Drove from Carcassonne, where we were staying at Hotel de le Cite, and was specifically recommended by our concierge to visit this winery. According to the website it is open to the public Monday-Friday from 9;30 to 5:30 but when we arrived at winery we were met by security guards who allowed us up the 1km road to the chateau and parking area. We promptly returned to our car and were programming our GPS for our next destination when an older gentleman approached our car and wanted to know how we got into the winery and what we were doing there. After describing what we were doing he told us the area had poor GPS service and we needed to go..... we were nothing but polite and well mannered and felt the winery should have done a better job of managing this situation. We were made to feel like an imposition instead of potential clients all because the management didn't take the time to post a simple sign or let their security know what was happening.....boo! read more
