They even have fresh fruit water that I always asked for seconds. If you're hungry in between meals you can ask for a snack, my favorite was Greek yogurt with nuts and fresh fruit and drizzle of honey!! They do have three room upstairs and three rooms downstairs. They have a chair that will take you up the stairs if you're unable to walk. Upstairs is where their in house masseuse is Neri I believe she does have packages and is super sweet and gentle! There's a bathroom in each room and they are all very spacious so you never felt cramped. They do have windows and access to a patio area so natural sunlight is perfect. They do offer pedicures, IV drops, facials and lots more they will ask you when you arrive if you would like to purchase anything. They do have street parking but it's at your own risk. Never felt unsafe since they do have alarms all over the house. They do have a living room area upstairs and downstairs in case you're tired of being in your room. Everyone gets their own personal button to call for assistance When you first arrive there's a nurse waiting for you to assist you in getting out of the car, they will walk you to your room, ask you how you're doing. They will take you to your room and help you change since most patients are draining or have been in the same garments for the whole day. They will assist in you laying down. They have stepping stools, stroller thingies, extra blanket, pillows and even boopy pillows if needed. The nurse will than come take your vitals and any meds prescribed and start to go over the time frames of the medicine some are taken in 8hr increments and they don't want to wake you if you prefer to have them before you sleep. The nurse will ask for any allergies or preference on food be specific because they cook alittle of everything. I recommend buying your meds here since it was cheaper paid around 160 for my initial meds but everyone is different and you're able to pay USD, pesos or card. They do give you a sleeping pill which works amazing if you need one. I was in a shared room and didn't have issues. They will ask you if you want to showers or change and don't be shy to ask for anything else. My nurse even went to buy me a sprite because I felt I needed to burp. So good!! They change your sheets and provide you with the pads,gauzes, disinfectant and pads if needed. The nurses I interacted with were all amazing the main nurses who provided care for me were Lori, Lupita and Kari and they were the reason I extended my stay!! I thought after three days I'd be great but honestly ended up staying three more days. By the time I left I felt good and normal. These nurses were so sweet! So professional never made me feel like I was an inconvenience. They were very knowledgeable. I loved that they always checked my vitals, asked me if I had any pain or wanted tea :) trust me putting that faja on is a struggle!! Hahah LUPITA even brought me some tea from home that helped with my cough!! Love her for that!! Karla who was so sweet, was always driving me around. She would even stay after her shift when my doctor wanted to see me to take me. Had the best convos. Communicated after drop off's to get a time frame and if not available send someone else. Sometimes I had a two hour massage. They are able to drive you to appt for the doctor or any where else but only two times. Anything other than that is 30 and they do charge extra if utilizing Zelle which kinda sucks. Uber is around 9/10 bucks so it's about convenience. If you need it one way it'll be 15 bucks. They end up adding up since some doctors offer massages in their price for surgery so it ends up being expensive. You're able to pay the deposit thru Zelle and I emailed Andre' and was told I could pay the remainder of the balance as well if needed to. The medical pass with them is 40 bucks or 45 thru Zelle. They do provide a tip envelope upon your checkout. Andre even honored a promotion. He had after I decided to extend my stay which is awesome!! First, the communication was superior compared to the other two. All my questions were answered by the same or next day via email. I was always able to connect by phone when I needed to talk to someone. Second, I was able to communicate with the doctors by phone when I needed clarity for my questions. The other two clinics would not let me talk to any doctor even when I told them I needed some answers before paying the expenses for lodging, transportation, food etc. The doctors at ProgenCell were completely transparent with their advise even if it meant that possible stem cell treatment would not work for one of my knees and knee