It is the worst office and doctor. Don't go close to that office and doctor. My mom after surgery had too much sever pain but no one care there. No answer, no follow up, why this happening. Should have known when I walked in to be seen and Dr. Nussbaum was reprimanding his staff for someone "interrupting" him, he was loud and all the patients heard. Decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Go with your gut. The entire office has 0 compassion. I had to change insurance and waited 2.5 months while on disability to see him. It was ending and he refused to sign my continuation...I had an appointment for disability at 8:30am, got a call the night before telling me he didn't want to see me until I saw another doctor in his office. Appointment was cancelled and I decided to go get all my records and paperwork. When I arrived his nurse came out and said, "oh Dr just got back from vacation, and we can see you soon if you want to wait." I just told her I'd like my paperwork and I said, "I already had an appointment today but you cancelled it." They are not consistent with their stories that they tell patients. They even made me pay for "filling out" disability paperwork prior to the appointment...and no refund. Read other reviews. It's definitely not just me. I wish I would have just contacted my insurance and refused this referral. Waste of almost 3 months, and I have no team for my 4 herniated/bulging discs and numb arms. Wish I never had to switch from my job insurance to medi-cal. My other surgeon and pain management doctor were fabulous, and their office was exceptional. read more

I went to see Dr Nussbaum last year due to severe pain on my left side which causes me to be unable to walk. I also have tingling and swelling in my lower left leg. He took an X-ray and said I have a degenerative disc. He prescribed physical therapy. Said I will need to be mindful of my back. I asked if any other imaging should be done he said, no. All mri's look alike. Fast forward to physical therapy not working. I had an mri with another physician. I need a spinal discectomy. I do not recommend this physician. He did not take the time to listen to me. He said my leg swelling was vascular, but I already had an ultrasound on my veins and arteries in my leg. read more

I had to have fusion's done because my neck was fractured had arthritis, bone spurs and stenosis. My headaches were terrible and was loosing sensation in my right arm and left leg. After a consultations with Dr. Nussbaum the decision was made to proceed with the surgery. After a 7 hour surgery and months of recovery I feel great. Doctor did an absolute amazing job. His attention to detail, professionalism, and care for his patients are one of a kind. I am fortunate to have a found him. His staff is also caring and professional. I have always found him to be personable and listens and readily agrees to the PT I need. Dr. Nausbaum I have so many wonderful things to say about this doctor back in April 2019 I had what was called dropfoot I couldn't even get out of bed from 2017 to 2019 I couldn't walk I was very depressed. I didn't think there was any hope for me, I called my angel till this day. He really saved my life. His bedside manner was amazing. He was very upfront with me and told me that with the infection and everything else going on there's a possibility that I may not walk, and I remember after being in surgery for close to eight hours first thing I said to him was Dr. Nausbaum I can feel my feet the best feeling ever he was so happy so excited he is the best surgeon matter fact I would never let anyone touch my spine except for him and he did my fourth back surgery and he saved my life so thank you Dr. Nausbaum and thank you for being there for me and believing in me when I tell you I'm in pain and I'm really not comfortable and I'm a very strong woman but he knows and thank you again whether it's five surgeries or 11 surgeries later just thank you so much for being my angel always. Dr. Nussbaum performed a Spinal fusion of my cervical vertebrae, as I was suffering an impinged spinal cord that was gradually rendering me completely immobile from the neck down. He was very warm, comforting, kind, and cool. I felt so incredibly confident because of his confidence and assurances. The surgery was such a success! I'm getting better every day! I owe my life to this man! I went to Dr. Sobeck for shoulder issues a year ago. He was very nice. So I returned to the office for neck issues. He referred me to Dr. Nussbaum in the same office. He's not the most personable doctor. It's hard to get an appointment in the Sherman Oaks office because he's only there on Wednesdays. THE OFFICE STAFF IS A NIGHTMARE. UNPROFESSIONAL. DISORGANIZED. DON'T SEEM TO CARE. NEVER RETURN PHONE CALLS. THEY'RE HORRIBLE. I called on a Wednesday since that's when he is there to get a refill for pain meds (which I'd not had in 2 months but needed again after the epidural wore off.) Spoke to someone who said he'd check and call me back. Wed and Thurs pass, no call. I leave a voicemail Friday morning before they open. All day Friday, Monday noon, no call. So I physically go to the office to demand they get back to me. They called me later and said he declined the refill request and I could talk to him the following week during my appointment. I decided I was done with this office. So on Thursday I called and left a voicemail requesting my medical records. I said I needed them by the following Thursday. The next week nobody had called me back, nothing new. So I called and asked for records. The guy was so unprofessional. I told him what I was calling for and he just sat in silence. I said "hello?" He said "I'm here." I asked "well were you going to answer me or are we just going to sit in silence?" He said "they're ready." That was it. I hung up and went to pick up my records. I was in an accident over a year ago and was not able to get to a real doctor until a month ago. At first visit with the doctor I noticed he did not speak much, but was certainly all business. He is not rude, but constantly observing and listening to your concerns so he can treat you properly. He was able to through a series of tests find the injury to my hip. I am 28 years old and at times cannot walk due to my injury. I appreciate this doctors no nonsense approach as he is on a mission to heal. My first relief in over a year was having a true doctor who cares help me. The office ambiance is like a normal office. It does not feel crowded and is organized. The staff is organized and nice. Appointments can take time so do not come in a rush or with other plans just in case. read more

