Dr. Sisto is a sports doctor. Trust your joints and hands to him. 10 arthoscopic surgies,knees, thumb joints, shoulder joints, all shot from being a workaholic and do it yourself man over 20 years, all very successsful. One shoulder needed a replacement according to a Lake Havasu City, AZ doctor. Dr.Sisto looked at the xrays, said it is arthritis, surgery is optional or some Alleve til it gets worse. I manage a medical practice, and I can honestly say this experience was completely unprofessional. I went in for knee pain, and the doctor recommended a PRP shot, stating they would need to get authorization for the procedure and that he would "fight" to get it approved. However, when I spoke to the front desk, I was told they don't actually seek authorization at all. Instead, their protocol is for patients to pay $1,000 out of pocket for the shot. When I mentioned what the doctor had told me, the front desk person seemed confused and said she would need to speak with him because that's not how they handle things. This lack of clear communication and the disconnect between what the doctor said and what the office practices is absolutely ridiculous. As someone who manages a medical practice, I can say this level of mismanagement and miscommunication is unacceptable. I won't be returning. read more

Doctor is great and once in the room with him is staff is . But front desk? Common, do better. Be more professional. In the medical field FMA or BMA, you're taught you are the face of the office when in front and empathize with your patients on a professional level. MA is not hard, trust me I've been there. Underpaid and overworked at times I get it. But leave your personal conversations for off the scenes. EVERYTHING is heard from your window station to the tiny waiting area were kept in. My visits with Dr Sisto been very stressful and frustrating. He totally ignored my complaint of constant severe pain and me not being able to sleep well due to the pain. Did not give medication for my pain. He absolutely did nothing for me. Always in a rush many times left the room while I was still talking to him. Dr Sisto just blabed out the nurse will take care of you. not even five minutes and he was out the door .And he gets paid for this kind of treatment? I was referred here by workmans comp. Walking into the office I was taken back by twenty-four (24) chairs, all filled! After filling out my paperwork and waiting for sixty-two (62) minutes, I Was finally called. Escorted inside by the nurse and went through a complete medical background. Concluding my visit with the nurse I had two (2) xrays performed in the next room and then back to the patient waiting room for another thirty-one (31) minutes at which point Dr.Sisto came inside, finally. Dr. Sisto's bedside manner is EXCELLENT!. I explained my injuries and then he came up with a treatment plan. The office staff (VERONICA+MARIA are out of this world professional, beautiful personalities that make every appointment unbelievably comfortable) have great personalities and all appeasred to be very helpful even while confronted with one hostile (because of 2+ hour wait times) patient and kudos to them for keeping their cool!!! Final thoughts, because I did not read the signs prior to parking, I was issued a parking ticket ($93.00) at which if I would have had a normal (30-45 minutes in total) visit time I would have not been issued a parking ticket but because Dr.Sisto is very well educated and sought after, I had no choice but to wait... Overall impression, great office personnel as well as the nurse and xray-tech and of course, A+ doctor!!! UPDATE; 3/15/2018 8:45AM appointment time was honored, kudos!! VERONICA+MARIA who is two of Dr.Sisto's nurse's and the most fucking amazing human beings I have met. Maria+Veronica came in and prepared the basics e.g., questions about my injuries, pain levels. I left the parking garage at 9:48AM this time! This being my second encounter with Dr.Sisto and his frontline staff, left the office with a good feeling again!!! UPDATE; 6/13/2019 11:00AM appointment with Dr.Sisto. The waiting room was 75% full but their office has multiple doctor's. The patient's are generally seen within 5-30 minutes upon arrival. I always try and highlight employees's who make a great first impression towards me. Here at Dr. Sistos office there are many excellent employees's from my experience. I have to brag about two specifically, Maria+Veronica! They are Always in great spirits and full of enthusiasm. This behavior is contagious as I have noticed when patients go into their appointment not smiling, only to leave with a smile that extends ear to ear !!! Also,THERESA who schedules every appointment for us patients, should get an award for all the bullshit (patients in a bad mood) she has to put up with... Almost all the staff at this medical office should be put up for a raise and given preferential parking for 30 days especially the medical staff I have highlighted here. I can't begin to describe how pleased I am with the outcome and my physical therapist says that for my knee to be in this good of shape at this stage that it's because the doctor is a true artist in the field ! Took my client to DR.Sisto (sicko)for foot/ knee pain referred by her PCP. Not a good experience with the Dr/staff no time spent with her and blabbed out "you have a broken toe wear a boot it's getting better just give it time". Yes she had surgery years ago for hammer toes. So of course they were broken to correct the toes, but this wasn't a new brake I decided to look at his review online. WORST - DOCTOR - EVER! Can I give zero stars? His total lack of care for my problem resulted in his mis-disagnosing me, causing me a year of pain and perhaps a lifetime of misery. I fell and broke my ankle last year. My GP took x-rays and sent me to this so-called "expert". He NEVER examined me, just took a quick glance at the x-rays, had the rude nurse give me a horribly uncomfortable boot to wear and told me to see him in 6 weeks. The doctor was terribly condescending and rude and so was his staff, except for the receptionist. When I went to my own doctor in 6 weeks, I found out that 2 bones in my foot were ALSO broken and were now healing improperly! If he had even bothered to take a real look at the x-rays or examine me, it would have been obvious. My foot was swollen and black and blue, but it did not occur to him to actually examine it. Since the bones were not set properly, it is taking more than a year to heal, and they will never be correct. If I hadn't taken it on myself to wrap my foot at night it would be worse. Further - At least he DID give me a prescription for the pain (yeah - 3 bones fractured) but when we got to the pharmacy, it was written so illegibly, that the pharmacists couldn't read it! I sat in the car in the rain for 2 hours while my wife and the pharmacist tried to reach Dr. Sisto but he never returned the many pages. Finally they reached another doctor. Further - As we were leaving his office, his staff told us to go to a Medical Supply store for crutches, but it was too much trouble for them to get the address. "It's just up the street" was all we could get. My poor wife was running around in the rain for blocks to find the place! While I sat out in the drizzle. Just. Don't. Go. If I could give zero stars, I would. I saw him for over a year and was so neglected that my new Dr has quickly found nerve damage and other related things I mentioned to Sisto but he ignored. He has zero communication skills, will see you for only 30 seconds in the exam room if you don't stop him to ask questions (and then seems impatiently annoyed you're keeping him there for a minute and a half longer than he wanted to talk to you), and only treats what he wants to...he shrugs off anything else you may complain about. Won't even test it. He appears to be more interested in preserving his relationships with worker's comp insurance companies than caring for patients. He often cancels appts at the last minute, even when you set the appt a month prior, so you're then squeezed onto another day/time already fully booked that may not work for you, because he decided to take the week off. Happened at least 30% of the time. His average office wait time is an hour just to get into the exam room, there is often not enough seating for all the waiting patients, and he obviously has at least six appts booked at the same time. He and his son, who is the PA, then go from exam room to exam room and process the patients. Yes, they mostly process you rather than treating you. If you can find another doctor, I can't emphasize enough that you should. read more

