Consider $26 your small glass of cava, coke and M&Ms a donation to the great programming they have here.

Came here to see a show , its so gorgeous inside honestly i was just looking around and taking it all in. Mildly annoyed that its cash free and you have to use a card to get a drink- but that aside loved it

I visited Dominion Energy Center for the first time last weekend for a performance of Alice in Wonderland. My friend and I purchased tickets in the First Dress Circle section. Parking along the side streets wasn't terrible, though I learned that Richmond is charging to park on Saturdays now. You can easily pay through the Passport app though. Security was quick and ushers promptly brought us to our seats. That is where the good stopped for the first part of the show. Shortly after we sat down, a family of three sat down behind us. The child was maybe 4? and almost immediately started furiously kicking the back of my friend's seat without being told to stop by her parents. **Before I go any further, please note I am NOT blaming the child for any of this. All of my rage is fully centered on the parents for their lack of parenting.** Once the show started, the child asked, "Who's that?" for every character who appeared, and her mother entertained her by giving loud, verbose replies. It was as if they thought the theatre was their living room and they were enjoying a private viewing. We glared back at them several times, but they didn't make any moves to be less disruptive, so we moved down the aisle to get away from them. The father then spread his legs out over the vacated seats, illustrating just how obtuse he was. Despite moving down the row, the kicking still radiated to our seats. It was extremely annoying. They seemed like the over-privileged type, as if the dad was only there because it was raining so he couldn't golf with his buds. At intermission, I went downstairs, located an usher and asked to be moved. They did some searching and thankfully found us seats in the mezzanine. The second half of the show was so much more peaceful. It just boggles my mind that people can be so rude, so disruptive, and so careless. I feel like if that family reads this, they should give me $32.25 for the first portion of the show that they ruined. I am thankful that the ushers were able to move us, otherwise I would've had an altercation with that family, I am sure of it. My patience only runs so thick. The interior of the theatre was very pretty with classical elements. Restrooms were clean. They had photo prop areas in the lobby related to the show, which were cute too. All in all, I'd go back, but I hope next time I have more considerate neighbors.

We were here to see Theresa Cuputo the Long Island Medium. We got here early and parking was right next door for about $24. There were other locations that were cheaper. But it was so convenient we just paid the extra to be close. We stood in line for about 40 minutes until the doors opened. Everyone was friendly while waiting. When the doors opened the process of going through the metal detectors was pretty easy. There was staff everywhere directing people to their seats. The bathroom was a hot commodity so it was a long line. But the lines moved pretty quickly. The smells in there are some that I'll never forget... Lol. Ladies keeping spray in your purse could make the world a happier place . Lol. I went through the 5 stages of grief just trying to get in there. The only concessions offered were popcorn and drinks. Water and soda was $5. I still have my bottle of water and sip from it daily so I don't forget how expensive it was. Lol. Honestly, $5 wasn't as bad as it could have been. There are several floors for seating here. So if your disabled or have a hard time with mobility, definitely try to get the first floor seats. Because there are lots of steps and some are steep. I had to take my shoes of to climb the stairs because there's carpet on them. I dared not fall down 50 stairs in front of a whole audience!!! Lol. The chairs are tight as ever. If you have hips, you better leave them at home because you'll be sitting on your neighbors lap. You have to stand up anytime someone walks by. I understand they're trying to fit a lot of people in one place but if your plus size as I am, it's uncomfortable. I absolutely felt claustrophobic but I made it through the 2+ hours and survived. The inside is beautiful. The artwork and details are just lovely. We sat up high but had the perfect seats right in the middle. Teresa came so close I could have touched her, but I'm sure security would have tackled me!!! Lol. When the show started we weren't allowed to take photos or videos. The show was awesome! Lots of people received messages from their loved ones. It was wonderful to watch. Such a cool experience!! Everyone cleared out pretty quickly after the show, again the bathroom lines were loaded before leaving. The mens line had no one. I so wanted to use their bathroom just to get in but my daughter wasn't having it!! Lol. I enjoyed the whole experience and would come back!!!

