Went to see The Devil Wears Prada. It was a great show. Everyone was fantastic and so high energy. The theater is conveniently located next to a Tube stop. It's a large theater and the best part is they have decorated the entire theater to the Prada theme. They have costumes from the show displayed in the lobby and on the multiple floors. There's even a gift shop on the top floor. We were in the upper balcony but it was very close to the bathrooms upstairs which was nice. It's such a massive theater. One of the larger ones on this trip. Our sightline was great and unobstructed and I could see the entire stage. read more

Came here to see the play The Devil Wears Prada! Such a cute theater! It really reminded me of a theater off the show The Gilded Age or something of that era. It's older but it has alot of character! The play was so amazing beyond words to be honest. Great singing, great dancing, just all around great fun! Only thing I didn't like which didn't even make me take a star away so obviously not that big of a deal.... The show I originally booked got canceled unfortunately the show is the whole reason we were coming to London in the first place. Once I emailed someone who worked in management they were able to rebook us and put us in their company seats. They were 3 rows literally from the front stage... the downside was I was there to see the devil wears Prada so of course shoes, bags, outfits are all very important! I'm short so unfortunately I couldn't see the shoes on the actresses. Ugh it was so frustrating I just wanted to stand up and see the whole time! Anyways all in all I would definitely come back to see a show here and I would recommend everyone who can go see the Devil Wears Prada musical!! read more

When going to London and you are a fan of live performances, you must go see a show on the West End. We ended up at the Dominion Theatre, because 1) we loved the movie 'Devil Wears Prada', 2) I am a big fan of Vanessa Williams, and 3) we are a fan of Elton John, and 4) Shaun Taub did the lyrics and I am a fan of 'Suffs the Musical'. But this review is about the theatre, not the show. The theatre is so well maintained considering it's age and historical nature. The options for snacks were varied and great. To celebrate our first day of school, friends and I got last minute tickets to see Grease here. We were seated in the second to last row of the stalls. While the performance itself was wonderful, we were seated so far back that at times it was difficult to see and hear what was happening on stage. If you are looking for cheap tickets here, I would recommend the balcony rather than the back of the stalls for a better view. read more

Such a dazzling theatre that only amplified my excitement of being in London. It's ornate, velvety and a classic spot that hosts hundreds of shows and performances. We actually went to a Hillsong church service here (for free if you want to check out the theatre that way!) and loved the energy in the room. Everyone was singing, dancing and greeting each other. The pastor was super funny and inspirational, and we left feeling pumped for the day. This theatre is located right downtown, so you can walk and explore around before or after. There's tons of restaurants, cabs, hotels and shops in this area. We visited a pub after for some classic fish and chips. Enjoy exploring! read more

This theater is in a great and convenient location right next to a tube station. I absolutely loved An American in Paris! It was a lovely performance and even though I was pretty far back, the seats were decently comfortable and the theater felt historic and classy. They also sell Haagen Daaz ice cream during the intermission so that was nice. The bathrooms are super clean and scattered throughout the theater which was nice - you didn't have to wait forever in line. read more

For many years, the Dominion Theatre, located diagonally from Tottenham Court Station, hosted the wildly successful Queen musical "We Will Rock You" - and now, it's running another jukebox musical, "Bat out of Hell" - which I recommend wholeheartedly to any fan of "operatic" rock. The venue itself is among the less attractive in central London, and its relative grubbiness is only exacerbated by an ugly building site just in front of it - which makes smoking/vaping during the interval a less than pleasant endeavour. But it's one of the larger venues, with more modern technical facilities than some - and thus perfect for a rock opera like "Bat out of Hell". I saw the show once before, last year when it had a limited run at the more prestigious English National Opera house. read more

Superb location, dazzling show, and elegant venue! I bought a single "restricted view" seat the day before I went to see "An American in Paris". I was worried about the restricted view, but it was in the second row. The restricted view just meant that I couldn't see all the footwork in the dancing, but I could see all the body movement. No problem for me, but others may want to know that! The venue was quite large but they had a lot of bathrooms which made intermission less of a pain. They also had quite a few bars and even sold Hagan Daas ice cream during the intermission. The theater is away from the bustle of the other theaters, but it's directly outside the Tottenham Court tube stop! I'd highly recommend "An American in Paris" to anyone! read more