I have a torn Rotator Cuff on my left shoulder...went to see him, he seem Ok...made him laugh...His Surgery assisant (BERNICE), IS THE PROBLEM...my surgery was to be on March 2nd, 2021..I've been seeing him, for Prep work, Blood Work, Chest Xray, Coronavirus test, and see my Intern for a OK for Surgery...The last day before Surgery, I get a phone call from Bernice saying your not covered with your Insurance plan, but yet, I've been seeing him for 5-6 weeks prior to Surgery, So I called Blue Cross, and again fix all the loop holes with my Insurance, So I call her back, and of course left a message, most of the time she don't pick up, left her a message saying everything is Ok now....so 3 days later, I call back and surprise she Answered the phone, I ask her did you get my message 3 days ago...she said yes, said she was sorry shes really been busy, give my 2 days, and I will call you back with a new Surgery date, meanwhile I'm in Alot of pain in my arm, today is the 15th of March....still haven't heard from the office...So now when 9:00 AM comes around I will call Blue Cross and do a MAJOR COMPLAINT....She seems not to care or very forgetful...either way, I shouldn't have to wait 2 more weeks for a Surgery date. read more

I go to his Palmdale office. All my appointments I wait to be seen over 2 hours sometimes! He spends less then 2 mins with me. Walks out while I'm still talking to him. It's a workers Comp case and so he just says we'll see you in 6 weeks ok. I've had bad experiences with the staff and filing and following through with paperwork. Been seeing him since the beginning of the year and frustrated that he still has not addressed some of my concerns. If he'd sit long enough with me and listen to me maybe he'd know what's going on with me and properly address my concerns that I still have got going on! read more

Terrible experience. Very very negligent. Made me wait almost 2 months after surgery for torn finger tendons to start physical therapy because it's what he recommend. Due to the long wait I developed thick scar tissue which has now now made it more difficult to fully bend my fingers. Very old school style of evaluation and just too old school in general. He Graduated college in the 70s, so there's been a lot of medical advances that he doesn't seem to know about. I would try asking questions and he would just brush me off and rush through my follow ups. Very much regret going to him for my surgery. Who knows what he did to me in that surgery room but I feel as if it wasn't 100% successful since the nerves in my pinky still feel damaged. read more

I had elbow surgery several years ago and it didn't help at all. The pain is worse than before the surgery and am still extremely limited with my right elbow. On my post surgical appointment I told Dr. Sisto I didn't feel any better, he simply ignored me wrote me a pain prescription and then walk out of the examining room. Unless your interested in having to have surgery twice ( as I will have to) I'd avoid Dr Sisto. read more

