GOING FOR THE GOLD I…read morejust attended a high school track & field meet at the brand new building located at the Park. This beautiful indoor Track & Field facility is a state of the art world class arena. It's the perfect place to train the future Olympic athletes in Chicago. The new $53.67 million indoor track is located in the Pullman neighborhood at Gately Park which totals 27.78 acres. It is a 139,000-square foot facility that has a hydraulic banked 200-meter track, a 4,000-square foot curtained warm-up area, eight sprint lanes, two long & triple jump runways and pits, pole-vault runway & pads, a high jump area, discus area & a scoreboard. There's also plenty of seating for 3,500 people in the stands. They have concessions stands which were probably closed on my visit because of covid. There's also multipurpose rooms and amazing locker rooms. Besides track events the space has 70,000 sq feet of event space. They can also host basketball, volleyball & non-sporting events. The basketball hoops & volleyball nets retract from the ceiling to provide 4 full basketball courts, as well as 6 full volleyball courts. As a proud Dad I gotta jump in and say I'm proud of my child who did not get passed on her leg of the relay. She held strong even though two runners challenged to pass. She pushed on and I'm so happy for her. I loved that she had a chance to run on such a beautiful track. The outside of the park was covered in snow but they offer an outdoor playground, softball & baseball diamonds, basketball courts and Little League Baseball Stadium. I'm sure the park really comes to life during the summer months. In 1953, the park was named for James H. Gately (1883-1972). He was President of the Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners. He did a lot for the growth of the park district. He raised $79 million in park bonds during his tenure and increased parks from 135 to 430. The cute part is that Mr. Gately voted against the name change because it broke with tradition by naming a park for a living person. He lost and they named it after him. He defiantly deserves to have his own park. It's been 50 years and he would have loved to see this new facility. If you have a chance check out this new facility. This facility will grow champions. Run for the gold!

Just an update on my review since it's been awhile and I was able to have a wonderful conversation…read morewith Inna and Christi, who own and run this business every day! I came in on a late Saturday afternoon and it was perfect... there was only one other customer here. Except for the kids music playing over the speakers, it was "quiet" and calm. Everything was orderly and clean and my daughter was able to play with everything she wanted. Some notes for you who haven't been here: - No outside food or drinks. And this rule is serious. I found out from Christi that this is because due to their business designation, they are not allowed to have potential allergens (eg. peanuts, soy, sesame, etc) brought into the building. They are just following regulations and are not just trying to generate more revenue... though it's good to support local businesses! - Make sure everyone is wearing socks. This is one of the reasons it's so clean here! - It's $15 per child for the day, with no fee for adults. - Paying with card is 4% up charge (due to processing charges from the payment company), so bring cash or pay by Zelle. The owners are super nice as long as you are willing to ask questions and let them know what you need. They are kind to the kids and welcoming to the adults. One of the toys was out of batteries and Inna immediately replaced them so my daughter could have more fun! There's also an extensive menu of snacks and drinks for you and your child, so it's a good place to relax (as much as you can while having kids ) and have a nice coffee. Definitely come by and support this local business... especially when there's low traffic!

We think most of the use here is for the younger set ... classes and party rooms. They even have an indoor play area for the young toddlers. Now, we usually use the facility for the walking track on the second floor surrounding the gym - free to use and open everyday the building is open. Nice track but a bit short. It takes 16 laps to put in one mile, but in inclement weather this is a good go-to place. Unlike the Sportsplex in Orland, this little gym is not air conditioned, so come on a day when the weather isn't too volatile. Still and all, recommended and a nice benefit of living in Orland Park.

The indoor park is free and open when the building is open. I came on Sunday afternoon. Not much action going on besides birthday parties in other rooms of the building. The park was clean and not too big or too small. My friend also brought her kid here and we had a blast. There's 2 benches for sitting and a garbage can in the corner. My daughter and I really enjoyed ourselves. I look forward to bringing her back. Very nice facility.

Older boys were allowed in and there was inappropriate and unwanted groping being done to 6th graders by high school aged boys. My daughter called us upset and hiding with other young girls in the bathroom. Younger kids cell phones stolen a young girls arm was broken due to slipping on water the older boys threw on the floor. My wife picked up my daughter and I called the police. As I was talking to the supervisor on duty he asked me to hold on as other calls were coming in about this situation. My daughter was so excited for this dance and came home crushed this happened. This establishment was ran by 9th grade aged kids that night and it shows. No or very limited adult supervision and I use adult lightly due to what happened. As of now we know one boy was arrested for groping young ladies. This is a community center a place kids should feel safe and they failed miserably.

It has soccer fields, a baseball diamond, tennis courts and a park. They also have a full 18 hole Frisbee golf course. The best part is the Meeting and event spaces. Its the perfect place for really any kind of event. I have it booked already for my wedding and reception. It has a very open and airy feel with the white walls in the barn room. There is also the really fun Silo room which we are using for pictures. Almost everything you need to know about the meeting rooms is on the website. A quick call to the administrative office can answer any other questions. The staff there is really friendly and extremely helpful. They also have many great ideas to make your event great. I strongly recommend this to anyone that needs a meeting and event space. You can rent out one of the picnic areas in addition to the indoor meeting space. That is what we are doing for the ceremony. Extra Tip: Walk around the property, there is a ton of great picture moments, look at the fairway on hole 1 and 17 of the frisbe golf course. There is a great picture perfect moment.

I first went to this park 10 years ago when I was 18 for the 4th of July fireworks. This time I took my baby brother who is 12. Parking on holiday: There was hardly any parking but we did park across the street in the parking lot for the small children play park. The walk across the street was not long at all, but making it thru a ton of people was. safety: In today's society, it is not so safe to be outside anywhere in Chicago or the suburbs of Chicago. With the firework bombs and loud people I was kind of shaking siting in open field because of all of the mass shootings happening here. But On the 4th of July there were plenty of police but that did not stop the teenagers from running in the crowds with M-80's bombs. They did catch the "cool" teens who kept doing this but it still scared the daylights out of the younger babies there. Fireworks: The firework show was exactly 20 minutes long and worth the wait and mosquito bites. The colors were big and vibrant! my brother couldn't take his eyes off of it. They were so close it looked like you could touch them. they were very beautiful! I recommend bringing your family, but keep them in eye reach.
