They liked that they had a spa and pool here. I was first taken aback by other guests walking around in the spa area, rather scantily clad. Much different than being back in the states. This hotel was closer to the old city, Altstadt, but a little further away from the cathedral. I wasn't fond of the directional and one ways to get to this hotel. It wasn't always easiest to get to, if you don't know your way around. There is however a close S-bahn station pretty much in front of the hotel. Still there's a lot of food options in the vicinity and some great gelato places as well. The best time to be here was always during Christmas. I always had the Christmas market set up and there's a really nice one always at the altstadt as well as at the Dom, which is close by. It is also not far from the shopping center or main street for shopping, Hohe strasse.

The rooms are nice and spacious and well equipped and clean. The bed was also very nice and comfortable. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the hotel itself and also plenty nearby. Prices were reasonable and I enjoyed my stay here. The food was average and whilst there was plenty on offer for our conference the taste was not great. I did visit two of the bars with colleagues and they were both nice and friendly places and plenty of room to hang about. The conference facilities here are excellent and spacious. It's hard to imagine such a big hotel exists in the middle of town. I would happily stay here again. It's a well located hotel in Cologne.

I was upgraded to the Club Level ... and this was my first-ever experience with it. It was like walking into a very nice office reception area, with food & drink readily available. It was funny one night when I tried their afternoon "reception". They brought out lots of appetizers and even a hot penne pasta dish. The staff on this floor is amazing, as well! My room was very nicely-appointed, and I had a direct view of the train tracks just before crossing the Hohenzollern Bridge. Since I'm a bit of a train nut, this was absolute perfection for me! I wasn't even envious I didn't get a Cathedral-facing view, either. :-) Also, since it was late May, the sunrise lit up my room beautifully every morning. (Alas, if there was one thing that bugged me a little, it was the shower. The water temperature would change every time someone flushed a toilet somewhere in the building. Hopefully this can be addressed. On the bright side, at least my morning showers were invigorating!) Legends, the bar on the main floor, was fantastic! I will judge a place by how they make their Whiskey Sours, and Legends is indeed legendary. Their food menu is plenty satisfying, too. I enjoyed at least a couple afternoons & evenings here. Since breakfast was included in my hotel reservation, I definitely took advantage and ate at Glashaus. Now THIS is a breakfast buffet! I think I could spend an entire morning here just getting fat & happy (vacation calories, like movie theater calories, don't count!). The layout is world-class, as is the Omelet Station. Glashaus breakfast is definitely a way to fall off the diet wagon, heheh! :-D All-in-all, a great place to stay and I look forward to staying again.

The waitress was possibly the rudest person I have ever met. We were a group of 8 work colleagues, certainly not loud or demanding. The bad service started when we walked in, and were not greeted, although the restaurant was almost empty, and 3 members of staff were having a chat. The first drinks were served 45 minutes after we arrived, and the food even later. A wrong meal was served with no apology, and only changed after we asked. In the 3 hours we were there, we had 2 drinks each. It was not a weekend, and the place was no where near full. The bill was wrong, and when we politely pointed this out, she basically threw a tantrum, and ended up literally throwing coins on our table.

The AC in my room was broken and it was very hot (85 degrees F in the room and very humid). The…read morestaff was unable to move me and unwilling to compensate me properly for my discomfort. The General manager refused to communicate with me about the problem and rather had his lower management staff communicate with me, although I had specifically asked for him twice. The wifi was spotty and didn't work properly, constantly kicking me off of my devices. Construction noise woke me up early in the morning. Not a pleasant stay. Managent staff was unhelpful and very curt with me. The front desk girls were nice.
