted to give it four stars, because often you cannot find a staff to tell you where things are. However, if they hired all this staff, then they probably would not be able to call themselves Dollarama anymore. It is located at Port Union, just east of Shepherd on Hwy. 2. I don't think that it is worth a day trip out to Scarborough, but if you are in the area and want to pick up some inexpensive things, then this is the place! Parking is ample. However, the Rylander Dollarama also shares a plaza with a Drive Test Centre. You can expect to be driving quite slowly in the parking lot. Otherwise, it is a good shopping experience, and if you didn't get everything that you needed, there is a Canadian Tire on the other side of the mall.
