Last night we knocked on our neighbor's door, but were met with no response. Last night we saw our neighbors were home when we knocked on the door. Last night we were very annoyed. Last night we called Dominion Towing. Dominion Towing had one of the most polite dispatchers I have met in the towing business. Dominion Towing put me at ease after speaking with Al's Towing. Dominion Towing took down my information about the vichele in question. Dominion Towing helped me when Al's Towing dispatcher was very rude. Dominion Towing would have towed the vichele in question, but my housing area is contracted to one individual group. Dominion Towing wasn't able to tow the car in question, but left me feeling better about the tow trucking industry. Dominion Towing wasn't able to assist me in this situation, but I feel confident that I will be using their services in the future. This dispatcher I spoke to is one cool dude. read more

It's one thing to tow someone from a handicap spot or a no parking zone but to deliberately walk around someone's neighborhood looking to make an extra buck is pretty low. Absolutely unbelievable experience with this towing company. They literally sat and waited until 11 minutes after the visitor parking curfew to tow my vehicle. Eleven minutes. I walked out at 10:15 because a friend of mine was going through a hard time...Instead of focusing on safety or legitimate violations, they clearly have nothing better to do than stalk cars and pounce the second they can profit from it. This wasn't about enforcing rules...this was predatory, plain and simple. No warning, no courtesy, no common sense. My car was towed from HOA in Sept 2025 despite a valid visitor tag. These people are thieves. They use any reason to tow your vehicle. If you live or are near the Avenir or Dunn Loring shopping area, beware. I have had friends who parked here and gotten towed. I understand when there is a good reason to tow a vehicle, but these people literally lurk and tow your car. They go garage to garage routinely just to see if you are a MINUTE over the time. If you live in one of the apartments, make sure you take off your Parking Permit if you decide to park in the retail spots because they will simply tow you just for not parking in your apartment floor, even if you're within the 4 hour range for retail. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, make sure you press the 2 hour reset button in the Avenir parking, because they will tow you for not doing so and charge you $170, + $30 gas charge + a weekend charge, even where there is PLENTY of parking in the area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One time, I parked in the garage and took a phone call while staying inside my vehicle. I saw Dominion tow truck literally look at each car, and even went to mine and marked it so they know how long I've been parked. These guys are like hawks trying to prey on innocent people. Imagine my plight when i wake in the morning to see my car missing from my own paid parking spot ! i thought it was stolen.Well being towed by these guys was more horrible than my car being stolen.160$ to get it back is a joke specially if its being towed from your own parking spot. Predatory towing in Fairfax City! Parked for 15 minutes in the Scout commercial/food area in front of a store that was CLOSED to go to an adjacent store to get a drink. Came out and car was gone. Witness on site of parking area, said they tow car after car every night there. We later saw that there is only one small hard to see sign at an entrance ramp (but not in the actual parking strip area or near the spaces) that says towing enforced with Dominion's name on it. We asked for the Dominion manager's name to call the next day and the person in the cashier booth refused to provide it. read more