When I told a friend of mine that I was going to London, she told me not to miss out on seeing a show. I couldn't figure out why I would go see a show when I can see a show at home, but chose this one to go to. It's not something I've ever seen advertised in the states so I thought it would be perfect. And I was right! It was a story set in the future to the music of the band Queen. All I can say is that I'm so glad I took my friend's advice! We had second row seats in the aisle which were perfect. The seats were larger than normal theater seats and comfortable! The show was just a mix of energetic music, great singing, great acting, and lots of fun! We left feeling exhilarated!! Great location in on the corner of Tottenham Court Road but further away from the rest of the West End. At the moment Elf is showing and the stage production is awesome. This was such a comfortable theater. It's huge and the seats are very roomy and you're not fighting for the armrests with your neighbor. I saw "We Will Rock You" here and it seemed appropriate that the music was by Queen because this place seems like such a concert venue. The interior of this theater isn't as kept up as other theaters (e.g. Savoy Theatre) but that's not what you're looking at anyway. The stage is huge which lends itself nicely to shows like "We Will Rock You". The facilities are clean enough. Though really, they need more (or larger) bathrooms especially if you only have 20 minutes for intermission. I would come to this venue again for another show. read more

Decor is amazing, gives the eyes something to glean prior to your show. It was the first time I had visited this theatre, or that is what I thought. Must be some spooky beings within this theatre because it came to me that I had been here before. As a child I was 'dragged' in by my mother and I remember seeing Judy Garland sitting on the edge of that stage singing Born in a Trunk. Checking Google, it was 1957. Really weird. Anyway, a great venue, and War of the Worlds was brilliant, even though I did miss Richard Burton and Justin Hayward who I saw in the original version at the O2. read more

Have you seen 'We Will Rock You'?!! It is amazing! Especially if you like Queen. The lights, music and singing are incredible. Everyone clapping and singing along, standing in their sits while they rock out to their favourite Queen Tune. The story line is about the Future and music turned generic and how they need to get rock'n'roll back! The songs are all the same except the lyrics have been altered to suit the storyline! Very clever. I have been twice and my sister five times - it is her ultimate musical - you leave feeling exhilarated. The theatre is beautiful, old and conservatively ornate. There are not many toilets so you do need to queue unfortunately. Perfectly situated in the centre of London, Tottenham Court Road Station is directly outside the theatres front door! The big statue of Freddy Mercury standing astride the roof of the entrance to the Dominion Theatre should give a clue to the content of We Will Rock You, the longest-running and current show at the theatre. My parents, my girlfriend and I attended the matinee for this musical last month. The theatre isn't the most glitzy West End venue but it has decent seating with enough legroom. The banking could be improved in some areas though. A little tip - we paid £42.50 for seats in the Circle and got almost as good a view as the £62 seats. The musical is based around the music of Queen, with some new lyrics in some songs. It's a humourous show, which doesn't take itself or the audience too seriously and if you relax and go with the flow, you'll have a fun afternoon or evening. A couple of warnings though. The volume is turned right up, so be prepared to have your eardrums hammered at times with music that is coming at you at concert level volume! Also, it should come with a PG certificate as there's quite a lot of swearing and sexual innuendo in the show. Some intermission ice creams courtesy of the girlfriend rounded off an enjoyable afternoon. And yes, they did rock us! read more

I studied in Bloomsbury a many 7 years ago and would always be amazed at the Dominion Theatre and it's production of We Will Rock You. I used to stroll out of class and be haunted with Queen songs making its way down the street and to me while I popped into Boots for some candy. I was finally able to catch the show during my most recent trip. We scored amazing seats in the Stalls from tckts (10 rows away from the stage) and I thought that the music and lighting was brilliantly done (at some points, the strobe lighting and loud guitar sounds could be a bit overwhelming). The theatre itself reminded me of the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, CA. A bit on the commercial side - selling popcorn, candy, and ice cream, even having staff walk through the aisles to push candy or cds. The theater is large and the WC well kept and clean. In regards to the show, I completely agree with everything Evelyn M. said. However, what the show lacks in a comprehensive story/plot it makes up in the musical performances (the leads are stellar and, well, who doesn't like Queen?) The technology feels a bit outdated since we are now living in the world of iPhones, Mac computers, HD video, etc but I can't be too critical since Freddie Mercury and Queen songs are ultimately timeless :) read more

I went to the Dominion Theater to see Bat Out of Hell this past week. I was able to get a ticket in the center stalls for around $40 10 minutes before the show. I"ll be honest, the show wasn't my favorite, but it was somewhat entertaining. I did like the theater however. The seats are fairly large with plenty of legroom, a rarity in my experience. The servers at the bars were quick as well, and the line seemed to move quickly. I would have liked to see some more snack options, but what they had was better than nothing. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for another show. read more

