Captain Noe Lopez has been giving dolphin watch tours for the past 30 years and we just keep coming back! I've literally only taken dolphin tours from him since I was very young. He's obviously a professional captain and knows the area like the back of his hand. He adds humor to the tour and he always finds the dolphins. I've never left this tour without seeing dolphins. Note , you can buy tickets online ahead of time. You have to buy them at least one hour before departure time. Also, there is an outdoor waiting area with shade. today we took this bay fishing charter. it was the best one we have ever taken. in the last 15 years I have taken approximately 20 other charters in Texas in Galveston and Port Aransas but this one was by far the best. After reviewing options and reviews we selected Dolphin Dock for our sunset cruise with dolphin watch. Not only was the price reasonable but you were able to bring your own food or drink or purchase snacks and drinks on the boat. We had 18 in our group, 10 adults and 8 children ranging from 10 months to 11 years old. It was perfect for all the children. Captain was a lot of fun as well. We didn't just stay at the dolphins either. We were taken a little further down shore to the point. He pointed out many landmarks and also let the children pilot the boat. That was the highlight did the kiddos. Would definitely recommend if you want a little fun and enjoy a relaxing 1 1/2 hr cruise. read more

Me and my boyfriend went this week, and did a morning charter which was the way to go. Weather was great and the deckhands were very fun and helpful. At the end, the deckhands cleaned the fish for us and let us feed the guts to the Pelicans which was so fun. Overall great experience- worth the money totally just make sure to tip well!! read more

We went on a Brownsville boat tour. The speaker on our side did not work so we could not hear anything the captain was saying about what we were seeing. The sound coming out of the working speakers was muffled and hard to understand what was being said. read more

This is a nice activities for families and groups on vacation. It's completely suitable for all ages from seniors to toddlers. The price is affordable ($20) the location in convenient, there's dedicated parking, and you can bring your own drink and snacks. There are some for sale aboard also. Check online for times, prices, and coupon (there's a $3 one online but we were not able to use). They take reservations with credit card confirmation and accommodated our party of 15 easily. Everything is included in the fishing expedition: reels, bait, and lots of assistance for those that need it. The captain and the deck hand were very helpful, friendly, and entertaining. Just about everyone caught fish of some sort. There a bathroom on board, an inside area to sit in shade or if you need a table to eat on. The 3 hours went by pretty fast. Takes a maybe 20 minutes or so to get out to fishing location inside the bay then anchor out, fish for a while and relocate if you need to, which we did, then about another 20 minutes to return to dock. Check weather prior to going and leave enough time to pay. Arrive early as departure is punctual. After fishing is completed they will clean and filet your fish. I highly recommend this tour! Although, I will say it's not for the serious Fisher. However, all the kids had a blast and the adults too! (Ages 5,6,6,9,11,12,&14) read more

First of all, if you want a serious bay fishing trip where you chase bull reds, sea trout, flounder and other species, this is NOT the trip for you. A serious bay trip with a professional fishing guide will cost you at least $350 for two people. Again, do NOT think this is just a cheaper option. With that said, we had a very good time on our trip. We had four people including two children (eight and 15). We took the three-hour afternoon trip which left the dock at 2:00 pm. With a discount coupon our total bill was about $60. Captain Noe and the deckhand Joe were very accommodating. We had about 20 folks on our trip. If you use their gear just know it's a bit dated but works out just fine. The gear is a bit heavy for the species you are most likely to encounter. Next time I will probably bring one reel of my own set up with lighter tackle. With this many folks just be prepared, you will get lines crossed up and it will be crowded. On our trip we each caught one fish and just about everyone onboard had a least some action. Two people caught stingrays. Joe removed the fish, helped with pictures, baited hooks and gave great advice. Captain Noe was a ball. Very personable man with a great sense of humor. He has tons of local knowledge about stores and restaurants. We also got some dolphin watching in as we moved between spots. On the way in he let all the kids on the trip sit in the Captain's chair and drive the boat. (Note: Captain Noe can drop a bit of "sailor talk," but nothing too bad, didn't bother us at all). They do allow smoking on the boat and Captain Noe does smoke (his boat, his rules). Overall for the price, the length of the trip and the friendliness of the Captain and crew, this is a trip I would highly recommend. read more