I was going through horrible health lrionkemd , and I forgot to check on my car decals A decent company would leave you a bitter first, but they towed my car in front of my apartment building, withy me noticing it. It took a couple of days , before I was able to go to pick it up, I called and explained the situation, as I did when I got there. They said they were sorry, but couldn't help me. The response from Dominion is amusing. The details she provided about the tow are lacking information to say the least. I had permission to park there. This tow happened at my place of residence, with a parking pass, and with the very organization that contracts Dominion. The tow was unethical. An ethical tow is when an entity does not give a patron permission to park, and that entity NEEDS the space. Both were not satisfied here. An ethical person would have called the organization to verify, especially when a parking pass is displayed. Make no mistake, this was done to make a quick buck. In addition, just read her response, she confirms in her statement that the company uses code names. It is amazing to me how she justifies the company's actions as ethical. I missed the tow truck by about 10 minutes and when I called the lot, Dominion Towing was trying to make more money by delaying when I can come to get the vehicle, they told me the lot was closed, and I have to leave it overnight. Furthermore, when I told them there were no parking signs indicating I couldn't park there, they tried to blame it on the company that contracts them. I have been a patron at the lot where they towed me, and they shrugged it off as If I was a joke. I did call the contracting company which admitted there were not enough signs at the lot I was towed. My bad for assuming a spot next to a visitor space was the same. I even thought, "Why don't people park over here?" I walk some days and noticed the car missing nearly a day later. Fees were higher, $230 and I felt the opposite of "attentive to detail" on job ads I apply for. The Prius was towed without transmission damage and service codes yet with scratches by the lock. I was afraid the car would have massive transmission damage from being dragged on the back wheels and also that the window might start letting rain in. Showed up a few minutes later got my car back. Go to get my car, left went to grab my cigarettes after inspecting for damage. My cigarettes were no longer in my vehicle, along with a one 2500 lumen flashlight mysteriously gone and a brand new crack in my driverside window. And they even didn't try to check or contact anyone to make sure it was legal. Ready to open law case against them. Who would like to join? Apparently the current pandemic doesn't apply to Dominion. My vehicle was towed from my residential lot in the wee hours of Saturday morning. I've been a resident for 25 years. I called Fairfax county non emergency police and they were shocked to hear that my vehicle was towed for "improper display of parking permit" during the lockdown. I am home bound and unemployed due to Covid. Where am I going to find 185 dollars? I am disabled and I had a disabled placard in my rental car. I also had a pass from the office to park in visitors which is where I parked. My car was towed and I had to pay $230.00 when I live on social security. The office informed me that I was parked on the wrong side and that is why I got towed. This is unacceptable to me. I want my money returned. My car was not in violation of the parking policy because I have a disabled placard and could not park in the usual space by the office that I use because this is also against the Wexford Manor parking policy. What everyone else said. Obviously no one likes a towing company. However, whatever company tows from my apartment complex is significantly nicer than these lowlife predators. I was towed two days in a row at a friend's for "being in the wrong spot" even though I have a parking pass and there were plenty of open spaces. And I've attached pictures of the faded "reserved" painted on the ground that's almost impossible to see on many of the parking spaces in this lot. Especially if it's dark or rainy like it was last weekend. These pictures are in the best visibility conditions. The writing is often faded, multiple things printed on top of each other... In this parking lot specifically, spots either say reserved, resident, guest, or nothing. Mix them up once and they come back day after day to keep getting you like the lowlife predators they are. No common sense of "well they have a parking pass so they're paying to park here. And the writing isn't very clear. And there are plenty of available spots so no one is being displaced. Maybe just notify the apartment management, Maybe leave a warning or a note, Maybe move them to the correct spot, one space over" all things that my apartments towing company does. But nope, these guys just take full advantage of any situation they can. And they definitely scratched my bumper. But I know they're too shitty to care or take fault for anything. These guys work on commission and damage cars by dragging them out of their parking places. I pointed out that they should put a tow dolly under cars when they need to pull them out with their drive wheels on the pavement but they said to do that would put their driver in danger. I have lived in the county for 43 years and have had 5 complaints against tow operators all of which happen to be Dominion towing. They also do devious actions like post signs on the left side of two lane roads behind foliage so it's hard to see them. I would encourage everyone towed to file a complaint with the fairfax county consumer protection agency as I've been refunded on prior complaints. Update: I received many many many messages on this post asking me how I complained. Take pictures before you file a complaint. Dominion Towing tried to post a sign that wasn't there asserting it was there before my tow. I luckily had pictures and the compliance team did not like Dominion Towing's assertions didn't match the facts. I suggest holding back photos to let Dominion Towing make their case and use the photos later to show they do not match the assertions. Hopefully my experience doesn't get repeated by anyone else, but I'd like to state for the record that this location for Dominion Towing wasn't completely horrific when I had to pick up my car. I don't have a beef with the fact that they're doing their job (and efficiently, to boot). I AM a little steamed about the fact that my car was towed from a virtually empty lot at 2300 that had an unnoticeable sign against a wall of the building in a location completely invisible from anywhere NEAR where I was parked. All that aside, the guy manning the office was efficient with his duty of collecting the towing charges ($100 a pop for myself and a friend, each) and handing us our receipts. He couldn't answer any questions we had about Dominion Towing's policies and how much profit they make from each tow, but responded with something like "I just get paid." Classy. read more

Towed my car after only 45 minutes in a 2 hour free zone. Were incredibly rude and pry on people who don't have sufficient funds.

During our lease at the apartment complex that uses Dominion Towing, signs for "No Resident Parking" were added on the floor where I would occasionally park (G1). I never noticed the newly added signs and eventually got towed. I owned up to this mistake and paid for the return of my vehicle. Fast forward 3 months (today): I parked on the street in front of our apartment. All it says is no commuter parking, 4 hour limit from 8am-12am everyday (picture attached). I came home for my lunch break and didn't feel like driving down two floors (G2; parking for residents) to park my car for an hour. So, I parked on the street since I knew it was fine. When I came out to my car, the tow truck was literally in reverse about to tow my car. The employee yelled out "Hey I'm doing you a service by not towing you. Don't park here. This is Retail Parking." We went back and forth as I asked him where it said on the sign that residents couldn't park here and where on the sign did it say that it's Retail Parking. In G1, it's indicated as being for Retail Parking. Again, not on the street. I told him G1 was No Resident Parking, NOT on the street. All he said was "You've been told!" since there's literally nothing on the sign that I was violating. If I hadn't come out to my car when I did, I'd be short $135 all because I wasn't there to have "BEEN TOLD!" My review seems to have disappeared, so I'll post another. On 12/14/19, my car was towed from the Avenir Pl. garage in Fairfax while I was eating lunch across the street. The apt. complex next door gave me Dominion's phone number (and that's a scam all in itself). Paid $160 for my car. Then drove back to garage. The big sign reads, FREE Retail Parking for 2 hours. In small print on the meter, it says to press the button for free parking. My meter was BROKEN, as are other meters, and I have the videos and photos of me pressing the buttons. I also met a customer in garage who told me Dominion waits there in a truck for you to park so they can tow it away, and I saw a woman in a truck sitting there. If you were towed in error, file your complaints with these two agencies. They will investigate it for you. This is a scary business. They towed me from a lot that was adjacent to 2 businesses (Walmart and Dunkin Donuts) but said I was only allowed to park and go to the stores on the sign - Dunkin Donuts was one of them. I went to Walmart first to dash in for an item and was gone for a total of 15 minutes intending to then go to the Dunkin Donuts, but in that 15 minutes I was towed and had to go searching for my car. When I tried to explain (and then complain) I was blown off by the rude desk clerk who responded with profanities. I think it is guilt-driven rudeness that gives towing companies such a bad rap. They know that often what they are doing is wrong and unfair but choose the dollar over their better judgment. The word that comes to mind in this case is "unethical."