I have been Dr. Sisto's patient for a number of years. Yes, his office is extremely busy but worth the wait. He is a very efficient and knowledgable medical doctor. I had my ACL and meniscus (major surgery) done with him a few years ago, and I have never looked back. My knee is better that ever. Very happy with his and his staff's treatment. This whole office is HORRIBLE. They scheduled me at 10 when Sisto had surgery all morning and wasn't going to get to the office until 10:45 and I drove 30 minutes and paid for parking for them to tell me this right when I got there instead of having the decency to call me and inform me. The staff is so unorganized, I can never get a hold of the surgical coordinator and no one ever answers their phone. I never saw Sisto in pre-op or post-op on my actual surgery day and he didn't give me any post-op directions so I had to call and get a hold of them and ask them what I should do until my follow-up appointment, which a patient shouldn't have to do after surgery. He may be a good surgeon, but the way him and his staff work is horrible. I have had the worst experience here. read more

I read the reviews and it is well known only the unhappy write a majority of the reviews. I've seen Dr. Sisto for more ortho problems as has my husband. I don't know where people get the idea he would only spend 30 seconds or five minutes with a patient. My husband saw him last week and he spent plenty of time answering all of our questions and reviewing the x-rays done on my husband's knee. Every visit we have with him he provides time, information and is very caring. He is the director of sports medicine at Cal State University Northridge. I can only say great things about him and his staff. His surgical coordinator, Ashley, got my husband's referral into our HMO immediately. Dr. Sisto has treated my husband's carpal tunnel, tendinitis and my fractured knee. We trust him 150%. I come from a family of doctors and would not give a positive review unless I had successful outcomes from the physician. I would suspect that people who claim they didn't get enough time with Dr. Sisto most likely did not ask questions or inquire about alternative treatments. We highly recommend him. read more

He has done a surgery on my knee. I didnot see him before the surgery, i didnot see him after. Did not even come to ask me how i'm doing after the surgery. My oppointment was scheduled on wednesday at his office in Sherman Oaks where i was first time, but when i came to this office they were very surprised, because they scheduled my oppointment in Palmdale office!!!!!! They told me to come to the surgical center at 5:00am. They take me to the room at noon! When i asked why did i come so early i was told in case if some patient will not come. After reading the other reviews on this site I felt compelled to write a review that is more fitting of Dr. Sisto and his team. I have visited this office multiple times over multiple years and have nothing but the utmost respect and trust in Dr. Sisto. He is extremely hard-working and genuinely cares about every patient that walks into his offices. He wants the best for his patients no matter what. He is clearly exceptionally professional and makes every effort to convey that in his offices. Again, I would trust Dr. Sisto and his team with my life... let alone my limbs. An ankle fracture, treated nonsurgically, is placed in a boot and is re-evaluated 6 weeks later - regardless of a small fracture in the metatarsal/tarsal/ or phalanx or in layman's terms, your toe. A nondisplaced fracture of a metatarsal (the injury you seem to be describing that Dr. Sisto apparently missed) is treated the way you were treated - perhaps you are misinformed, but this is not an excuse. I would encourage you to look at all the glowing reviews of Dr. Sisto on all the sites that you have copied and pasted this EXACT SAME review. I hope the best for you and your toe but it is unfair for you to disparage Dr. Sisto this adamantly for something that was treated correctly. read more

I went to Dr. Sisto (and I use the title Dr. loosely) to repair my right knee meniscus --- I had no idea he was going to remove the meniscus, not repair it. I only discovered that this part had been removed when seeking relief from a qualified orthopedic surgeon for constant pain I've suffered since this surgery. Two subsequent doctors have told me there is nothing that can be done for me now. He has ruined my knee and I now am required to have a total knee replacement. All of this misery coupled with this surgeon's complete lack of respect for his patients (yes, he also kept me waiting 4+ hours pre-surgery and I would kick myself for not getting off the table and leaving except my knee hurts too much). Rushed in, rushed out - after I suggested a back MRI for what he thought was a knee injury (why would my back hurt too) and had only given me a knee xray, at the nurse's station as he was handing off his 3 minute diagnosis. Turns out I had a herniated disc, that I wouldn't have found out about were it not for my own intervention and suggestion. Maybe he's good for athletes, but he didn't really give me the time of day or much help. Not impressed. The place was a farm - had tons of volume - lots of patients. read more

The office is a dysfunctional nightmare. As a previous physicians' office manager, I thought the office was overstaffed with incompetent people who clearly don't care about patients, but walk around in a daze. They gave me a RX to get an MRI, and didn't even write down where they sent me, even though I called them back to remind them where they sent me. They made me wait over 2 hours while the doctor was out in the hall for 15 minutes kidding around with his lazy staff about someone's ski trip. The doctor didn't show me the xray he took, so I don't even know if he read it. What a waste of time. Find another orthopedic specialist. There HAS to be a better one in LA. read more

Called to make an appoint. Waited 20 minutes to make an appointment nearly a month and a half later. I go there for a 3:00 appointment and am seen at 4:15. The doctor comes in recommends me to another doctor and walks out before the clock strikes 4:16. Zero stars. They don't care about you at this office, just want your $$$. I explained to the receptionist that this shouldn't be charged as an office visit and she just looks at me "well what are ya gonna do?".