I cannot recommend this office or doctor. I have seen quite a few for my neck and shoulder issues, which are difficult to ascertain, admittedly. But the doctor did not even circle around the main issue for which I said I was there (after waiting 3 months to get an appt and having very restricted movement of my shoulder). This main concern was never actually addressed, nor was the actual area examined. The doctor started out fine asking background questions, but then did not seem very concerned to sort out the current trap/shoulder issue which is triggering migraines and very much restricting daily activity. Rather he read the MRI report and walked me through options for dealing w my spine, which of course is necessary, related and what he should do; however I already knew all that -- and received some looks of contempt if I tried to interrupt to get back to the main reason I was there -- lack of movement without pain; restricted mobility and a "popping" in my trap or shoulder. All and all it felt as though I was adding to his otherwise irritated day and I left with no new information, no sense of what I might do to work on the shoulder issue and feeling as though if I hadn't gone in to this appointment I would have at least had a better day too. read more

Stay away from this clowns, stay away as far as you can. Please find another doctor if you want your health problem solved. Here is my story: I had an accident, bad one. Broke some bones including spine and neck. Registered as a new patient to this individual ( I can't call this waste anything medical. ). Had to wait for my appointment for 2 months. Luckily at the hospital I was given a brace to keep my spine and neck in place, which I was wearing for 2 months before I got to visit this hole in Sherman Oaks. Came 15 min. before the appointment, which was 10:30am. My next appointment to see a leg doctor was at 12 noon, I thought I could make it. I came in pain, wearing brace, cast on my hand, had swollen leg (which appeared later that day was 2 blood cloths). At 12 noon I was still in the lobby waiting, alone, loosing my patience and late to the next appointment which at that time was more important than to see this clown. I politely asked front window girl if 2 hours of waiting was more than enough and 20min. later I was asked to proceed inside to be seen by this individual. It took exactly 5 minutes for him to see me and send me to do MRI elsewhere then come back to see him. OK. I did MRI and scheduled my follow up appointment. I came to the followup appointment scheduled at 11am, sat for an hour in the lobby, I was alone sitting there, right across the front desk girl with black curly hair. I lost my patience and asked her what in the world I did to be here for an hour today and two hours last time? She went to find out and came back with apologies. Another nurse that took me in said that the front desk girl forgot to hand my chart to someone... ...she was looking at me across the room the whole hour I was sitting there, chart was right in front of her nose, but she was doing other things and looking at empty room with me in it... Doctor came, pulled 2 pages of MRI report and started reading it to the nurse, who typed all that readout into the computer (for what reason?, since it was pulled and printed from the computer), then she made copy of the report and handed one copy to me. That was it. Another 5 minutes of seen this clown passed by "flawlessly", he did not even look at me, nor he talked about my injuries, just read the report to the nurse and left saying I needed physical therapy. I was left alone with my pain. I read reviews of this place and this clown on Yelp, I agree with each and every one star review out there and mine will be an addition. This place is a complete joke and why this guy keep doing his practice and damage people health I don't know. There are many good doctors out there looking for work in specifically in Los Angeles, and Southern CA, but this one sits like a bug, using HMO money, and patients time. Clowns like this should not even have license to practice such lousy work, and front office stuff should be sent to school to learn customer service skills, attention, and organizing things. My review is truly based on my experience and other reviews posted by his patients on the internet regarding his office medical practice. HORRIBLE - UNPROFESSIONAL and the most importantly ABSOLUTELY NO MEDICAL HELP !!! I suggest stay away from them. Avoid this guy like the plague. He is a second rate physician and doesn't deserve to be licensed. I saw him several years ago as a referral for a Workman's Comp case. He almost lost me my case because all he said I had was some muscle strain in my back and that's the report he submitted to the state insurance commission. I had 2 other opinions after that from board certified orthopedics and the MRI's showed I had disk bulges at L3, L4 and L4,L5 and some disk degeneration as a result of my accident. I have to see a back surgeon several years after that diagnosis by this incompetent and my insurance plan referred me to him. I immediately asked for another doctor. Dr. Nussabumb ignored my many requests to help my Father while still in the hospital and said the nerve damage was only temporary. I am a patient of Dr R Nussbaum. He has done lumbar and cervical fusions on me, worker's comp injury, without any problems. I personally have not experienced any of the difficulties noted by other reviewers. In fact, I have referred many people to him all with successful results. He works between 2 locations plus doing many surgeries for other patients but he's always been on time, cordial, helpful and interested in my success. He has guided me through the workers' comp maze without any problems. I can walk without pain, run, exercise, sit, drive and everything I could do before my injury. I'm just finishing the journey with the cervical fusion and have excellent results per Vargo PT. Be sure to give yourself the chance for improvement if you have any of these issues. Possibly a good Ortho surgeon but when it comes to the back and spine, go with a neurosurgeon. Performed a Discography on my back at a surgical center in Encino. The pain was worse than natural childbirth. Received a check from my insurance company for his "pre surgical procedure" for the tune of over $8,000.00. When it came time to schedule my actual back surgery he said the insurance company won't cover the expense, yelled for his surgery scheduler to deal with me ( because I was floored by the greed, pain and non professionalism of the whole ordeal) and promptly left the room. Went to Doctor Jeffrey Wang (5 stars by the way) at Keck USC and, low and behold, repaired my spine/back and was compensated by my insurance (PPO mind you) company. Maybe my experience was an exception as opposed to the norm...but, buyer beware. read more