What an adventure! While it was overcast and breezy, the Captain and Deckhand, Chris, made the experience one to remember. We saw several dolphin pods, as well as fished in many areas in the bay. We brought our catch back to the condo and made fish nachos. I highly recommend!! read more

We took the mid-day dolphin eco-cruise when we were on the island for Thanksgiving. The weather was great and we really enjoyed the cruise. We saw many dolphin. They call this an eco cruise because they drag a small net behind the boad (similar to a shrimp net). The deckhand pulls the net and dumps what they catch into a small tank. You can touch and learn about some of the critters in the Laguna Madre. This cruise is excellent for kids and families. The crew was great! The captain let each of the kids take a turn piloting the boat. A great photo opportunity - lots of happy smiling kids. The cruise was about two hours and, for the price, was great. I took the "Eco Tour" at noon on the 26th of December. Seeing as it was marketed as an Ecology tour and I am not from Texas, I was excited to learn more about the area and the animals that live here. I was sorely disappointed. The ecology portion of the tour was dropping a net from the back of the boat and seeing what marine creatures we could catch and put into a large plastic tub filled with two buckets of water. On the day I went, we got two pufferfish and a starfish. The pufferfish were then passed around the tourists for pictures. They were forcibly puffed up, then held out of the water for minutes on end, ignoring their obvious discomfort and fear. When I voiced my concern and asked if we could return them at least to the tub if not the sea, I was told no, and not to worry since they can survive out of the water for 20 minutes. That didn't really satisfy me. They can survive, sure, but nonetheless they're unable to breathe. You wouldn't approve of that treatment of animals if it was a pet. Why approve of it if it's a fish? We then motored around the lagoon with the fish in the tub, unsupervised, with kids picking them up for pictures again and again. (As they can bite off a finger according to google, I would at least have required supervision for the children.) At the end, they were dumped out the side of the boat while we were going quickly. At the least, we got to see lots of dolphins, who were happy to swim around and under the boat. However, I learned nothing about the ecology of the area, and was disturbed by the utter lack of respect for the animals that live here. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. read more

Group of 15 went on this cruise for evening of fireworks. Staff was friendly and our group brought a cooler with drinks so they had a fantastic time. I usually get seasick but I surprisingly did not on this trip. We were out in the water for 3 hours our entire party was happy with our cruise. Inside place to sit could have been cleaner but that would be my only complaint. read more

We called first, they said families were great, even our two toddlers, in the group. We were almost trampled in getting to the boat, and our group of 6 adults, 2 kids $ 2 toddlers became separated. We were told strollers were ok and brought it on and all those tramplers had to move to let us pass as well as well as the the bigger coolers (us and others) that were placed on the bow of the boat. The design of the boat had benches around the cabin but there wasn't enough room to pass anything/anybody without everyone having to move. Then after getting to the spot we dropped anchor and that is the point my family (all but 3) became sick as the boat bobbed side to side. And we were put directly in the sun. The other side of the boat was shaded and too full for us to move. Our guide was short with us to a point of being rude. Yeah we had crying babies part of the trip but it got better when they moved back into the bay rather than the gulf/Bay Area. We were back in the shade/partial shade during subsequent stops. His comment that he has a child at home and 'that's why I don't bring her on the boat' wasn't helpful. Maybe they should mention when they have a full boat and the fact there isn't enough bench to fit everyone. Other boats had better designs with canopies as well as benches on the back half. Ion top of all that I guess it doesn't help that no one caught any fish. The other fishing boats around us had more luck that is my 3 star review. read more

Living in the Valley I have been to all the dolphin tours at SPI and other cities when on vacation. This was the worst. Way overbooked, and the price was 15. Plus extra for using a debit card. Other than to announce that a net would be thrown in the water for 10 to 15 minutes - it was 30 - there was absolutely no discussion. Our trip's highlights were the 2 crabs they pulled from the net. We saw 2 dolphins twice. Other tours know where the dolphins are and go to them. And they share information on a daily basis. We just stayed close to the bridge and I guess waited for the dolphins to come to us, which they did not. No information about the area, the wildlife, the bird sanctuary. I couldn't sit down until the ride was almost over. My granddaughter was told beforehand she would get wet from the ride, but that didn't happen. We went the speed of a rowboat. Other tours are informative and entertaining. This was not a tour. This was an overcrowded slow boat to nowhere. Book elsewhere. read more