I have been here twice in the last month for my son's (adaptive) dance recital AND for a show! Both sides of the experience have been awesome. From the backstage view: it's super clean and well-organized. This is the place you would want to hold the date to have your show! Oh, the parking around the building is quite helpful and be sure to download the app if you need to park there - especially if you're from out of town. We locals know where to park for free ;) haha When I came back here for a show, it was very well organized and finding out seats were pretty easy. The decorations that they have in the theatre is beautiful and just a great feel to it. It's not overbearing or distracting from the show. Great performance and the place is very well taken care of. The staff were sweet and friendly!

Nice theatre but so cramped! We sat in the mezzanine level. Luckily we were only 3 & 4 seats into the row because we only had bother 2 ppl next to us to get out when we had to. There is no break in the row, so if you sat in the middle, then 10 people had to get up so you can get out. Additionally, the leg room was minimal... so I felt extremely claustrophobic the whole time I was there. I would have loved to stand up and dance around, but I was at a comedy show, not a music concert. Seats were comfy though.

Stars aligned for the most spellbinding show .... and those stars were Emo Philips & Weird Al Yankovic. The RVA stop on Weird Al's "Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-indulgent Vanity Tour" was here at the (dare I say it?) unfortunately, ridiculously, self-indulgently named Dominion Energy Center. What the heck? They couldn't give it a better name? Sounds like it's gonna be a sports arena or some other awful place. But this magnificent theater is a century old, it's a RVA treasure where antique statues, chandeliers, velvet curtains, and other gaudy / decadent art is lovingly preserved and featured. Beautiful stairways and elegant balconies give you that bygone glamorous feel, while the ladies room, thankfully, is spacious and modern. This show was so special because it fell on the week that my oldest child turned 18 and my youngest turned 10. We were able to take the entire fam to celebrate these significant birthdays and create an unforgettable memory together. "Weird Al" Yankovic gives the best live show, better than McCartney, Tool, or any of the other big names I've seen live. This wasn't my first time seeing Weird Al but it was a first for most of my children who I've raised on his music. A Weird Al concert is like a religious experience for true fans, myself included. And what a spectacular bonus to see (friend of Al) Emo Phillips open for Al this time. Emo's set is as odd today as it was in '75, and he's arguably the comic w the most unpredictable brand of humor. He had the audience on the edge of our pretty little seats.

Nice place. Sweats a bit cramped, but it's old. Quick in and out. Parking close by. Bathroom access quick. Not a bad seat in the place. Highly recommend! We were on isle right mezzanine for Dracula ballet. Wonderful!

What a beautiful theater!! I have enjoyed many shows and performances here!! Always a delight to come here. So glad that the "lights" are back on!! Nothing like live performances! Such talent! Tonight we watched CATS!!! Wow!!! Amazing!! So glad had the opportunity to watch in RVA!!

I visited the Dominion Energy Center Carpenter Theatre to see a matinee performance by the Richmond Symphony. The performance was wonderful, but I was also equally impressed by the theater itself. The entrance is well marked with a classic marquee, and immediately upon entering you walk through security with metal detectors and a bag check. From there your ticket is scanned and you can enter the lobby of the theater; all lines moved very quickly. There were several bars open for refreshments and a lounge for private members. Each main floor had large multi-stall restrooms and the one I visited was very clean. Both in the lobby areas and inside the concert hall are classically and beautifully decorated with Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, rich colors, and intricate details from floor to ceiling. It felt really special to be there and had a wonderful vintage flair without being run down like some older theaters. With as intimate as the theater is and the well-planned layout of the seats, you really can't go wrong no matter where you sit. I purchased the least expensive tickets on the top floor, the second dress circle, almost the very last row and all the way to the side for only $10 plus fees. I did not expect to have a great view, but it was perfect! Only a few feet of the stage was obscured from our angle, and being on the end meant that no one was directly in front of us. The acoustics were great even with minor audience interruptions. The seats were comfortable, appropriately spaced from one another, and there were wheelchair accessible options on each floor. There is ample parking nearby including street, paid lots, and garages that start at $7 only a block away.
