This was the other hotel I stayed at when I was traveling back-and-forth from here to Michigan for…read moresix months. Most of my colleagues and team members also stayed here. They liked that they had a spa and pool here. I was first taken aback by other guests walking around in the spa area, rather scantily clad. Much different than being back in the states. This hotel was closer to the old city, Altstadt, but a little further away from the cathedral. I wasn't fond of the directional and one ways to get to this hotel. It wasn't always easiest to get to, if you don't know your way around. There is however a close S-bahn station pretty much in front of the hotel. Still there's a lot of food options in the vicinity and some great gelato places as well. The best time to be here was always during Christmas. I always had the Christmas market set up and there's a really nice one always at the altstadt as well as at the Dom, which is close by. It is also not far from the shopping center or main street for shopping, Hohe strasse.

The rooms are nice and spacious and well equipped and clean. The bed was also very nice and comfortable. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the hotel itself and also plenty nearby. Prices were reasonable and I enjoyed my stay here. The food was average and whilst there was plenty on offer for our conference the taste was not great. I did visit two of the bars with colleagues and they were both nice and friendly places and plenty of room to hang about. The conference facilities here are excellent and spacious. It's hard to imagine such a big hotel exists in the middle of town. I would happily stay here again. It's a well located hotel in Cologne.

Breakfasts was great, location was great, 10 min taxi to little Tokyo, the bed was comfy & the room rate was good. The only flaw was the shower set up, no shampoo & conditioner which was strange, no door, thus good amount of splash bounced off the wall during shower. In addition, the room smelled bad a day after using the shower which was really bothersome. I spent some time & tracked the source down to the invisible drain under the wooden shower floor。 I am pretty sure it's either the drain or the wet underside of the shower floor that bred bacteria which caused bad smell. There's no access, no easy way to fix it, I ended up flushing the drain using the shower, wasted a lot of water but the problem went away.

We only had a bit of trouble at dinner because the kitchen was terribly slow. Unforgivable, so I'm dropping a star. But hospitality standards were good, and the taste was exquisite. If you don't mind experiencing what it feels like to be in a prison cell, go for it. Here for business so for me it doesn't matter. The internet WIFI was spotty, but worked well when it did work. Leaving the front entrance, you are right across from the train station (20-mins to Cologne) and turn right and right again and you are two blocks from the old town atmosphere, brick paved streets with shops and restaurants. Like I said, good location. Not sure about the price (I put pricey because of the location), the company is paying for it.