replacement would be the better choice. Third, the staff was totally punctual on all levels. Scheduled phone calls, treatments, transportation for pick up and delivery were right on schedule. Forth, the staff and doctors were kind, patient, thorough, professional and fun to be with. Fifth, the staff even set up the appointments and transportation for x-ray and lodging for me. Really, they were so efficient, all I had to do was show up. It's a little early to know of the long term effects of the stem cell treatment but I have notice an improvement in regards to my pain level and function with my knees after about 2 weeks since my treatment. I was given an IV of 100,000,000 stem cell and 20,000,000 stem cells in each knee. Overall, I'm very pleased and grateful that I found ProgenCell online. I will certainly use them in the future. When I got serious about weight loss surgery after suffering the up and down weight gain and loss from PCOS I researched a lot of places on different countries. I could have done the surgery under my insurance but I wanted it done right away. This hospital was on the top of my list. They have many coordinators and liaisons to help you through your whole process. Karla is awesome!! She takes care of every practical detail and makes sure everything is fulfilled to your standard. To qualify for the surgery you will need to go to their website and put in your info with height and weight. You get accepted right away if you qualify then you are contacted by a representative of the hospital. They do require a list of meds, previous surgeries, allergies, and medical history. There are certain conditions to prevent you from having the surgery and they won't risk your life for money. An internist sees you before surgery to review meds and blood work. He will also instruct you when to retake meds or stop taking certain meds altogether. Before surgery they obtain blood labs, Covid test, lung CT, and EKG. You get all your records, imaging, and prescribed post surgical meds upon discharge. I had the gastric sleeve which lasts 45 minutes. You are placed under anesthesia and they remove 80% of your stomach through laparoscopy. I have 4 scars on my stomach that will heal nicely. They do put a drain in you to remove any excess blood so your body doesn't have to go about absorbing it all. The most painful part of the surgery was the drain. It hurt with movement and deep breathing. I did well with my incentive spirometer but it was hard with that drain. Other patients complained about it too but we all realized it was very necessary! When it came out I felt 1000 times better. They do encourage you to drink fluids slowly after surgery and provide bottled water, Gatorade, and juice as well as ice chips. They had normal saline running the whole time and also hung antibiotics, pain medicine, steroids for inflammation, and meds to prevent nausea and reflux. Okay, so this place is as modern as it's going to get. As a nurse there were a lot of things I would do different but I was a good patient ;) The stretcher I was on had blood splatter (I hope) from another patient and one nurse gave me a breathing treatment with a mask that had been on the floor. I did my own cleaning in my room. I am so happy to have had this procedure here. They do a leak test the next day to make sure you're stitched up tight, by the way.

Some doctors speak English very well, but many do not, which made communication stressful at times. Another big issue was unexpected costs. I was told upfront what my package included, but once I was discharged, I was charged for every medication given during my stay. I was also hit with a BMI fee that I was originally told was already covered during my first consultation and paid before arrival. At discharge, I ended up paying an additional $835 on top of the $6,000+ I had already paid. On top of that, I paid for a full gastric bypass, but I was actually given a mini gastric bypass. This was never explained to me by the surgeon--I only found out afterward from the aftercare doctor. I do want to say Dr. Martin was great. She spoke excellent English, explained everything clearly, and I really appreciated her care. However, after surgery, I experienced complications and was throwing up blood. I was given medication to help with clotting, but I was continuously charged for it without being told. I assumed it was included in my surgical package, but it was not. Overall, I would say be very cautious and ask detailed questions about costs and procedures before booking with Mexico Bariatric Center. Make sure you fully understand what is included--and what is not.

