Overall, the poor customer service and uncomfortable conditions made for a disappointing experience. There was no concern to our comfort in addition to the rude responses from the staff. There were so many different types of birds and no chirp was the same. Squirrels playing in the trees, butterflies, bumblebees and more ducks than I have seen at one time. On March 3, 2026, I was involved in an incident during practice where a coach directed vulgar language toward me ("get the f'n ball"). When I later responded in frustration, I was suspended for violating rules around language and conduct. So to be clear: athletes are disciplined for language, while similar behavior from coaches is not held to the same standard. I was told by leadership above the team level, including an individual from within Special Olympics named Amie Dugan, that someone would follow up with me within a week to discuss both the incident and my concerns about how athletes are treated. That follow-up never happened. It has now been almost a half a year. Because of this situation, I missed out on participating in state championships for basketball and the following softball season. That is a significant loss of opportunity over an issue I made a good-faith effort to address. This is not just about one incident. There have been multiple documented complaints regarding coaching conduct and professionalism. In those cases, the outcome has been minimal accountability, often limited to informal or insufficient apologies. In contrast, when athletes respond in similar ways, the consequences are significantly more severe, including suspension and loss of participation opportunities. Many of the athletes on these teams are adults with jobs and responsibilities, yet are sometimes spoken to in ways that feel disrespectful and infantilizing. When concerns are raised, they do not appear to be taken seriously or followed up on. I attempted to resolve this privately and respectfully. Being told I would be contacted and then hearing nothing for almost half a year shows a lack of accountability and professionalism. If leadership cannot follow through on something as basic as a promised response, it raises serious concerns about how complaints are handled overall and whether standards are being applied fairly. I hope this organization takes a closer look at consistency, communication, and respect--because based on my experience, those standards are not being upheld equally.

I know there's not much to do in the Beecher-Crete area. I grew up there. However, I have fond…read morememories of Plum Creek, and I've gone back there with younger siblings who didn't get to experience it (up to that point). The Nature Center has been redone, and it looks great, and the hiking trails are pretty good. Yes, this part of Illinois is mostly unremarkable for wildlife, but in just a few minutes, we found a tangle of snakes near us sunning in a pond (it's a brain teaser to count how many, see attached). Plum Creek is also famous for its hill. Even in springtime, it's fun to see who can run up and down the fastest. Of course, when there's snow, the competition is really on.

The stage had blocks of ice ready to be transformed into clever and stunning art . The setup in the small parking lot flowed smoothly . Great job by all the restaurants that participating in the chili cook-off . The samples were so diverse , who knew chili could be so different ? Hot chocolate was available at the front and s'mores trimmings in a baggy was being distributed by local police in the back . Small wood burning fire pits were putting out the heat to toast those marshmallows . There was a very well built bags board game from ice . It was fast and slick , the challenge was fun. Two other Photo Op ice pieces were in the lot and on the stage . The event ran from Noon until 3:00 . Just the right amount of time to sample ten specialty chili's and vote for your favorite . We stayed for the award ceremony , three trophy's we're given out . The people voted fat Rosie's as the best. If you missed it try restaurant week during Feb 17 - 27 . Although the fire and ice event will remain very special to me and my fiancee . The outdoor dance in the brisk weather with radiant heat from the bonfire was epic . And thanks to the little girl who took our picture. Great community spirit during less social times .

Breidert Green is the heart of Frankfort and many of its activities. Depending on the time of…read moreyear, there are so many diverse actitivities that occur here. There are Sunday concerts in the summer and Arts and Crafts fairs in the fall. There are ice sculpting events, chili cook offs, runs and out door movies. The Green is maintained beautifully with the stage set inside a replica of the former train station. It is located along the Old Plank Trail which runs on the old railroad path. There is even a magnificent public washroom which is always spanking clean. If you come to Frankfort, you will probably see the Green. It is at its best in the summer bloom or under the sparkling holidays lights. I just love it, however corny that sounds!

The park is nestled in a beautiful community and the maintenance of it is well kept. My niece and nephews loved this park. The boys really loved the splash pad. The walking trails around the lagoon are awesome for exercise. This is a great park to come to on the hot summer days and play.