Saw Shen Yun. Politically motivated show, and I did not pay to be a part of this. The dancing was mediocre, and nowhere near as eventful or exciting as adverts show it to be. The whole thing is commercialised; Shen Yun was actually founded in New York, so that suddenly makes sense to me lol. Dances are repetetive and boring, and after every dance two cringey hosts come out and introduce the next show. They make you say 'i love shen yun' which is just.. weird and awkward. They go on about how the chinese dance is difficult to the point of ballet.. but it isn't something some american cheerleaders couldn't do. And the animations were pretty cringe too. Don't pay £77 for this, see something better. read more

It's hard to miss The Dominion. Surround by a golden backdrop, a 12 foot Freddie Mercury stands tall in the middle of Soho holding on to his trade mark microphone stand. This image alone should tell you that The Dominion is not the place to visit if you're looking for edgy offbeat theatre. The shows performed here look to pull in mass audiences and are almost always musicals. For the last five years this venue has hosted (as Freddie might have already alluded you to) 'We Will Rock You' to great success although little critical acclaim. It was this very musical that drove me to visit The Dominion and my friend and I loved it. To briefly summarise the plot line, a thousand years in the future and the world is a cruel, cruel place, heavily polluted and oppressively run. However will our heroine free herself from this torture? Of course! Through the power of music, or to be more specific, the songs of Queen! Yes, this plot line wore pretty thin at points but really all anyone is here for is a good sing song to a few old classics. The Dominion itself is a lovely old theatre although it could maybe do with a little TLC around the edges. Our seats were very comfortable and had a great view of the stage. The bar was fully stocked and not too expensive either. Definitely one to visit! read more

A pretty good venue with some great shows. I'm going to echo the folks that are raving about 'We Will Rock You." It's a GREAT show and with a very interactive fun audience. The music was great, the singing was amazing, the crowd participation (at first concerning) was a great addition, but... thought there were some weaknesses, but then... this review is for the theater, not the show, so... The venue has a lot of character, you can see that it's been around for a while. The costs are reasonable, the box office is very accessible during the daytime, but the bathrooms get BUSY (so get moving at the intermission and beat the crowd). And the organization for exiting is rather poor, so plan on making a very slow exit out of here. Tips -- if you're going for 'We Will Rock You' I would recommend center, but probably no closer than row M or N. I think it will give you a better appreciation for everything that goes on. Overall... probably not for the same show, but I'd definitely return. read more

My wife and I took our friend Andrew to this show in London -- We will Rock You. The show is based on an album by Queen. It starts a bit slow; however, as it steamed towards the end, it got better and better and better. At the end, you find yourself on your feet clapping, cheering, and singing the lyrics! It was a rocking and happening place! Funny thing, we saw so many OLD people (yeah... 70s and over ... jumping clapping and cheering).... ahh... Definitely, a must see read more

I recently suffered the great misfortune of seeing We Will Rock You in the Dominion theatre. It's difficult to dislike Queen but easy to dislike this show. Sitting uncomfortably somewhere in between a tribute act and a pantomime the whole experience isn't really worth the money unless you can find a good deal on the ticket prices. Or you just really love Queen themed pantomimes. But enough about the show, although I found the spectacle uncomfortable, the seats weren't. Actually, they were the opposite. Comfortable. Which always helps. Other than a big reputation and a grand standing on the corner of Oxford street and Tottenham Court road - with the giant Freddie Mercury statue above the entrance this theatre has become quite a tourist attraction - I find little else to praise about the Dominion theatre. It's quite sizable (over 2000 seats, I believe) but that's neither here nor there, my main gripe lies with the audience. We Will Rock You is not a show to be taken too seriously and with that you become part of an audience which doesn't take it's responsibility seriously. By this I mean to say that you can expect people around you to be chattering to their friends or family or rustling through plastic wrapped sweets. Many feel the need to take pictures of the performance, which isn't allowed, so on several occasions a member of staff will be bolting by to deliver a telling off. Nothing criminal but still bad theatre etiquette and continual distractions. The noisy foodstuffs is also the fault of the theatre as they sell plastic wrapped sweets and popcorn - It's just a bad idea. As I mentioned earlier, it's hardly a sophisticated, full-attention requiring show but the distractions are still very irritating. This wasn't an isolated experience as I've been told similar stories from others who had been along before me. I feel this will be the case for as long as We Will Rock You is being performed here. Huge theatre! Wow it's big, more like a concert venue which is why it's fitting that Queen's We Will Rock You show has been playing there 9 years. Great leg room and the show which is kind of a crap story line, is still a lot of fun with some of the best singers in the west end. read more