When we first arrived, my initial impression was that the facility was just "okay." It's definitely not a luxury hotel, and if that's what you're expecting, you'll probably be disappointed. But after a few days, it really grew on me. I realized that it's designed for one purpose--to help patients recover comfortably--and it does that extremely well. Our first room was upstairs, and my first thought was, "How am I supposed to climb these stairs after a major surgery?" We also had an issue with the plumbing in our bathroom--we had hot water but no cold water. The staff let us use another bathroom temporarily while they worked on the problem and assured us that if they couldn't fix it, they'd move us downstairs as soon as a room became available. We arrived on Monday, I had surgery on Wednesday, spent one night in the hospital, and when we returned on Thursday, our new downstairs room was ready. They kept their word. Our new room has been wonderful. The air conditioning works great, there's a large TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and more, and the hospital bed is surprisingly comfortable. You can raise your head or feet, and it even has a massage/vibration feature. They also provided a raised toilet seat, which has been incredibly helpful. You probably won't find those recovery-friendly features in a hotel room. One of the biggest benefits of staying here is the level of care. They do your laundry every day, help bathe you daily, give you your meds, they take your vitals and you receive a daily lymphatic massage from Carol. If you're interested, Hilario also offers IV therapy to help with hydration, healing, inflammation, and energy. The staff here has been incredible. On our first day alone we met Raquel, Dolly, Cinthia #1, Cinthia #2, Alex, Guillermo, Betty, Yahaira, Alfa, Lupita, Claudia, Carol, Hilario, and several others I'm sure I'm forgetting. There are a lot of people working here, and every single one has been kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. The service has honestly exceeded my expectations. Now...the food deserves its own paragraph. I cannot say enough good things about it. Everything has been fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. A couple of meals were on the smaller side, but most portions were generous. I actually looked forward to every meal, and I don't recommend skipping any because you'll miss out! I even joked with Dr. Rios that I wanted to bring their Chef home with me to Texas. He begged me not to! They also keep plenty of bottled water available, and if you're hungry between meals, just ask--they have snacks, too. My husband is an early riser, so he used Uber Eats to order a small T-fal coffee maker, coffee, and a few snacks from Costco. Later, Alex told us that Walmart is only a couple of blocks away and that it's safe to walk there. There's also a nearby pharmacy if you want to pick up things like Latisse, collagen creams, or other skincare products before heading home. My only regret is forgetting to buy baby wipes! If you're worried about the language barrier, don't be. We downloaded Google Translate, and the staff also uses translation apps when needed. Several of them speak English as well, so communication has been easy. We're leaving on August 7, and I'll have one final appointment with Dr. Rios before we head home. So far, my healing has been going really well. As for Dr. Rios...I honestly couldn't be happier. I'm still swollen, but I'm already loving my results. His work is beautiful, and I'll definitely be posting before-and-after photos once I'm further along in my recovery. Overall, the entire experience has been incredibly organized. Everything runs like a well-oiled mac. They truly have medical tourism figured out. Let me tell you -- for the price, the quality of care, the food, and the overall peace of mind, it is absolutely worth it. I left after those 4 nights to try an Airbnb for 5 nights, but because I had extensive work done, I quickly realized I couldn't properly care for myself. Today, I'm heading back for 7 days -- and honestly, I should have never left in the first place. The atmosphere is serene, homely, and peaceful. You have everything you need to relax and recover. If you need anything at all, there's a call button and the staff come instantly. They aren't hovering or intrusive, but they are always attentive, following the doctor's orders -- checking vitals, helping with your dressings/faja, washing what needs to be washed, and making sure you're healing properly. The food is extraordinary -- healthy, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. They'll happily accommodate your personal needs or diet. As a hotel owner myself and at 58 years old, I'm a tough critic, and yet I cannot find a single fault in this place. What I especially appreciate is the balance: you're never bothered unnecessarily, but you're never neglected either. It feels safe, calm, and organized -- everything you would hope for in a professional recovery house. Just today, I had to urgently call Maria, the coordinator, and she immediately arranged everything for me, including a driver to pick me up. They also take you to your medical appointments, which is such a relief when you're not able to manage on your own. To be honest, I'm even joking with myself that if I ever come back to Tijuana -- for another procedure or even just a restful stay -- I would happily book here again. Salazar pretends to be a surgeon until the day of surgery when they are already numbing you and then all the sudden a different "surgeon" shows up. They are butchers who do NOT care!
