Domenica's is a slice of Italy found in Knowlton. The wafting aromas of homemade italian authentic cuisine pleasantly invades the nostrils when you enter. There is a vast assortment of Italian imported cured meats, olives and cheeses, as well as in house made tomato pie (like a thick crust pizza, minus the cheese-very popular), meatballs, stuffed chicken breasts, meatloaf, breaded cutlets, soups, salads. I would have taken pictures, but I was politely asked not to, to ensure the quality of their offerings was not compromised by poor images (understandable).
They also import fine olive oils and vinegars, pastas, including gluten free varieties not found elsewhere. The L'Or De l'Italie Fraise (strawberry) Balsamic is to die for. These are the balsamic varietals that are so deliciously thick, that a little bit goes a long way (which is why their prices are a bit more expensive than what you find in a common supermarket, due to their incomparable difference in quality).
They make espresso, cannoli per order.
The place was hopping with locals and tourists alike. Domenica and her daughter are extremely welcoming and like most Italians, try to make you feel at home. read more
